Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
So tonight as we're both packing, preparing to leave the house on wheels that we moved into a year and 3 days ago, I am so HAPPY that this packing nonsense is an occasional thing. We made the decision a couple of months ago that we wanted to try to avoid driving the rig into the Bay Area, specifically into t...
My almost-SIL and daughter are moving to the Salt Lake City area and need to find a 5th wheel to live in full-time. Does anyone have a recommendation for a dealer in that area, or ones to avoid?
We start our journey to Alaska on June 9. Have a few questions. 1. In taking produce into Canada - allowed or not. We like fresh veggies and fruit. 2. We use credit cards for almost everything. However we do carry some cash. For a three month trip, how much is enough? Do most campgrounds accept c...
As I sit here looking around my new 5th wheel (still in awe sometimes of just how in love with it I am compared to my last one), it makes me wonder what drew everyone else to the particular model/brand they chose? Price? Layout? Amenities? Size?.....Were you torn between MH or 5'er or TT? The more I sit h...
Got new computer yesterday. Had to - my Acer runs on XP which Microsoft stops supporting in April Toshiba with Windows 7 has given me fits since day one. Been in shop for various issues so many times I can't remember. Giving up on it. So, now here I am. Gotta learn something new. Takes time...
I guess my lurking days and (or, as my daughter calls it), "Giraffe-necking" my wife's computer are now officially over, as I just created a new id for my ROAD-days. OK: about me: GEEK ALERT. I was a Nerd, back when being a Geek meant you bit the head off of a chicken. Think, "Revenge o...
ok, I know this is a first world problem, but for goodness sakes, what on earth is the problem?! I paid this fellow 175.00 hard earned dollars and he was very nice and it was working when he left. But for real, his truck wasn't even out of sight when it crashed. No satellite signal, the screen says 'acqui...
Hello, here is my situation: I am a pilot that lives in Chicago. At some point I will be based out of some other city and will need a place to stay for about 8-15 nights a month. Pilots often use a "crash pad" for temporary housing when they live out of city. This is an apartment shared by 10-20 guy...
just came across this, and haven't had a chance to REALLY investigate this yet. BUT... FreedomPop Wireless seems interesting? according to the slickdeals website quoted above: FreedomPop offers free wireless internet access for up to 500MB each and every month with the purchase of a hotspot...
Hi Everyone, My son and I are committed to fulltime rving but financially at this time I'm not in a position to purchase the RV that we would need for fulltime. I am able to run my business from anywhere that I have internet access (RV Park or my broadband account) so this is what I was considering... Purch...
I had just gotten used to the idea of full timing and could see myself very comfortably fitting into an older 34ft motorhome. But, I have a tight budget, can one actually find free places to stay in that size motorhome? And what kind of terrain can a Class C drive over? How about a Class A? Also, I was plan...
Not sure if this is in the right place, so Terry feel free to move it if necessary In one of Howard's recent blog posts he mentioned having a service come out and wash / detail the rig. I remember this being offered at the fall rally in 2012 in Harrisburg OR. After starting on the roof cleaning Friday, fol...
Don't know if this is the right forum, but I need some ideas. Our TT has a big closet in the bathroom with the hanging poles across the top to hang clothes. When I hang my clothes there, when pulling the camper, they all fall down to the floor. I cannot figure out how to keep them from falling off the rods. ...
We are Dave & Sher, currently living in NJ. We just listed our house for sale yesterday and plan to begin full timing as soon as the house sells. We have picked out the 5th wheel (Open Range 345rls) and yet to decide on which 1 ton pickup to buy. We'll make a decision on that after we test drive the big 3 ma...
Hello all, I just bought a new laptop computer that will be used for Ham radio logging and RV related things, (no grand kids use for games and all they do). My question is what brand type of security software do y'all use, the laptop runs windows7. thanks Jim
From the time we first moved into our fifth wheel almost 2 years ago, we've noticed that sometimes the lights get suddenly brighter, usually for no apparent reason. Also, if we have two lights on and turn one off, the one left on gets brighter. We, being brand new to RVs of any kind, just thought it was n...
We are inside 6 months on our timeline to purchase a used DP and 12 months from hitting the road. As we close in on the model we want, I notice that lenders either do not loan on coaches over 10 years old or the rates/down payment is higher. We estimate that we will full-time for 3 years beginning in 2015. ...
Hey all, My wife and I are new to RVing. We hope to be fulltimers by the end of the year. Our 5er is a 2001 Gulfstream Yellowstone 13,500 GVWR with a 1996 F250 7.3 diesel. Is it possible to loose 20lbs of air pressure in my RV tires after driving 18 hours? After arriving home in Nashville from Florida I check...
Well, I finally did it! We had nothing but "down time" in our cabin in Hot Springs over this past weekend so I got brave and taught myself how to create and update a blog. So, I invite my fellow dreamers to follow us here: http://itsourmomentintime.wordpress.com/. I hope you enjoy! -- E...
After selling our kayaks over a year ago in preparation for fulltiming, then my whining all summer about missing kayaking, then seeing the inflatables demonstrated at the Spring Rally - we caved and went back and got kayaks again. This time we got them much shorter: mine is 2 ft. shorter than the one I h...
This was posted to a facebook site that I follow.First to answer ? About being paid too: We are not able to do more then this. We are bringing back to life a resort that was run into the ground & working VERY hard restoring & also creating new uses for our park like setting I.e. a venue destination...
I am wondering what solution others may have come up with to full time with both a toad and a lightmotorcycle. We will be going with a motorhome but the weight figures don't seem to work out with gas units. At this point we don't really want the extra outlay and expense for a diesel. Any tips or experience w...
Doing research for places to stay our first winter in Arizona. CalAm resorts offers a lot of Parks and while the pictures are wonderful there is nothing like first hand experience. I will check the reviews on RVPark reviews but I would love to hear the pros and cons from the Dreamer family if any of y...
I'm not typical an in some ways probably not normal, no surprise. I grew up in Denver and have spent the lions share of the past three decades in the southern tier where there is no snow and long hot summers. I used to be allergic to cold. As I get older I find myself more allergic to 110 degree days. At any ra...
Thanks to Bill & Linda and Howard & Linda and many others we had the MorRyde IS system AND disc brakes installed on our Trilogy last week. This was about our 4th appointment at MorRyde, we had to cancel two earlier appointments because blizzards in the prior 8 months kept diverting us. When we...
I did a search but many of the threads about this are rather old. I hope you don't mind me starting this up again... What is the most comprehensive emergency roadside assistance plans out there for full timers? I think I recall reading once about a plan that if the truck broke down, they would also tow t...
