Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Well, some of you may know me from the SKP forum or some of the others popular ones. I did a lot of posting a year ago as I pursued the road to full-timing. Things didn't work out, but now I am back trying again. I'll be a solo RVer, one who hasn't driven anything larger than an F-150 crew cab. LOL! So I hope to go...
I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on whether I can tow my '97 Suzuki Sidekick 4WD with auto transmission? I see Suzukis mentioned as toads in another thread, within the limitation of 55 mph. Does mine fit in that category, given it's an automatic? It is a great little vehicle and I would hate to pa...
I have been looking on the internet for months now for a new 5er. As some of you know we have decided to buy a new 2006 Doubletree Elite Suites. I have been looking at weights and insulation R factors. Here is what I have come up with, W=wall, R=roof, F= floor. Doubletree W-13, R-23, F-27 Excel W-...
Howard, I see you guys enjoy some pretty extensive hiking. What type of shoes/boots do you have and would you recommend them to others, or would you choose a different type/brand? BTW, your hiking pix are breathtaking! Thanks for sharing! Best Regards!
Does anyone have experience/knowledge about the Montana LLC for acquiring an RV without paying sales tax? We live in Surprise AZ where the tax is 6.1% and I sure would like to use that money for rig upgrades/options. Are there any problems that I should be aware of? Thanks, BOBREED -- Edited by BOBREED...
I have learned so much on this forum, I wanted to share some cost saving info with you regarding phone costs. Skype is a VOIP (voice over internet protocol); you basically only need an internet connection to access it. The software is free, just download it. Your only cost will be a pair of headphone...
Happy 4th of July everyone! Have a Newmar question I hope someone can help me with. What's the difference between the Dutch Star and the Kountry Star? It's probably a Chevy vs Pontiac question but I'm unable to find an answer. I'm looking at Newmar MH's (used) and keep running into this question. ...
No, it's not the name of the next reality RV TV show! But knowing that our intrepid duo gets lots of ideas about where to go and what to do thought it might be fun to post them here. Then they can review them if they want and make decisions based on their tastes. My ulterior motive, we all get the benefit of the...
We plan to camp in the Asheville, NC area in mid-October. Could anyone recommend a campground? We have a 35ft Excel with Fl-60 Freightliner so would need some room to get in. Thanks. Allan and Jeanne
Hi! I am the DW of Fox, one of Howard and Linda's biggest fans. We are wannbes, scheduled for a Sept 2009 departure of the "working" world to travel and relaxation. We have spent the past 10 months getting rid of "our stuff" in preparation for our big life change. Very fortunately...
I'm an almost 60 y/o lady with some arthritis and no upper body strength. I plan on getting a toy hauler for my motorcycle. I've found that the bumper pull trailers are much less expensive (something I have to consider) but wondering about the ease of hookups, leveling, backing up, etc. since I have no p...
Wanted to introduce myself. I'm Skipper (Linda) in Jacksonville, Florida. I am a motorcyclist who has converted a motorcyle trailer into a camping trailer. I'm here to learn a little about people and places. Hopefully in the next few years I'll retire and be able to do a lot of travelling.
Since we will be working on our property in S. TX next winter, we would like to find a "lot sitter" for our property at North Ranch Escapee Park next Fall & winter....... Its a nice lot with full hookups of course and backs up to the BLM property. Beautiful view of Vulture peak out the back...
Hi Everyone! We are so happy to have been directed to this site from a very nice friend and member here! We have been camping for 10+ years vacations and weekend camping. We hope to full-time someday soon. We are excited to start looking around the forum. Thank you for having us!
Hello everyone. My husband and I have been following Howard and Linda's site for almost two years now. Now is the time to introduce ourselves. My DH, John, and I will be retiring at the end of the year. The house will soon thereafter go up for sale. Howard and Linda have shown us that our dream is not...
I am not the kind of person that can wait to take delivery of our new Elite Suites. It's only been 9 days and I'm going crazy waiting. Dealer had to order some options for us for his rig on the lot. Washer, dryer, window awnings, etc. As far as the people that order from the factory, how can they wait 8 weeks fo...
I don't know if this is the right place to post this topic, but anyway, Being that a lot of RVers use portable heaters, I thought that everyone should know that there is a recall on Lasko Ceramic heaters. They evidently can be a fire hazard. I just learned about this today, and you can check out the recall...
Hello folks, I'll be joining the fulltiming ranks this October as a solo. I am retiring at 55. The house will be on the market in two weeks. The 5th wheel is on order. I've been a long time lurker and really enjoy the Payne's site. The info found here has been invaluable to me. Steve Cox
Hello everyone! I've been fulltiming since 2006 and retired this year. I'm doing it solo and I've been surely enjoying myself as I've been traveling around. Hope to meet up with some of you one day. I'm headed to Arizona right now. I've made it as far as Oklahoma and will be here until after the hol...
We have a 36' Cedar Creek Fifth wheel. 50 amp service. Has one A/c unit, micro, electric fireplace, computer station, overhead fan, etc etc. all the usual stuff. We are looking to install an onboard generator. Unit is set up to accomodate. Question - from your experience what size, brand et...
Does anyone have any ideas for ways to protect the walls around the stove from spattering grease? Several reps I've asked have suggested mounting plexiglass over the wallpaper, however in a previous rig we tried standing plexiglass along the side wall and it melted! It would be...
Barb and I have been thinking seriously about a new 5er (Mobile Suites), BUT, we just heard from a friend who has a 1996 Holiday Rambler Imperial for sale. I'm giong to scout it out tomorrow but knowing these people, I know the unit will be emaculate. Here is the listing info: 1996 Holiday Rambler Imp...
Howard, After reading your June 26th and 27th Journals this morning, I felt I needed to make a comment. First of all, feelings about a place, RV park, person, or situation are part of what makes every one of us different, and we really can't control them. We all have feelings about all of the above, wheth...
As some of you know we fulltime spending June, July, and August at Lake Tahoe. Yesterday we had enough of fire and smoke and moved down off the mountain to Carson City. You can check our Blog for our perspective on the Angora Fire.

A couple years ago I succumbed to marketing pressures and bought my DW a new slow cooker. That was mistake #1. Mistake #2 was selling the old crock potcooker that worked very, very well. Mistake #3 was replacing the second (read lousy) slow cooker with a high tech looking unit from Cuisinart that imm...
