Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Congrats to Red and Pam (El Rojo) on closing on their house yesterday and leaving Lewisville TX today!! We had the opportunity to meet Red and Pam last night, didn't know they were staying in the same campground. There have been LOTS of comments on this forum about how friendly and helpful other RV'e...
I'm paranoid about blowing fuses! right now I have on the Fireplace, furnace, lights, frig, space heater, and TV. And of course there's the inverter. I calculate that at about 45 amps. I turn off the heater to use the microwave, induction cooktop, hair dryer... Well really when I use anything els...
I saw a post about this on an RV blog today and I have to admit, this sounds like my dream workamping setup! Has anyone here done this, or know where around the country (preferably East Coast) it's a possibility? I'm getting ahead of myself, I know.....but this is the sort of discovery that really inspir...
Hello Everyone!!! We will be living in our TT full time starting in May while we build our home out on some property. We have yet to find the property so therefore we will be bunking up in a local RV park close by. We chose to do the camper vs building a small cabin and then the main house so that we can travel...
Greg Munoz from Spring Texas passed away after a year long battle with esophageal cancer. We met Greg and Jean at the 2012 Kerrville rally. They had just picked up thier new Voltage toyhauler. They were hoping to fulltime soon. Last year we were able to surprise Greg for his 60th birthday in San Antonio...
We have listed the house today! What a feeling it truly is. After breaking our backs to get ready all month and facing the deep freeze that does not allow us to get to everything - it is another goal finally met. We have been planning for this for at least 4 years - RV-Dreamers you have been with us the whole w...
In the process of purging in preparation for the FT life, I have encountered a most perplexing dilemma. I am a serious pet person in general--dog person in particular--and while I have only one dog now, I have four others ... in urns, along with one beloved ****atiel. So, do I make room in the rig for my d...
We’re planning to have a 400 amp hr/400 watt solar install for our RV. One installer in Florida says we only need 10 gauge wire. The other person we are talking with says we should put 8 gauge. On this forum someone said they used 2 gauge and 4 gauge. I’m wondering who to believe. Do you guys have an opinion?...
Just curious about this. So many class B models have couches that fold into very uncomfortable looking sofa beds. I know a must have for me will be a real, quality mattress. Does anyone know of any models that come with one, or can you steer me toward info on modifying a layout to accommodate one? Thatnks...
We tried and our RV loan got turned down. Whine! Whine! I guess its not time for us to own a RV. Southeast financial recreational vehicles in Texas didn't like our numbers. What to do better? Pay down more debt the sacrifice I'm not good at sacrifice but I better get there if I want a RV lifestyle. I...
Hey Everyone....We are looking at buying a new camper to live in while we are building our house plus using it to vacation in. In the past we have only owned a toy hauler and really didnt check it out very carefully before we bought it. Although, we enjoyed it and had no problems with it. Now that we will b...
Looks like we sold the house! We are suppose to close on 3/17. We could have closed sooner, but we signed up to chaperone the daughter's choir trip to Disney World over Spring Break. We decided it would be easier to wait until after we return. But the goal is in sight! So excited!
We are just about a week away from getting our MS and are at "almost" crunch time on getting a washer and dryer to have the dealer install before we pick it up. In previous research, everyone has been helpful in suggesting Maytag, Bosch, and Whirlpool as substitutes for the Splendide units....
How many folks here identify as an introvert (versus an extrovert?) I know I do. And by the way, this isn't the same as being shy or not wanting to be social. It's more about where you get your energy from - from alone time and time in smaller groups, or from being in larger groups. If you're not sure if you...
If you're unfamiliar with it, this is the plan that costs $69.99/month for 20GB of data on the Verizon network. We rely on it ourselves to keep connected as we travel, recommend it often and get lots of questions about it. So, we wrote a guide to it. From understanding the soft data cap, costs, suspen...
We've emptied holding tanks, filled propane tanks, generators tested, kitchen stocked so we are ready for this next round of "wintry mix". So tired of this winter and will be thrilled when we are able to hit the road before next winter. we've been in our RV full time since September, what a...
Woke up this morning with the thought that if it wasn't for Lee, I would never in a million years be doing this. Before you jump to conclusions :) what I mean by that is I would never have the guts to do this alone. I see many women doing it solo and am incredibly impressed, but right now I don't have that kind...
Haven't posted for awhile...about 10 days ago my grandmother passed away and I went home to be with family and support my dad. Spent a ton of quality time with the larger extended family and talked a lot about our plans for full-timing and everyone was fascinated and incredibly supportive. It was ni...
I have been researching DPs and have come to the realization the my BH isn't going to full time however; I travel quite a bit anyway and will use it in my business staying for months at a time. So....being by myself most of the time in a 45' motorhome.....Is having a slide/s a big difference? There is a big...
Angel Soft toilet paper warning!! For those of you who are not aware, Angel Soft toilet paper has changed to "Stronger and Softer design". What this means to us RV'rs is that it no longer breaks down in the holding tanks. We had heard about some people having issues but since we had not and the...
Most likely I will be traveling with my 3 cats, as I haven't been able to find them new homes. I'm not sure yet whether we'll be buying a 5'er/truck or a MH (depends on budget and what's available when we're ready). I'm pretty certain that with a MH, they can roam free while traveling, or be put in their car...
I did a 180 and put a deposit on this Bighorn 5er this weekend. I found it at Great Outdoors RV center in Fulton, NY GVWR 16,000 lbs. / dry weight 11,000 lbs. / hitch weight 1960 lbs. A one owner unit, in very good shape. Im looking for opinions now for a tow vehicle. What I know now is I want a diesel 3/4 or one to...
The campground did electrical work today and crossed some wires which has burnt out some of our electrical, cable box, Wii, washer and central vac. The adjuster can't come until Monday so we don't want to cause any more damage until they can look at it.We're going to stay in a hotel so we don't cause mo...
My wife and I spent Thurs to Mon at Palm Creek Rv Resort in Casa Grande with some friends from Canada that purchased a park model home last year. I had no idea we could have so much fun in a weekend. I'm sorry we didn't check rates so that I could tell everyone that might be interested to stay there but what a g...
Hi folks, we are starting out around April 1 full time, maiden voyage will be Florida. Curious as to how far most of you drive in a day? Not going to make reservation for the drive but trying to map out the time it will take to get to the Panhandle from Michigan, how many nights to plan on? Love to hear what...
