Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Good Moring all! Like the hosts, the wife and I are Kentucky folks! We just inked the paperwork for our first RV, a cougar xlite 28RKS. We aren't necessarily new to camping as we have rented a few times and have friends with a camper, but its the beginning of the next chapter in our lives as we now have the freedom and means to go anywhere. We both have had the travel gene in our DNA, me having done 4 years in the US Navy back in the late 80s stationed on an aircraft carrier, and the wife travelled when young with the family for job assignments. I also have done several long distance motorcycle trips around the country (Im a BMW rider) but those trips are pretty hardcore, pounding out the miles day after day, so they end up being "guy" trips. Now I look forward to being able to share with my wife some of those places I saw along the way and even enjoy them a little more myself! I'm looking forward to reading about your experiences out there, for your advise and ideas. We are truly now happy campers.
Welcome, K! Since you have decided to slow down a little, consider the 230 rule...drive 230 miles max and stop or drive until 2:30 and stop.

Thank you gents for the advise, I can see a ton of wisdom in it. Very unlike my old motorcycle trips where its was 500-600 miles a day come hell or high water (and some days there were both), this life style will be a bit more conservative.
Well I too will be on the road this spring as a newbie! I have a 30 foot ultralight bumper pull...trying to learn as much as I can before hitting the highway! Looking forward to meeting kindred spirits and making new friends. I just found this forum/site and hope to learn from bloggers about living and surviving in an RV:)
