Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
So, I was surfing my campground app looking for places that I might want to visit when I stumbled across "Campland On The Bay" near San Diego. For a meager $170 to $250 a day you can stay in the "Supersite". The description is below. This campground has a summer concert series, a g...
We're heading down there this Thursday, with a stop over the weekend in Raleigh to spend with daughter and her hubby. Hope to be near Orlando by Tuesday. Plans for the next week or 2 will be Pompano Beach / Miami (maybe?), Naples / Ft. Myers, Sarasota, Green Cove Springs, then Panama City Beach (all fo...
I'm thinking I may want to invest in a duplex I've had my eye on. The numbers work; location and condition are excellent, and I have an excellent handyman with whom I have worked for over 20 years, and who I trust to take very good care of the place. Only, I only intend to be in that area in the summer, so wil...
today I had the huge upper cabinet over the kitchen sink removed and already it makes a world of difference in the 'feel' of the space. it's so much more open and I'm really looking forward to doing dishes without having to bend in half and/or smacking my head on the thing. Now I can see just how tiny the...
I thought I'd start this to see who has some great recipes to share using the Breville 800XL (or similar). There are some recipes in the user manual. The unit looks capable of performing some neat things. Please post up some of your good recipes and experiences.
We have been getting rid of "stuff" and preparing our S&B home for sale for the last several weeks. My next door neighbors just moved out of their house, as they have a buyer. Well, those "buyers" walked over to introduce themselves and we told them we probably wouldn't be th...
Tomorrow begins our first round of cleaning things out and getting rid of stuff in perpetration for full timing in 1 year, 11 months. It was surprisingly easy to put stuff in the pile to be sold or tossed. A few items were abit of trouble and some we're put aside for now. I'm sure there will be a pon ther sal...
My pretty, clean truck has become a trash truck! Later, yesterday, it was full to overflowing and I made the trip to the county landfill. I wonder how many more trips I'll have to make! Oh well, it's just another step towards full timing!
We have a neighbor who is a newbie with a hitch I have never seen and I think is wrong. I think this is a transport hitch arrangement. I think this is just not right. Can somebody help? Please take a look at the hitch pictures I took below.
we have an ac in the bedroom and as both of us like it very cool we keep the thing on pretty much constantly. but lately, even on the hottest days I notice the bed sheets feel clammy when I go to bed. I have a latex topper on top of a good thick futon, with a thick wool topper just under the fitted sheet. I've nev...

It took a long time but in clearing out more of the garage and office today, he wasn't hesitant at all in throwing things his old computers and parts away / putting t hem in the recycle pile. After the first purging (to ready the house for the market), there were still a lot of things he put on the side becau...
WOW this cabinet feels welded on to the wall! it's a 19' deep cabinet over the kitchen sink, on which we whack our heads on routinely, so it's being removed. The poor guy has been at it for well over an hour, being super careful not to tear the wallpaper and saving all of the trim and finish work. So far he's...
Has anyone stayed at the Rainbow RV Park in South Fork, or know of some good ones in the vacinity for extended stays?-- Edited by Summersquash on Friday 25th of April 2014 02:31:25 PM

It took longer than expected, but we've finally listed our house on the market! Lost count of how many loads went to Salvation Army, how much was lugged to garbage. But the house actually feels lighter, and we now know exactly what's where. Purging is good not only in anticipation of fulltime rvin...
The search is still continuing for a Rv for the wife and I. I planned on looking at two units yesterday, but wound up only looking hard at the second unit. The first one was in a city very close by and was 5 years old and understood by me to be a family class A gas rig that was being sold to purchase a large 5th wh...
Hello everyone. Our RV adventure started almost two years ago with a tiny R-Pod. We quickly figured out that with two humans and three dogs we needed more space. After three trips in three months we traded in our beloved R-Pod for a Keystone Passport travel trailer. We enjoy traveling and have visit...
We are weighing the costs/benefits of paying cash or taking out a loan for a used motorhome. Normally, I like paying cash, but some of our assumptions and considerations indicate it may not be the best move. I appreciate your inputs on my assumptions and calculations listed below:Assumptions- ...
My husband and I are seriously considering buying a fifth wheel and living in it full time on his parents' property for a few great reasons, and we're really excited to get the ball rolling. There are a few people doing it openly in our town so I know that we are fine as far as codes and things. I've been im...
So, we have officially been houseless but not homeless (to quote one of our RV Dreams Family members) for just under a year. This weekend we returned to the area where we used to live, with a goal to complete 3 art shows for Dale's business, visit family and friends and shrink the storage room. This is th...
Looking to add a replaceable cartridge water filter to our fresh water intake system instead of the single use throw away one I started with. Looking through the forum and googling indicates that short of going the expensive, built in whole house system the optimum idea is something like the FloPur d...

Good morning, Question 1: What does the overdrive option mean on a 1996 F-250 7.3 diesel? I've tried looking it up in the Ford manual but unfortunately its clear as mud in that book (thanks Ford). I'm wondering when the overdrive option could be used and when it shouldn't. Question 2: Whats the proper...
Hello all. We have about 2 years until I retire from the AF and start our full timing adventure and I have a few questions for all the seasoned full timers out there. First of all, I was wondering what kind of tools and spare parts everyone carries (if any)? I am very handy and do most of my own auto and home re...
