Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are just starting the process of becoming full-timers with the goal of being in the class of 2017. This forum has been absolutely invaluable with the questions, answers, discussions, general info and links to other sites. It seems like there are a million and one things to consider with a decisi...
Was a happy day, got the chance to meet Coleen and Jerry, Thanks for starting out day off with a smile!!!!! Hope if/when anyone may arrive in mesa, we can all share some time. Happy Travels
I want to build a rather heavy solar system for full-timing in a travel trailer (actually 2 separate systems, a 12v and a 48v one). However finding TTs that will carry this much weight are hard to find and limit my choices considerably. I was just toying with the idea of mounting my high voltage solar pan...
Earlier this summer we got the unexpected news that my teleworker status was being revoked and I was now tied back to my Bellevue WA office and expected to be in the office on a regular basis. That of course, put us in to a big spin, trying to figure out where to live, how to stay mobile as much as possible, e...
I don't see anything in the forum about what vacuum people are using. Many of the newer RV's have vacuums already installed but if you don't have one, what's the best to get. Do the installed vacuums work well? Please advise. I have a friend also that's waiting for an answer. Thanks in advance
How about the new home page picture for RV dreams! That image of Howard fly fishing has been very inspiring over the years. Rocked my world a bit to see it change. Keep up the inspiring work Howard and Linda!
After waiting for 3 hours for a tech who could change a flat tire on our Fifth Wheel we have decided to purchase a Rapid Jack. It cost us $60 and looks pretty amazing. Lee feels this would allow him to safely change a trailer tire if this ever happens again. Plus it works on our dually's and does about 5 ot...
We're buying our first RV. Heading to the dealer, our decision was a class C , thinking it was a good choice as a first time purchase....but we wanted to see all classes again. Well, a 36' 2005 Winnebago Journey Diesel with 44k miles had become available. Clean, looks cared for, well equipped, etc. P...
Good Evening! My husband and I are on a "two year" plan. We did a good bit of camping when the kids were small - tents, pop-ups. 20 years later, with three grown children and two grandchildren, hubby said, "Let's get a camper!" last year. I gave him a tiny budget to stay within a...
We are staying in Moab for 2 weeks right now and plan to head to Torrey Utah next to experience Capital Reef, then Bryce and then Zion. Time is of no concern to us but don't need to hang around an area a bunch more than needed to tour it so my question is, How much time is needed to experience each spot?
First post on this forum. My wife and I sold our house a lot faster than we thought we would and now we are almost homeless we have decided to go the RV way. So a couple questions have come up we have been looking for a while now and have determined that either a motorhome or 5th wheel are the way to go. On the...
Hey everyone! How do you prevent water from pounding in your slide out awning? I saw someone using a beach ball once. We were considering a balloon perhaps (in case we forget it's there, so it can pop). I'm still worried that it may mess with the slide if it doesn't pop right away. Thoughts?
We own a 2012 KZ Spree 260. We don't get to use it often enough, mostly long weekend trips. We have been very happy with it and its perfect for the two of us but we usually bring others along. We pull it with a Chevy 2500HD and can't decide on another TT or 5th wheel. I think I would like a Class A but am not su...
Hi,I was hoping for a bit of advice pleaseI'm trying to remove the water pump from my Vogue Villa Grande (1979) and have run into an issue. I can't seem to get the radiator out at all! It seems to be in a surround which is bolted to the chassis which I've undone and have undone all the hoses etc but the radiato...
So we went to the Hershey show and the DH and I really loved the DRV 39DBR - and my DH was the one that kept telling me all winter long that he wanted to keep our coach under 40'! So much for that! We are not ready to FT yet and we do want to buy used, but I would say that right now the DRV is #1 for us. However......
As you can probably tell, I am new to the forum. Hopefully I am doing this right. I have spent many, many hours reading all the topics and learned sooooo much. Thank you all for your knowledge. My husband and I have been camping our whole married life (46 yrs) and are now retired. We will be "snowbird...
Hello everyone, You have help us with several other questions we have had since we started our full timing back in January and we need your help once again. We are full timing but we are both still at our jobs. My husband is a sales rep. for a tire company and I am an artist with Painting With a Twist. I lov...
I just signed up a few days ago and introduced myself. We're still working through which type of RV will best suit our needs. As I said in my introduction, I'm leaning to a tow behind. I've kind of reconciled the "lose the roof over your heads for repairs" consideration since a few people h...
Hi Everyone!I believe I had warned you all that I would be doing a second year one end blog post. The first one was more about "stuff" while this one is more about (at the title says) thoughts and reflections. There are a few topics that got left out of the first one that I talk about also.Than...
I participate in three different RV-related forums (and several others on other topics) and RV-Dreams is the only forum that functions the way it does with email notifications for new posts in subscribed threads. That is: when I receive an email that there's a new post in a thread to which I am subscri...
This past week while staying at an RV Resort near San Diego I decided to conduct an un-scientific test. The outside daily temps were around 84 degrees with 68% humidity. Let me set the scene: The spot we were in faced north and south with no shade trees. Our 20 year old 38ft 5th wheel is equipped with a Duo T...
Hi everyone, let me tell you a bit about myself. I found this site while I was doing research on RVs. Why was I doing that you ask? Well, my wife likes to take vacations, and lets be honest, who doesn't. But her preferred vacation was cruises and now that we have kids those aren't as practical or romanti...
My name is Glen. My wife and I live in south Florida and are planning to sell our home and just about everything we have and purchase a medium sized Travel lite and begin a new lifestyle. We are now trying to gather input and advice for our new venture and we hope that all the experienced travelers on this si...

Hi we are going to buy a keystone cougar 30 ft 12000 gross weight, 9800 for the 5 th wheel and 2200 for contents. looking at buying a dodge 2500 or a Silverado 2500 i read the tow weight of the dodge is 18000 lbs, ie the new 2015 trucks anyone have thoughts on either the keystone cougar or the truck size?
Just wondering how you handle the "How much did it cost?". I know we have a unique Rv and we have been blessed to be able to be at the right place at the right time. We never want to appear rude, so my DH usually answers more than "2 shiny nickels". The reality is we would never have g...
When it's hot out and you are boondocking, what do you do (especially at night, when you want to get to sleep) to keep cool? a. Run our Fantastic fans, open the windows. (possibly sleeping in a hammock outdoors) b. Run the generator from time to time to cool off with AC. c. Move to higher elevation/farthe...
Hello fellow dreamers! I have been a lurker for a long time and have learned so much from you all! Thank you. We have not bought a rig yet but are considering a 2004 Itasca Sunrise 38J. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am worried that at 55,000 miles the gasser may be a little old but heck...
