Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Well, the time has come. We've been playing around with the idea of settling in one place for months and we've finally taken action. We'll close on our future home, hopefully by the end of the month and will sell the Big Horn and Ram truck. We can't actually sell until we move into the new place, but we'...
Who has noticed that Soda Stream has re-designed their product line? They have done away with a lot of flavors and are trying to introduce new ones, like Cucumber/Mango? I think they call it re-branding. The concentrate is more expensive and comes in smaller quantities. WHY? Just when I find some...
Getting ready for our Road Trip 2015! Been doing lots of little repairs and odds and end to get ready. We are about as planned as we are going to be and itching to go. We are currently planning to be snowbirds for a couple of years...that is, until the real estate market turns around and we sell our home. Right now we are trying to figure out how to monitor our brick and mortar home while we are gone.
We live in a rural area. We have no cable on our road, and Verizon is th...
We've had this 12v compressor fridge installed in our RV (self installed, self built motorhome) for 5 years. When it was first installed it only needed 12.75v to start it. Then, after one year it needed about 13v, another year 13.5v.... Now it needs 14.25v to start, but our alternator won't produce th...
I was filling up my truck and noticed the outside rear tire on the driver's side wasn't seated against the rim. I saw what looked like a bolt sticking out of the tread. It turned out to be a large wheel weight. It went through the tread and was over an inch into the inside of the tire. So a GoodYear G47 with o...
Hello Everyone............simple question........How do I go about adding my Picture to my Profile? I'm a bit new here and still learning this great website. Thanks! Henry Sanchez Sacramento, CA
Newbie needs direction. New RV queen matress needs bedding. Should I get a waterproof, bug and allergen resistant matress pad cover? I'm worried that it will be hot to sleep on due to plastic. An issue? Yet, I want to protect my investment. It is stored aprox 6 mos per year in an outdoor storage pr...
We have a Winnebago Sightseer 33c (2015), with a Sureflo water pump. The pump has been working fine for 3+ months now, but suddenly stopped pumping. We just tried to prime it (disconnected from the campground water supply, turned on the pump, and opened the cold water taps), but still nothing. Now...
I'm so close to the quitting point. Everyone has been so supportive for the past year that we've been full timing and even a few have commented on how they admire my strength and resilience and positive attitude. But I have to confess that I'm getting very close to reaching my breaking point and calling...
Hi all, Throwing a question out for the more experienced folks. We are staying on a friends piece of property for a couple of weeks and I have a couple etiquette questions. The first is around contributing in lieu of paying for a place to stay. Do you feel the need to buy the people you are staying with a...
Hello! I'm brand new to this forum and to the world of RVing. We recently purchased a used Holiday Rambler Atlantis. I was excited to see that there was a convection oven. Sadly the unit didn't come with the metal tray insert that I understand is essential for the halftime and convection cooking....
My husband and I have been struggling with finding the right RV to fit our needs. We want to be able to go to festivals in the summer and fall(week ends, we have a seasonal business) and we are almost ready to be snow birds in florida in Jan, Feb, March. I believe we prefer resorts with things to do. We live...
Win/10 I'm just Lovin' It! I installed Win/10 HP on my old revived Win/8 HP that I had downgraded to Win/7 HP. Installed 8 GB RAM and a 1 TB HD so it screams. Still no home servive so use Chick-Fil-A; MCD's or the Library WiFi. Have MalwareBytes; Windows Defender and McAffee for security.-- Edited by Ho...
I was planning on having Palmer Energy Systems do our coach. But now the website is dead. Does anyone know if he is still in business? If so, could someone please forward his contact info? Thanks!
Hi everyone! I'm an actor/writer/producer, and when I'm not doing those more glamorous jobs, I do film/TV production coordinating and management. Despite the obvious use of RV's on a film set (like Leo DeCaprio's King Kong pop-out mega bus) there are other uses. Then I found this site and thought RV...
I am thinking about going to one of the BIG RV shows. Which one is the best and for what reason do you feel that way? Thanks for the help. I am trying to get the wife on board and doing this lifestyle in the next year or two.
Everything has been working fine until we pulled into a new campsite on Monday, where they have FHU with 50 and 30 amp service, allegedly very new. It was very hot so we were running both a/c's without a problem. Until the middle of the night, when the power went off. It should be noted that our site was...
We've just finished our second year and I thought it might be time to report back on our maintenance costs during our two years. We travel in our RV only half the year with the Winters spent away from the RV in Mazatlán, Mexico. The first year we circled the USA and put 11,000 miles on the RV. This last y...
Just read an article in the newspaper regarding the fatal accident Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner was involved in on PCH in Malibu earlier this year. The lead detective on the case is presenting his findings to the DA for possible prosecution. He indicated the investigation has determined Jenner was trave...
Always wanted to be in the movies? We are looking for a friendly owner of a Class C type (nothing too big) to house one of our actors from LA from Aug. 26 to Sep. 13 around Olympia and Tacoma, WA. We will pay a stipend for fuel, free coffee, visit to the set, tickets to our premiere, and bragging rights to say...
I am wondering if anyone out there has had experience with the louvered style 5th wheel tailgates. I have heard that due to their lighter weight and flow thru air design they save fuel. As my F450 has the 4:88's in it, it is not at all fuel friendly. I need to repair the stock tailgate ( due to a split second o...
I have a 2001 F350 that has the 5th wheel tailgate. The tailgate has no markers to let me know who the manufacturer is. I'd like to get new tailgate cables for my truck but the problem is the shoulder bolt on the tailgate takes a 7/16 socket and the cable is ~19" long. The ford cable is 21" long...
We are on a 2 1/2 month summer trip right now and are curious if others get the same responses from campground owners and staff. We run a Progressive EMS-LCHW50 on our coach. So far this summer we have been to 23 different campgrounds making our way around our big loop. Twice now our surge protector has...
It was a tough thing tonight but we lost our cat of 17 years. He was the sweetest thing, and our golden is already missing him. I know that it would have been tougher traveling with him, and our dog, but he was such a part of our life for so many years, that we will surely miss him. I know that he's at rainbow...
I coming to where the experts are for some very much needed advice. I'm looking at a 99 Monaco Dynasty 40ft one owner. A very nice and well maintained coach. Drives like a dream at any speed. Question, is there anything in particular about this RV that I should be looking for? and a ballpark figure on...
Howdy to everyone reading this forum, our new family of campers that we are meeting every weekend! Rosie and I have only been doing this for short of 3 years now, and we can't wait for the next trip to start, every time we get back home! Currently we are driving around in a Jayco Greyhawk 31ss, and it has rea...
Just received this notification from my GPS service.... Rand McNally has released a construction file to the Dock to reflect the ongoing closure of the northbound I-65 bridge between Lebanon and Lafayette. The Indiana Department of Transportation recently announced that the bridge will not re...
I've spent a ton of time looking but have not had any luck yet.. I bought a 2001 F350 that has a fifth wheel tailgate. The tailgate does not have any markings on it as to what brand it is. I'm trying to find some tailgate cables that will work with it. The standard ford replacement cables are ~21"lon...
