Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We have been researching windows as part of our decision-making process for RVs. Peggy has been interested in dual pane windows. We went to the RV show in Portland, OR this month and were told that dual pane windows were a waste of money because (a) they only add an R factor of 1 and (b) the vibration assoc...
We have ordered a New Horizons with 630 watts of solar power installed with the plan to do some boondocking. It will have the Big Foot Levelers and from our experience with them on our Carriage Cameo, we know they require a fully charged battery to operate. Has anyone had experience with big foot, sol...
So while we are currently sitting here is warm Southwest FL we are giving thoughts as to where we might spend some time next winter. A couple of the other camp hosts here have started talking about the possibility of going to Mexico. This idea has some appeal to us and we have just started to do some resear...
Made a quick trip to Chatanooga on Sunday with some friends to see the show and check in on Howard and Linda who were giving seminars. Even though we have been full-time for 18 months, attended seminars, and check in on the forums, we still learn stuff when Howard and Linda interact with the audience. ...
We just posted our annual yearly analysis to our blog for our 4th year of being fulltime in case anyone is interested. We share thoughts and some costs. https://daveanddiane.wordpress.com/

I need property to park my home on when not here in Florida or out in Colorado. I am looking for a nice wooded piece of property in eastern Tennessee along the I75 corridor. I am searching roughly around the area squared by; Rocky Top (Oak Ridge) to Townsend (Maryville) to Conasauga (Cleveland) to So...
We are hobos2. our names are Steve and Michele (better know as mickie). We play a bit of music under the name Bijou JuJu. Mickie recently retired. We sold our home and bought a 24' motorhome. It's old, but well maintained. Our home base is now in Michigan where our daughter is building us an apartment to u...
I've always just used my laptop in screensaver mode to display photos, but it's starting to be an issue with overheating. Does anyone have a photo frame they recommend for road use, as in durable, etc? Do you mount it on a wall, or stow it while traveling? I know in the past they were plasma screens and...
I will be new to full-time RVing in about a month and am wondering if anyone here lives in the Nor Cal Redwoods. I am completely clueless when it comes to RV 101 and will need a major crash course in RV living!
Hi, we thought we would share with the group since many of you have Norcold refrigerators. After a leak (ammonia) and near fire a few weeks ago, we replaced our our failed OEM cooling unit for a brand new Amish built unit. Check out our first YouTube video if you're interested: Our Norcold to Amish Built...
Hi Everyone, Divorce and the need to save money has me taking the leap into full time rving. I am in the process of purchasing a Stellar Eclipse (Toy Hauler) for these purposes. I chose a toy hauler as I am an avid health nut and it allowed me to get a gym quality recumbent bike in the garage area with plent...
Hi guys, we are new to RVing but are very enthusiastic. We are looking to buy our first RV and live in it full time. We heard people refer to it as “Full timing.” We’re hoping to get some tips from all the experienced folks out here and recommendations on selecting our first RV. At the moment, we don’t have a...
Anybody been over Spooner Pass from Carson City over towards Tahoe? I'm not worried about the grade with the 5500HD but according to my Mountain Directory West Guide there's a short tunnel 6 miles down from the summit which is marked 12'4" on the inside and 18'6" on the centerline. As we're 13'6" tall w...
Come visit ajhomeontheroam.com My wife Angela and I have been full-time in our fifth wheel since 2014. I have a section called "Camp Sights" where I provide a review of RV Parks wherever we travel. Hi all, Has anyone tried an alternative to string for re-stringing day/night shades? May sound stupid but, things like fishing line, picture hanging wire, etc. I'm just so tied of re-stringing blinds and I don't want to switch to a different type because I like the day/night usefulness. Gary
Leaving Michigan in February heading to Florida panhandle (Destin.) Any reccomendations for easy and open in the winter overnights on the way? We only travel about 250 miles per day.
Is there anyone who has purchased their rv at a show who would be willing to share that experience? Did you feel pressured? Did you really get a "show price"? Or is it all just a sales technique? We'll be attending this year and pretty much know what we're looking for and could buy if something "jumps out a...
I've heard of all kinds of problems with using bio-diesel over B5 in newer Diesel engineS. My warranty states that it does not cover damage caused by bio-diesel over 5%. With many states now giving tax breaks to producers for blending higher percentage product it is getting more difficult to find Pet...
We were contacted by another member of the RV-Dreams family about meeting up at the Ballon Festival. Since we have never been to it before and being on the lazy side I looked up and old post and tried to get some suggestions from others who have attended the event. now I see that it has been closed, I don't g...
We just traded in our 2012 Montana for a 2017 Vilano 365RL. Went with friends to an RV show in Pleasanton, CA, and just couldn't walk away from the deal. We absolutely love the quality, looks, and features, not to mention the Tiffin backing. Will take delivery within a month or so depending on build vs. i...
I have the Winegard Trav'ler automatic Sat Dish. My question is about the inside control panel ... the one that has the on/off button and displays the satellites that are acquired. In the past, it has always remained powered on with it's blue backlight always on. I've been in place now about two mon...
Good Moring all! Like the hosts, the wife and I are Kentucky folks! We just inked the paperwork for our first RV, a cougar xlite 28RKS. We aren't necessarily new to camping as we have rented a few times and have friends with a camper, but its the beginning of the next chapter in our lives as we now have the fr...
I've been notified that my corporate work from home job is going away in just over a month. Still adjusting to that shocking news, but looking at options and trying to decide if I want to continue to pursue a corporate job that is virtual or if it's time to drop out of the corporate rat race. Not totally...
Refreshing this post for the summer crowd since the original post in January. Monaco Safari Cheetah 38' w/4 slides. Model 38PDQ with 350 HP C7 Caterpillar diesel engine. This Cheetah has the optional aluminum wheels, deluxe suspension system, 3M film mask, power chrome mirrors, full length mud f...
The wife and I have just inked a deal on a new Cougar Xlite 28RKS. The dealer is making a couple of additions we wanted so I'm figuring out which hitch I want to use, reading here on the forum folks likes and dislikes etc. The thing I'm running into is finding a real number for the height of the pin box so I can b...
Can anyone tell me if the Lifestyle Luxury RV company went out of business? I did see that two places each had one 2017 model. And I thought I may have read something about no longer in business. We are looking to buy another 5th wheel and I was impressed with the looks of it but know nothing about them. ...
I, like many others, have experienced the so called "Lippert Pop" in our hydraulic leveling systems. Today I used an old school carpenters level to manually level my 41 foot, 5 slide, 5th wheel. After manually leveling it, I reset the zero level setting on the "Level Up" auto leveling system. Inte...
