Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Wife and I are growing concerned about the state of the country. With the divide in politics, economy, unrest due to BLM and Muslims/Hate groups etc, we feel we should be better prepared to bug out if the need arises. My research on line hasn't helped much. Most of it is geared toward local events and...
Is there any reason not to get a household power washer to clean the rig with? We've got a fiberglass roof so no worries about tearing rubber…and obviously I would be careful not to inadvertently unseat any of the caulking on roof seams or penetrations…but just wondering if it's completely safe for us...
I just wanted to share something about recently replacing my shocks with gas filled Bilstein shocks just in case anyone wants to refer to any information about my situation. I do not work for them or represent them in any way. I have a 2002 Pace Arrow 37A Ford chassis coach. There was quite a bit of sid...
we are wanting to buy a vented washer/dryer for the coach, if anyone has one they would like to sell please let us know. Thanks Barry and Linda 660-373-1850
Looking to see if anyone has put this system on the RV and the results of it. I'm looking at next April just before the rally having it done on our 5'er. Met 1 guy who had it installed and has over 40k miles with no issues at all he loves it. Thx for any feedback you might have. Chris.
I've been looking at a new 2017 Newmar Canyon Star 3710 38' gas coach. The other day after driving the Canyon Star, they had a new 2016 Thor Palazzo 36.1. Just on a lark I decided to drive it, I say on a lark because I've read terrible things about it. From the front cabinets above the driver falling down...
We originally chose a Ford F350 DWR and were in the process of locating one, but we have recently read reports that the exhaust brake did not perform as well as the Chevy 3500. Does anyone have experience with either of these? We have family in Colorado so will be traveling over mountain passes. Any th...
Surely there are some birders on the forum. I know H&L are. Any suggestions/recommendations for new birders like us? Interest is in photographing birds then identifying them. Consider something like the Bushnell 10X42 H2O Porro from B&H for binoculars. Considering adding a Nikko...
Texas now requires a non-commercial Class A license if the rig exceeds 26k lbs. My question: what is the rule of thumb for the added weight of 'stuff' (dishes, furniture, food, fuel, water, golf clubs, etc., etc.). I know the only true way to determine the actual weight is to (drum roll, please.......
I hadn't used my RV since last summer and when I got to my RV I realized I never disconnected my starting battery. I went to start my RV yesterday and when I turned the ignition and all I got was a clicking sound. The gauge on my dashboard read that I was getting about 10 volts from the battery. Is it possible t...
We are looking at a fifth wheel for our future retirement. We will be using the RV for lengthy stays to escape both the heat of summer and cold of winter. We've narrowed our selection down to three different brands. The Grand Design Reflection, Dutchman Denali, or Open Range Roamer. Any recommendati...
Hey all you sewists! I am trying to get ready to go full timing and want to take my sewing with me. I do mostly doll clothes and a few kitchen type items, but I haven't figured out how to store fabric. Of course I know I can't take my whole stash, but would like to be able to take a good selection of fabrics. I kno...
Hello folks. The wife and I have camped for the past 10 years or so. We started with a Fleetwood Bayside tent camper and moved into a Rockwood Roo hybrid camper. Since we've been married, we've talked about full timing after I retire. We've been back and forth on what we want to live in when that time c...
We are crossing the border next week and we have 2 house plants. Has anybody had any experience with this and is it an issue? I researched this both on the Canada and the US border sites and found that houseplants are OK if part of your personal effects and are not staying in Canada. They do seem to have i...
I think that health insurance may be the sole reason that we are afraid to retire and enjoy our selves in our RV. We were looking at retiring in 2016 at 62 but not sure that will happen due to insurance. I would like to hear what everyone else does that does not have medicare. Any good recommendations, we ar...
Hello, I'm a long time RV camper having started out with a 19' Terry Taurus in 1978. My wife, two sons, and I traveled in that rig towed by my parent's 1978 Chevy pickup from our home in Pennsylvania until we bought a used International Travelall in 1980. We traveled the Rockies about every year for 10 yea...
Looking at tow vehicles for a fifth wheel. Is there any reason the Megacab with it's 6'4" bed wouldn't do just as well as the Crewcab with it's 8' bed?
Seen a RVer come in the park, and set up a mobile panel wire fence around pretty much his whole campsite.. then lets his 3 smaller/med sized dogs run around in there.. I thought was a great idea.. as we have our dog on a small steel cable when we sit outside..But dog gets wrapped around stuff.. and is still e...
Anyone know of an RV friendly route around Albuquerque NM? We travel I-40 from Tucumcari NM to Gallup and really dislike going through Albuquerque. We've found other alternative routes to our final destination in Utah, especially the highway going from Gallup NM to Tuba City AZ. Thanks
Sorry if I should have posted this in the community chat section..... Anyway, DH (unbeknownst to me) emptied the black tank and attached the hose to back flush. He didn't mention it, and we went out for a little while. And yes, you guessed it -- he totally forgot to turn it off and we returned to a flood i...
In 2010, I was a proud owner of a new 2010 Gulfstream class A 38 footer, model 8367; we had our problems with that piece of junk since we put it on the road. We always had problems with extending and retracting our extensions, it was common to us and the hydraulic leveling system was a PITA also. We had it ser...
Hello everyone! My hubby and I are retired and have just made the huge decision to sell up and RV! We are excited, scared, sad, and thrilled. Still wild and crazy at 65! We are Canadians which makes the whole process harder, I think. We have to be back in Canada for 6 months every year to maintain our statu...
If you need a job, Sitewatch is looking for crews in Texas ASAP. Go to www.swgateguards.com and answer and submit the questions/photos. Great company to work for!
An often repeated theme I've read is, "It's not vacation, it's life". The warning seems to be that full time RV'ing can't be one big vacation. I agree with this theory on many levels, BUT that is not how life has turned out for us during the last three years. Life seems to be one big vacation. Maybe we a...
We had our TT in storage for a year. During that time water got in around a bad seal. The sub-floor has rotted out and the slide has dropped in the front. Has anyone dealt with this problem and is too much to take on myself. Does anyone have a recommendation of a repair facility iin the Nashville middle TN ar...
Dranoel you replied to an old topic called "propane tank gauges" which has since been closed. Since this is a topic I am also currently interested in, I opened a new thread You mentioned the Mopeka TankCheck sensor and the accompanying app which looks to be a very interesting product. Fro...
Going over lessons learned on my shakedown cruise, I come to the scrape I put on the trailer trying to maneuver a too-small gas station when I couldn't find a large enough one and was down to fumes. This was of course entirely my fault. But in addition to practicing my towing a lot, I would like to fin...
Good Morning! We are new to this board. Figured it was a good way to start our search for the perfect RV and ask some questions. We are still in a stick home with loads of square footage that feels smaller and smaller every day. Randy works about 70 hours a week and Tracy is a stay at home person. We have 2 kids...
