Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

What Emergency Road Service has been best for you?


Breakdowns and flat tires can happen while on the road.  What Emergency Road Service do you have, what has been your experience with it and would you renew your contract with that service or choose another?

We have Good Sams ERS basic.  Basically it is about a $100 a year but the value is in the tow service to the nearest "qualified" repair location.  Many people report the tow bill accross a long stretch that would cover anywhere from 5 to 10 years of premiums for one tow.  They have a good reputation and we consider it as good insurance.  Peace of mind is priceless.

We have been happy with Coachnet, which is now endorsed by Escapees.  Twice they have towed us and they paid the towing bill both times.   The first tow was to get us out of mud, the second was a 50 mile one to a repair place.  Another time they tracked a locksmith down for us when our main lock broke, that took a lot longer but they came through.  For the locksmith they paid for the trip to us, we paid for the rest.

We have been most happy with the Good Sam ERS also. We renew each year at the Tampa RV show. We save a minimum of $10.00 at the show. However, since we are on the road now, that might be a little more difficult, but we plan to be in Tampa at that time.

We use Good SAM ERS.  My wife convinced me to get it before our fist RV trip.  I thought it would be a waste of money but bought the policy for her peace of mind. 


 On our 3rd trip we had a blowout and the service had us back on the road in about 1-hour.  3 hours after the tire repair we broke down again (same trip) and Good Sam ERS came to the rescue again this time with a tow truck.  Needless to say our weekend was not that enjoyable but the savings from Good Sam ERS was well over $500. 


I called the owners of both the repair station and tow service that were sent to our breakdowns...both could not be happier in dealing with Good Sam ERS and both we more than helpful to us. We will not go anywhere with out that coverage now!!!!

Hi to all,  we have Good Sams ERS and have use it, they were very professional.   We also have Coachnet but haven't use it yet.  We got coachnet thru SKP's, remains to be seen how it works.  But be sure you have a ERS before Rving.  It will save you money, just use it one time and it's paid for it.  Good Luck on your choice...GBY....

Coach-Net has done a great job for us.  We also had to be towed twice and both times they came up with qualified tow truck operators and Coach-Net picked up the tab.  They also found the appropriate service needed both times.  They are very easy to do business with and we plan on continuing with them in the future.

Like Delaine and Lindy we have both Good Sam ERS (4 years) and Coachnet (just this year). We have been very happy with Good Sam but wanted to try Coachnet because they advertise you can talk to a technician to help you out and often that would be helpful.


Luckily we have never been towed. But we had air bag problems 3 times, a flat tire while parked, the compressor for the Brakemaster failed. the battery died and in all cases Good Sam connected us with an onsite service person. With the air bag problem the third guy was a truck repair and he found a screw that kept rubbing the bag and finally causing a leak.


We've tried Coachnet once and they could not find a service man or provide tech help; Good Sam did.


One thing we like about Good Sam is their response time, generally we have had someone onsite within an hour. They have an automated system that calls you and tells you how long before the service person will arrive. They pay for the service call...you pay parts and labor. But they FIND someone and get you on the road again :

We also have been very happy with CoachNet.


A caution for those fans of registering your RV in the name of a Limited Liability Company (LLC).  Good Sam will NOT cover a rig if it is registered under an LLC, but you don't necessarily know that until AFTER you sign up and receive your manual.  I don't like the LLCs anyway, but this is something to be aware of and I just learned it myself this week from another forum.

Well I am sure this is a matter of opinion as many things about RVing are but, what type of rig and what size the rig is can make a difference. We drive a 40ft diesel pusher and a pickup truck with a wrecker bed won't cut it. That has been tried on our unit by some less than qualified towers. For that reason we use the Family Motor Coach Association,s road service. They specialize in motor coaches and don't send a pickup to do a trucks job. The cost is par for this type of service at just under $100 per year.
