Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello all! A lot of you already know us, Bill and Kelly, but for those who don't - we have been members of this forum since June 2013, and we've been full-time (largely due to Howard & Linda's awesome blog and forum) since Aug 2014. We've attended 3 RV Dreams Rallies, Spring 2014 in TN, Winter 2015 Bo...
Panels with photovoltaic cells (PV) absorb sunlight and convert it to direct current (DC) electricity. Have anyone installed such panels for their roof? How was the experience? Are you pleased with such an alternative electricity? How much did you save money?
OK, who's been there? We're visiting in the summer and wanted to check and get info to optimize the visit. -should we do both upper and lower canyons? If only one…which is the better tour? -Any highly recommended (or highly not-recommended) tour companies…I see there are a couple of possibilities? -...
We have camped for about 20 years with a small travel trailer. When we stay at state parks - we fill up our water tank and when it is empty we add water from a five gallon portable container. Now that we have a large 5th wheel, we know we can purchase a water bladder and a pump to refill the fresh water...
Hello! My husband and I are considering going full time rving. We love to travel as do our children. However, our situation gets a little complicated because we have 10 children plus our pets. I've found a fifth wheel that would fit our family (with a few modifications) so I'm basically researchi...
We are new to RVing. Our first thought was that we could just rent a car wherever we go. BUT on our first real trip last year we got about 900 miles from home and I had to have emergency surgery for a detached retina. We had to stay at the campground for 2 weeks while I healed up. Trips to the hospital in a cab...
so my husband and I are looking to start rving full time next year (we want to wait until our youngest two children are 2 yrs old). We have a number of pets currently. Australian shepherd who is 5 years old. She was hit by a car a few years ago and while we saved her leg, she doesn't run like she used to and is c...
Well, we did it. We sold everything (except the essentials) in November and moved into our 36' Jayco. We ordered a Luxe 42MD and expect it in the next few months. Barry retires in 5 or so years so we will be immobile most of the time. I guess that makes us semi-parttime, I'm not sure? We live in Texas and when...
I have RV trader send me an e-mail when a listing fitting our general criteria is added. DP, 38 to 40 ft, Newmar, or similar. $50 to 75K, Most coaches I see (on line Photos) are 2002 to 2004, or older All are OK, but I got a bit more interested in the 2005 Fourwinds available at Karolina Koaches for 59,888 O...
For 28 years my husband, Frank, and I, Lee Ann, have dreamed of retiring to fulltime rving. Our dream comes true this Summer. We've ordered our first rv, Augusta Ambition, which should start production in a couple of months. We are looking for a new F350 Lariat diesel dually for towing the 5th wheel...
Hello guys, I have always wanted to own an RV for my family's camping, but I haven't been able to purchase one because of some financial challenges. The good news is that I have already taken care of the issues that were holding me back and now I'm ready to get the vehicle. Unfortunately, I don't have any i...
New to this site. We have had a class A for almost a year. First coach was a Thor VEGAS which we named "Elvis". Elvis was a bit too small so we were able to upgrade to a Thor Windsport, which we aptly named Mariah (the wind they call Mariah). Retired and now based in Florida, we plan to use the coach to see a b...
I'm a full time RVer looking to trade in my old fifth wheel. Ive been looking at this preowned 2011 Landmark Augusta by Heartland but, I don't know anything about this type of trailer. Is it a good model? Does it hold up well for full time Rving? What is the quality of this specific trailer? If it's not rec...
We were forced to buy a new hitch recently (long story short... traded trucks over a weekend and had to have a new hitch to fit the Ford factory puck system before we pulled out on Sunday). This is the rail-mount (model 3200) version and comes with the hitch, the pin adapter that goes on the king pin, safet...

I wanted to take out the extra chair from my Class A to make room for a dog crate, what a pain! I thought I could just use a socket wrench, but no, no, they put locking nuts on there! I had to take it into a shop, and it took 2 guys with pneumatic tools to get it out! The one piece of furniture you might want to get ri...
It has been a crazy couple weeks. My head is spinning and everything is kind of unexpectedly happening a lot faster than we anticipated. My wife and I started researching Full Time RVing in June (2016) last year and would like to be on the road April 2018. We signed up to attend the Education Rally in T...

Looking for opinions for which sealant to use for RV outdoor light replacement & cargo door/frame replacement. Silicone, caulk, rubber, plastic? Which brands have proven best? Thanks in advance.
Looking for a job that allows you to travel? Pays a wage, pays for your campground, and pays mileage (1.5x when towing)? It would be working to inspect for gas leaks. If interested, please PM me and I'll give you the details.
We're wanting to have a solar system and lithium battery upgrade installed on our Allegro Bus. I've been comparing AM Solar in Eugene Oregon with Starlight Solar in Yuma, mostly off their websites. AM Solar is closer to me in Oregon, but Starlight's prices at least on the lithium batteries seem...
Well, I guess there is nothing like the real thing when it comes to living in the trailer. Even though we researched for years and thought we had planned things pretty good, we are now realizing some of the things we didn't even know to ask about! So, we get this new Arctic Fox and we get a 300 AMP ZAMP Solar...
I have a 28 foot Sunnybrook Solanta with a relatively sophisticated Victron battery power monitor. A good part of my camping is boondocking, often in forest service campgrounds. I have two 6V golf cart batteries, roughly 200 Amp-hour capacity. I carry a small Honda generator, primarily to cha...
We drink a lot of water. Last time we were living in the TT we bought 5 good gallon jugs and would fill them once a week at the water dispenser thingy. We used them for coffee and to just drink. We know we can do this again, but was wondering are there water filters you can buy for under the sink like in a house? I...

I was looking for an app which shows all things we RV campers need, especially propane filling stations. The apps I use don't list propane stations. I found this app "Camper's Helper - Campgrounds" which supposedly does if you upgrade for $10. Would like to know if anyone uses this app or if they know of...
I am looking to purchase a toy hauler to live in full time (my two teen daughters will be with me in it 1/2 time). Right now I am looking at the following: Heartland Torque 398 Forest River Vengeance 377V Stellar Eclipse 40TXSG Every model has really good and really horrible reviews. The guy selling t...
. . . That we can hardly wait to put behind us next winter! It was -30C last night (-22F) and -42C (-43.6F) with the windchill. The wind is 30km gusting to 60 km, with snow and blowing snow. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny but the high is only -28C (-18.4F) with a windchill of -43C (-45.4F). Yes, that's the...
