Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I'm a long time RV camper having started out with a 19' Terry Taurus in 1978. My wife, two sons, and I traveled in that rig towed by my parent's 1978 Chevy pickup from our home in Pennsylvania until we bought a used International Travelall in 1980. We traveled the Rockies about every year for 10 years until the boys were ready for college in everything for the 19' TT through a 24' TT to a 28' Class A motorhome. We must have impressed them with something, since they both went to my college, the University of Wyoming. They still live in the Rockies and I live in Maryland.
I've been widowed for 2 years plus now having spent 47 years married to my best friend. I, and a number of my friends, am wondering why I'm still so far away from my kids. Truth: I just inherited an overwhelming amount of stuff. Some is valuable and some not so much. I'm in the process of readying the house and its contents for sale. The boys now have everything they want from here, so the selling process should move right along, now that I've started.
I'm thinking, after considering everything from a truck camper to an overland motorhome to a Class A, that a less than 28' fifth wheel will be the best fit. It will just fit into most NP, BLM, and USFS campgrounds while giving enough room for me to live comfortably. Also, It will fit into my sons' driveways!
I've traveled all of the lower 48 plus every continent except Australia, so I'll be rambling, remembering, revisiting, and loving every minute of my now solo life on the road.

Good for you Bill. Nothing worth having in life ever comes into being without some effort and plays on our emotions, but it will all be worth it when you hit the road and start your travels. Sounds like you have a lot of revisiting, reminiscing and opportunities ahead of you to create many wonderful future memories as well.
Take a deep breath and pace yourself, but take action to continually do a little at a time, don't forget to keep smelling the roses in life enroute to this new phase, and don't stress. Ironically it all falls into place over time.
So excited for you and we should be not far behind you now. Time has flown by for us.
