Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I've been in and out usually talking about solar or boondocking which is what I have been readying the rig for. It has always been a dream to go on the road but this year it went from someday to 1/1/17. It has been a awsome Indian summer here and I have been packing and finishing up the trailer during the day a...
Hi everyone - it has been awhile! In the last 16 months since finding this site, we have completely changed our worldview, sold our home, bought a new 5th wheel and truck, and are now preparing for life on the road by this fall. We can hardly contain ourselves! However, while we have RV'd for over 25 year...
Thought I would ask where everyone will be Wintering this year? We began our slow trek South at the beginning of September from Washington state. The highways are full of RV's and it seems like there are more than ever. It's interesting to see the combinations going down the road. Our route has incl...
Just wondering if there are anymore fuel discount cards available other than the Pilot RV card. Really like the Pilot card and the ease of not dealing with the cramp space of regular pumps. Talked to a Love's Corporate Personel and asked them to look at the Pilot plan to see if they could setup a card f...
I've been a member for awhile, but haven't posted until now. My wife Kathy and I are "longtimers" that spend upwards of 10-11 months a year living in our motorhome. We also have a small year-round lakeside cabin in Upstate NY that we visit from time to time. We travel mostly when and where our whims dicta...
My name is Bruce Matthews and at 67 I am preparing to hit the road once again. Traveled most my life from early age of 16 and continue on up to present age. Hitchhiked to Florida and picked oranges in 1970's 1. rode bicycle from Conn. to Ohio 2. Hopped freight train to parts unknown ending up in Sparks, Nev...
Just wondering if any here on the forum are going to be in Albuquerque for the balloon fiesta as it starts this wkend. Oct. 5th thru Oct.14. We are not camped at the fiesta field but camped about 1/2 hr away and will be going to it. If you have never seen it it is great!!! The most photographed event in the wor...
I'm still in long-term planning mode, but I know I'll want a toy hauler for my RV home. I've liked the Heartland Cyclone, but I recently was made aware of Weekend Warrior. They sell directly from the factory and you can order with just the features you want, though I'll probably look for something use...
We are going to look at a 2010 DRV MS 36-tksb with a loaded weight of 17,000 (empty around 13,400). Wondering what the pros and cons are to a one-ton diesel single rear wheel - as opposed to a dually. We already know that IDEALLY we would buy a dually, but what we want to know is if anyone is pulling anything s...
After three years of owning this coach we've come to the realization that we didn't buy our last coach first. Our needs have changed since we did our research, and a motor home isn't the best choice for us. Therefore, we're putting our coach up for sale. The residential refrigerator was new shortly aft...
I've had a great run with the Michelin XTAs on my Mobile Suites. Five years and they still have lots of tread. But, alas, I want to replace before heading to Alaska in 2017. They are 215/75R/17.5 and I am looking at replacing with the Sailun 235/75R/17.5. Those Sailun's get good reviews, have a load capa...
Hello Friends, We are looking to get back into some gate guarding. We applied to SiteWatch and met with Todd down in Kenedy, TX. On the day we were to pull out from home (Back in early Nov.) here and head down to setup they told us not to come due to Marathon shutting down all gate jobs until after first of t...

Fairly new to Rv'ing (less than a year) we've been on enough trips to know we love it. We love exploring together and don't mind the small footprint. (31' Class C.) We fully expect to upgrade at some point, maybe to an A. We're getting ready to retire next month and planning to do alot of traveling. Howeve...
We are not new to the Full Timer way of life, but we recently purchased a 40' Monaco with three slides. Talk about moving on up, not to mention the comfort we have gained. We travel with 2 small dogs, 1 large cat, 2 birds and Bob, the Beta. Our life is a good one, and we are enjoying the freedom we have to go w...
Always had an air filter on our S&B Heaters and AC units. My 5er has a return air grate in the back of the pantry which is where the furnace draws it's "heating air" (the air for combustion is drawn from outside the rig). This recirculation of air serves the purpose of heating the basement also. Th...
I have a 2016 Fuzion 416 w/ a 16' garage and a pull down screen at the back patio/ramp. I want to be able to leave the back patio open all the time so I'm looking at 2 options:build the wall/door myself out of wood frames & plexiglass - estimated cost ~$1,000buy an Acrylic window by Custom Windows 4 tra...
Here is our two year budget analysis complete with charts and graphs if you are a data geek! Please keep in mind that although these costs are on the high side we made a trip to Alaska and wee enough to cover them and did not dip into our savings at all. Even in this lifestyle it's pretty easy to spend what yo...
We are considering driving our MH from San Antonio, TX to Seattle, WA in order to jump on a cruise ship for a week. My concern is the route I should take from here to there in July of 2017. Southern route via AZ-CA-OR-WA or northern route up to Kansas? and then cut west. My concern is whether or not my MH can h...
As many of you know we have been trying a variety of jobs and just finished a stint at a Christmas Tree lot. In particular we feel this job would vary significantly based on who you worked for and how busy the season was, but I still thought there would be value in sharing our experience here. Your mileage...
For those with larger (40+ feet) 5ers or MHs, can you comment on how much these larger sized rigs have impacted your ability to find suitable CGs or parking locations. Has the length caused you to have any misgivings? What compensations have you had to make due to having such a long "rolling palace" in o...
On our way to Quartzsite and are currently Wallydocking in Anderson, CA. Just wanted to wish everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR and best wishes and safe travels in 2017! 🍾🍸🍷
I am a soon-to-be travel trailer owner and need information on how to locate a reputable inspector. When I do a search for RV inspectors, I typically get people who work for dealers, which is OK I guess, but will they tend to redirect me to a unit on their lot??? I will most likely be purchasing a smaller...
Ready (we hope) to realize our dream of the full-time lifestyle in the next 10-34 months, we are officially the Graduating Class of 2015! We are different ages, live in different parts of the country(s), come from different backgrounds, have different or no rigs, are single or a couple, have differ...
We had a power event a couple of weeks ago after moving from the Keys to an Rv park. When we arrived at Whisper Creek Resort we plugged in and set up like we always do. We use a TRC 50 amp surgeguard and it went through its tests before delivering power to the rig. I went in and turned on air, fridge and went ba...
We love our Splendide, use it all the time, but recently we noticed that the heat was cutting off on the drying cycle. Lee pulled out the machine and when he disconnected the hose out I am sorry to say it was more than 3/4 full of lint. Apparently our dryer hose has to make two 90 degreed turns to reach the o...
I understand why but must point out it is very easy to post on an old topic on this forum. A single page can contain a whole year worth of post. Who reads the date. Not needed on most forums. Most forum you can go several pages on the same year posts. jfyi -- Edited by Glenn West on Wednesday 6th of July 2016 08:...
