Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
So, how many of us solos do much cooking? Living at home and working I find it easier to NOT cook. Breakfast is cereal and fruit or yogurt (with an occasional bagel as a treat). Lunch is often the pre-packaged chicken salad on crackers or else yogurt (if I didn't have it for breakfast). Fruit or bran snack...
We have been looking at Winne Vectra TD's , and still love them, but we are still at the searching stage, and have now gotten really interested in the Monaco/Holiday Rambler/ Endeavor 40 foot sft with the full wall drivers side slide. We've now looked at 3 and we are really into it. Lot's of...
Hi everyone! I've been meaning to do this for a long time, so here goes. I'm gonna ask you to do a little w-o-r-k. You have all been so kind to us and have said many wonderful things about RV-Dreams.com, the related websites, and us personally. Unfortunately, I haven't saved all those great comments...
Hi We have our home for sale, three months now no bites.. we have been looking at 5th wheelers which would be our choice for fulltiming.. Most people say get a used 1 or 2 year old because of the depreciation and all the bugs have been tested.. give me your thoughts..
I guess it's about time to overcome my fear of posting and say hello to you all. I've been following Howard and Linda's adventures from the beginning after seeing the article in the Louisville newspaper. This sight is addictive and my morning is not complete without reading the latest journal entr...
Hi to everyone! My husband (John) and I live in Wisconsin; and we are planning on full-timing in 2.5 - 3.0 years (hopefully sooner than later). We already have our retirement home on wheels; and are enjoying it as often as we can. We are already making any necessary modifications so we will be all set...
This question maybe for others as well as myself If you are in a site and another fellow rv'er comes in and has a "Big Dish" datastorm 3 (at least I think thats what it is) and your pc brings it in as another wi-fi network available do you ever use your fellow rv'ers. We are dumb when it comes to te...
I will need a vet for my dog and a dentist for myself next week while we're in Arlington Texas. How would you go about researching to find the best providers? I usually look in the yello pages on Yahoo and find the closest, but that isn't always the best. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks! Ellie
Hi fellow Soloist,
I thought that another area that might have special concerns/problems for us solo RVers is the different ways we prepare for the contingency of something happening to us on the road. Who is there to check up on us and if incapacitated, how to we relate contact information to those...
We left Florence Oregon on April 17th and arrived in Farmington New York on the 24th. I have never seen so many wasps and hornets. Any recommendations on how to get rid of these pests.
Hi, We're Jim and Linda. We've been RVing for about 20 years and Full-timing for 6. We're originally from the Midwest, but now we're from wherever the road takes us. I've been doing some "lurking" on this site for awhile and it looks like there are a lot of friendly people here. Also, I'm h...
We would like to vist these areas in late October/First of November. Can anyone give advise on what the weather will be like? Is it too late in the year? Thanks for any help.

Has anyone who has a central air conditioning unit ever attempted to recharge a compressor on your own or do you recommend that only a qualified service tech. do it. I have two compressors on mine and the first one doesn't blow cold so the second one is always kicking right in,so it doesn't keep up. Even...
I'm curious about ya'lls shopping habits. we use a lot of fresh foods so I shop often during the month. I keep a running list and just pick up what I need. Linda currently at Rainbows End, Livingston, Texas
I'm listing my Son's 5th wheel for him. He bought it new 2 years ago and has used it maybe 2-3 times. He and Ann are just too busy with work and keeping up their place. I keep telling him he HAS to read Howard & Linda's Forum. He is 46 years old and doesn't have any children. Her it is: document.write('<...

I'm researching RV freezers, the kind you can put in a basement storage compartment. Seems they are pretty pricey! What would be your recommendation? Also, are they dual voltage, 12V or 120V? Thanks and Best Regards! -- Edited by Old Snipe at 16:49, 2007-05-08
Well we finally did it … He put money down on a Mobile Suites 36RS3 and on a 2003 Volvo 630 and then put the house up for sale. Can you believe… it sold in 6 days. What is the problem with this real-estate market??? We are so excited, even though we need to be out of the house 4 weeks before the MS is finished. Bu...

I'll be out fulltiming later this year, I hope I hope. So, about selling my house. I've talked with a real estate agent, but I'm still confused. I want to avoid capital gains tax but I have had a home office for many years. Does that complicate it? The money from the house sale will need to be earmarked...

We have a new manager at work and of course our sick call procedure has changed. So as I was printing the memo that I emailed myself from work so I could post the number here at home, I thought of all you FTers. No matter where you are, no matter the weather, no matter who's parked beside you, you can move to...
I have a 2005 Sabaru Forester. Can I tow it on all 4 wheels? I understand there is a place to look this up. Is it online or a book? Thanks for any help! Paul
Hears another "stupid" question from a rookie! I'm looking at a used Newmar that has a Motostat "automatic" dish on the roof. Can I use that dish to get Data Storm or a similiar service for TV and Internet service? I believe the current owner uses Dish for TV and has no internet...
I have looked at both models and looked in many forums and it seems most people prefer the Tiffin product mainly because of the service. Since I am new and have not traveled in a motorhome, but plan on fulltiming in the near future, can you explain this to me. Also any comments on the two models would be a...
I do a lot of hiking in the mountains and my knees aren't getting any younger, so I'm thinking about getting some walking poles. Linda, you really seem to enjoy yours. They seem like a simple piece of equipment, but I'm wondering if there are any "features" I should look for in a set of poles...
