Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
My sisters are planning to move to Alaska in 2 years. They have started researching different travel methods. They are leaning towards driving. They have been making a list of questions to research. Because this place has a wealth of knowledge I figured I would ask a few questions to try and help them....
Hi, This has been touched on before, but we are asking..... please for cat owners to tell us where they keep the litter box in their RV ? Also a good natural kitty litter without chemicals ? Had two cats...brothers for over 15 years, and they passed away within a year of one another almost 2 years ago....
While my husband was unhooking our TT, I was making reservations for our next trip. When he called his mom to say we were home, she asked where we were going next weekkend. My husband, after 3 weekend trips in a row, told her that after I mandated next weekend was to be a brickhouse work weekend, he was so...
Our first RV was a 2001 Trail Lite Hybrid bumper dragger, purchased in 2004; sold in 2012. We've learned a few things, are a few years older (62 and 67) and we plan on pulling it to natl forests, parks, and some private RV Parks around the USA the next 5 yrs or more. Well pull it with a 2004 Ford Diesel 3/4 to...
The inspection was done on the cow & bull (see "did you name your rig" thread) and other than a few things wrong, which are normal wear & tear issues, like needing to reseal the rubber roof and replace the brake pads), it's in pretty good condition, that I feel safe enough to buy it. It...
So we're driving on US 20 in New Yorl near little town called Alden. We researched clearances, double checked All Stays but came over a little crest and a sign sayng 12' 6" clearance under a RR overpass. There had been no warnings anywhere That we could see in advance and our Truckers/Garmin's war...
I have been silent for a few months because I have had two serious illness and recent deaths in my family. My brother, who was diagnosed with ALS in March 2013 passed away on March 6, 2014. And my mother, who was in excellent shape for 80, suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on December 7, 2013 & was h...
Don't know if this is the proper location for this query, if not, I apologize, otherwise, here goes...The wiffie and I are considering a little workamping next year and are looking at some of the postings at COE locations. After speaking to a representative at one location I now understand these pos...
After a diligent search for an inspector to do an inspection for me...all the way across the country, I have finally found a solution. Has anyone ever used Pinnacle Automobile Appraisers? I found them on another blog and they are located in 47 states across the country. I am having them do a complet...
Lucky but not. Today Diane was out walking Jack and all of a sudden a fire truck and a couple cop cars went scooting though the park. Of course because Diane and Jack were out I decided to head out myself and make sure they were ok. And they were. However what wasn’t ok is a RV that obviously had an issue with...
Custom built truck bed for sale....see link to our posting on Craigslist. With this bed, you can haul your fifth wheel or tow behind camper and your Harley or other motorcycle. It includes a Pull-Rite 5th wheel hitch, tool boxes, and a canvas enclosure for your bike. Ride on; ride off design. It d...
Our carriage Cameo suits us in many ways, but the dining table and chairs are a total waste of space for us. We never sit at the table, and it's always covered with stuff which just hasn't got a home of it's own. There is the bowl of fruit, the icemaker, French press, toaster oven, etc etc. so--my grand sc...
For now, we are weekending it whenever we can. So we add contents to our holding tanks for two or three days. That is not long enough for the black tank contents to break down. At the end of the trip we dump all the tanks. Black first, then the two grays. I can't imagine that the chunks in the black are floatin...
Will be heading to Las Vegas mid June. Anyone got any ideas for the best park? I have done a lot of research, but the reviews are all over the place. Thanking you in advance, PK, in La.
Pam and I bought the Rand McNally GPS trip planner for RV's at the Escapee Rally in Goshen IA. We have found it to be very accurate with directions with plenty of warning for lane changes. This seems to be better than google maps. Features: Walmart locations pre-programmed into it with there phone nu...
Hi all,
We are deep in our transition and because of work commitments are not telling most folks about our long-term plans, and this is the place where I can be completely open about whats happening. I appreciate that. So I wanted to share where we were...mainly just to say it "out loud" I k...
I ruined another tire on the 5th wheel yesterday........ Frustrating to say the least. Tire less than a year old, had a nail in it and got low while we were driving back from lake and ruined the side wall. We always check tires before heading out each day, but once we are on the move I can't see them.I want to...
I'm trying to figure out a way to avoid what happened to us this past Monday as we traveled through southern / central Oregon. Situation. we had to be in Springfield OR Tuesday morning so AM Solar could start on our solar install. We had decided Memorial Day weekend in the Mount Shasta area would be fun,...
I am 2 years from retirement so we are putting things in motion to go full timing when I retire. So as you can imagine, i am so happy I found this site. I have a 75 mile one way daily commute which is getting real expensive so we have decided to rent a spot in an RV park near my work and live in it during the work wee...
Feeling excited that we just worked our first job to pay for our space at a retreat center called Project Patch here in Goldendale Washington. It was a wonderful stay and enjoyed this area sooooo much. It is beautiful here in the Spring. Glad to get out before the heat comes though. it was also nice t...
Wow, I can't believe how much "stuff" we just donated or threw away from our basement in the 5th wheel. Amazing how many things we brought along just in case, or thought we would eventually use. Wrong!! We moved into our 5th wheel on our driveway just over a year ago and have been living in i...
Even though we have only had our Forest River Cardinal 41' 5th wheel less than a year, we have been thinking of switching to a Class A so today we went out to just look around. On our travels we ran across a 38' Class A Winnebago Adventure (2014)with 4,000 miles that had just been traded in for a smaller ...
I did it, I did it, I feel like a young kid again. I feel like Steve Martin in the Jerk when he said, my name is in the phone book, I'm somebody LOL ....!!!! Two places, at the top and then all the way down the page at this site. At the top my charger. At the bottom my battery bank. http://blog.wireandcabletogo...
I am oh so casually looking at bigger trucks for sale, in order to get a feel for what we might be spending in a year or so to upgrade. I like fords and have had three 7.3 engines over the past 20 (holy cow!) years and if I could find a 450 or 550 4x4 crew cab with low miles in great shape I'd be really tempted to go...
A reminder that today is the "recognized" day to memorialize those that gave their lives for our freedoms. By their actions and sacrifices, we all have the freedom to live in a lifestyle that lets us travel all over our country and not have to show "papers" at each border we cros...
I'm not an electrician and have no clue how to wire any of this stuff, so i'm not going to even try. I'll order parts from the web and save a few bucks over what my RV dealer would charge and hire an electrician to do the install. I bought a 27ft 2013 Aspen Trail 2390RKS brand new last year and i'd love to ditch t...
There are some very impressive posts about technology here and how their applications are made. I would keep our current cell phones and plan and take the laptop and the wife would take her kindle and ipad. I would only need radio to hear baseball and college football and would skip television altog...
