Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi everyone, My wife and I are starting the process for the RVing lifestyle. We believe that a 5th wheel is the right unit for us. We got a great intro to the Grand Design Solitude model over the weekend. This company seems to have a great product and the dealer has awesome reviews. As far as a truck to pull w...
Help! In October I bought a 2015 ford expedition with a tow package (supposed to tow 9200 lbs). I got my Jayco Jay Feather in May and am having trouble driving the SUV. The weight of the trailer is 6,080 (I had it weighed last week) although specs say it shouldn't weigh more than 5,995 with cargo. Okay...
I bought 4 new Goodyear G614's and towed the rig from the tire place to storage ... about 20 miles. In preparation for a trip a week or so later, I discovered a screw in one the new tires ... it didn't look flat, but was. I got the tire and it's adjoining side mate both replaced, assuming that the other tire...
Good Afternoon Hubby and I are long time RVers starting out with a small pop up to our current 30ft fifth wheel soon to be replaced with a 39ft9in Augusta Ambition. We are getting close to retirement and will be in the Ambition about 8 to 9 month a year. I look forward to being part of your community
i just got a new truck (2016 F350 DRW 6.7 Powerstroke). It's about 2 inches lower than the truck it replaced (2014 F350 SRW 6.7 Powerstroke). The trailer (41 ft, 15,000 lbs 5th wheel) now sits 1" low in the front. Previously it was level to 1 inch high in front. My actual current measurements are 26 inc...
Soon I will be purchasing my first RV. I will be traveling with my sister sometimes, my sweetheart some, and by myself occasionally, for a total of 4 to 5 months total per year. I seem to find a lot of used Winnebagos and Fleetwood in my price range ($20,000) but I consistently seem to fall for the Newmar! M...
For many years we had a TT and used an 'astro turf' type mat outside the trailer. We recently purchased a new 5th wheel and would like a larger mat, not astro turf. I've been looking online for a new mat - but it's hard to determine the quality of a product. What type of outdoor mat/carpet do you use? How l...
Hi, I want to keep KY as my home of record but have no family here to use their address. I've read a lot on here about changing residency to FL, TX, and SD but nothing on the UPS service... they will give you a street address and forward mail. I am wondering why many switch their resident state when this is...
I have been a serious horse person my entire life, but six years into my (semi) retirement, I am considering selling the farm and becoming a full-time rv'er (I'm a healthy, adventurous, pretty handy, and mechanically inclined woman who has trailered horses around the country for years). I'm too ol...
I am retiring next year and plan to travel around the country for about a year I am a 65 year old women with no experience. I not sure whether to get a trailer or a fifth wheel I have heard that the fifth wheels are more stable and easier to maneuver I just don't know if I will be able to handle the hitch. Ar...
Hi Everyone - Robin and I are wannabe's. Right now we are living in Florida doing our research. I came across this site yesterday and I couldn't wait to show Robin. RV-Dreams.com is the most helpful, informative site I have seen. We have been reading every category and trying to take it all in. We enjoy r...
I remember all of the horror stories about a US citizen driving class 8 truck in Mexico. Has anything changed in the last few years or are you still at risk taking your big rig 5er to Mexico?
My husband and I are in our mid-40's, I have tent camped most of my life (being the mom of an Eagle scout ). My husband only started camping while we were dating. We have made the decision that we would like to camp year round (yes, in the snow!) and are looking to by our first RV travel trailer. We are av...
We are starting our search for a new "small" Class A Diesel Pusher. I ordered the RV Consumer Group ratings guide because I really can't find very much objective rating material. One of his key rating criteria is highway controls and he uses wheelbase length against the full length. Using this cri...
We picked up our Montana 3820FK about a week and a half ago & have had nothing but MAJOR problems with it. (i.e. refrigerator, a/c, furnace, water explosions & flooding.) Closest dealer refuses to repair. Have contacted corporate service. CEO or President is next on my list, unless someone...

Does anyone like Keystone Montana? We just bought a 2007 34 RL. It is immaculate on the inside but the outside decals are gone on one side. what size truck would pull it without a problem?
We are on our way to help the disaster recovery efforts in Ellicott City, MD. I know it is a long shot, but does anyone have a hook-up we can use that is within 30 miles of Ellicott City? We have searched the normal campgrounds and boon dockers site. Thanks.
Full time for just over 3 years now, loving the life despite the mechanical issues, being told to evacuate due to flooding, changes in plans due to family issues, restricting our travel a bit due to my virtual job situation that required a bit more time in the office, etc. This year, ironically on the 3r...
I'm a seasoned camper and a moderately experienced RV'er. I had a small trailer for about 3 years, sold it and am now looking to buy a small motor home next spring/summer. I have recently retired and plan to live in my RV about 6 months a year. I'm knee deep in research...how much boondocking? solar pa...
Thanks for the push in Chattanooga. We close on our house next Tuesday, and we are already in our 30' KZ fifth wheel. We intend to upgrade it after the house closes. We are still wading through Internet and satellite options. We have had Direct for a long time, so we lean that way. I would certainly like t...
In October 2014 we took advantage of the Verizon "Double Your Data" plan at a Verizon store in Elkhart IN. We were happy with our 40GB per month plan, but when the "New Verizon Plan" came out last month we were interested in the new features of Canada/Mexico service and roll over. I figured we would be p...
Well after 2 1/2 years planning, I leave for Clearwater Fla. to attend a RV Tech School for 10wks. My last day at a real job is Sept 2 Giving myself plenty of time to get there, I really don't want another ordeal like we had going to the rally in May. Cheri will fly later in the month to Tampa to join me. We have...
Please remember also to use your 4-way flashers when descending a long grade if under 45mph, to let drivers behind you aware of your speed. You can even put them on at any speed, don't get PUSHED from behind. I believe it is a law in most States to use your 4-ways. Safe travels. The old post is closed, s...
Two weeks ago we spent 4 nights at Persimmon Hill COE park on Enid Lake, Mississippi. It is a beautiful park with large spots with concrete pad, water, 50 amp electric and they were installing sewer while we were there. Using our America the Beautiful senior pass the cost was $36 for 4 night no tax...
We installed a hard wired version of the progressive industries 50 amp surge protector and bought a set of Honda 2000's and connected them up and received a code E-2 which is an open ground. Called progressive and they explained the issue. Also directed me to a video clip. So we now have to purchase th...
Buying new 25 ft Airstream (5800 lbs dry, 7300 loaded). Tow vehicle 2015 Tahoe with HD trailering, brake controller and 5.2 Vortec. Dealer sells Reese and Equilizer WD hitches and sway bars. I've heard Hensley is best (certainly more $$$). I want best safety and simple operation. Any advice? Also,...
