Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We will be stationary with FHU for the next few months and want to know what water level I should keep in my fresh water tank to minimize molds and other problems?
I have so much to learn!!! My misunderstanding -- thought by "stationery" they just meant not moving, like staying in one location for a few months and being hooked up to a water source, not necessarily putting the rig into storage for a few months. That does make sense, then. As I said... so much to learn and understand about how rigs work before I get on the road!

Cheryl......normally when you have full hook-ups your fresh water tank is bypassed and uses the city water pressure for supply......the tank water is normally pulled from the pump.....I have 100+ gallons of fresh water (2 tanks)......when I am on full hook-ups I add chlorine to each tank to sanatize and right before leaving I dump/Flush and refill if the water quality is good...it cuts down on stagnant water and mold growth in the plumbing and tanks.....

I do know fulltimers who always use their tank. They just fill it when it gets low off city water when on full hookups (FHU). No problem with the water staying fresh that way. If you want to do it that way make sure your water pump is easy to replace, it will wear out faster.

That's what we do, fill the tank then use it up, fill it up again........
No surprises that way when the water service goes down at the campground. It exercises the water pump. That's our plan and we like it that way.
When on full hookups for a while I keep enough water in the tank (maybe five gallons) to have some water for flushing and cooking in case the RV park water goes away. I dump it every couple of weeks and add new water.
In the RV park we are in for the winter, we have pressure that varies from 18 psi or so to maybe 25 psi. To get a good shower and to operate the sprayer on the pull out kitchen faucet, I fill the tank and keep the water pump on most of the time.
That way the pump runs when the pressure is below about 25 psi and shuts off when the park pressure goes up. I will use a tank of water in about a week so it stays fresh and I don't have to dump it.

Since we are talking fresh water tanks, I just put a few gallons of water in it as we are heading out to a bluegrass festival tomorrow. Just enough to wash hands and flush while on the road.
Will have FHU at the cg. On returning home I will drain the tank to store for even a month, really helps to keep the tank clean.
As far as I know the only way to get water in our coach is from the tank. That wasn't the case with our mpg, but I can find only one place to attach a hose, and that fills the tank. From what others on the Foretravel forum say, that's the way they all are. Other manufacturers may also use this arrangement.
