Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Howard: We are looking to purchase the Hughes Net sat service. I went to their site and saw the home service advertised for $249.98 installed and $59.99 per month. This is with the HN7000s modem. Do I just call them and have them come out and install the unit on my 5th wheel? Or is there a problem wit...
Last month we were in New Hampshire and our 2006 F250 Super Duty Diesel would not start. Only 16,000 miles on it. We called Ford Roadside service. They had us towed to a Ford dealer who could not look at the truck for one week. We called Ford back. They said it was on us and refused to tow further. THey...
We are hearing that this will prevent leaks, help maintain more consistent tire pressure and significantly reduce cracking from weather. Looks like it will cost us about $10 per tire on the MH at local tire shop. We did find this website that makes it sound like a real cost saver when you use that calcul...
Hi Linda, I hope this is the right place for this. Since you sell hummingbird feeders and jewelry I decided to post the question to you here. My question is --what state to you have your sales tax number and business registered? Do you use your home/base state? That seems to make the most since to me, but t...
I need some help. Is any one familure with the Excutive MH. Daughter is looking at one that is a 1985 and they want $15,000 for it. It has a solar panel, auto leveling, and has a new engine. It has been sitting for 2 years. Daughter says the inside is very nice and well taken care of. I am afraid this is...
If you guys haven't checked out the new Bluestreak toilet chemical dispenser you should. We bought one after a friend told us what a great experience they had with it. It is merely just a dispenser that will put just the right amount of chemical into the water as it is flushed to keep the mix right. It is me...
Hi Howard, I read in your journal a couple of days ago about your Soda maker (Penquin?) This looks like a really "neat" little device...how do you like yours? It is easy enough to swap out the unit for a new/full one when you are traveling around? Thanks, Rick and Debi Gardner, Massachusetts...
It sounds like the down side to air cards is diminishing, as some of the limitations in terms of service areas and sharing service between laptops are resolved. I already have very good luck with my Sprint air card (as many of you in the chat room are well aware!). I'm looking to upgrade to a new model to g...
OMG! My house was shown for the second time today (not my realtor). Two hours later my realtor calls me and asks if I can be out in three weeks.... there is a full price offer on the table if I pay up to $2k in closing costs. Since the full price offer is $15 more than what full price was a year ago, not an issue. A...
We are interested in attending the Life On Wheels Program next summer (probably in Iowa) and were interested in any feedback you might have. We are experienced RVers (several rigs over 20 years), but now focusing on fulltiming starting this winter. The topics looked interesting -- did you find it he...
Howard, not really a question but a suggestion. While in Colorado, be sure to take the Cog railway to the top of Pikes Peak in Manitou Springs ( just outside Colorado Springs ). It does not cost an arm and leg and it's several hours of great scenery. There may be a little snow on the ground there yet on the sh...
Seem like a MTD for towing would be great. All the pull and stopping power you need and not as big as a HTD. So the wife can drive and it's not too big for driving to Walmart. Seem like you can get one a couple year old for less than you pay for a new Ford 450. What do you think
We are looking at a 2004 Newmar DS DP and would like to have it inspected by an independent before we go any further in negotiations. When we were in boating, it was called a Survey and was done by trained Surveyors. Does anyone know how we go about finding someone to inspect and certify a MH? We live in t...
If I wish to change my Posting name from "Janenne" to something more "exotic" how do I go about doing that? I've been to the EDIT page and I can see where I can edit my "Signature" but that is different than your Posting named. ALSO...how do we upload a picture to go with...
Wow, I just had to jump in and say "hello" to you all! Allow me to introduce myself and my husband, we are Bill and Debbie Goode. My husband retired from Eli Lilly a little over a year ago and I retired from running my own business just a few weeks ago. We made the decision to full time last Decembe...
Hi, we are Larry & Lee Ann, recently retired from Las Vegas. As you can see from the pic we have a black dog named Onyx. She is 3/4 pomeranian & 1/4 poodle. She is 3yrs old & spoiled rotten! We got her at 6 weeks and she was just a handful. We hoped she would stay around 10 lbs because her dad was s...
Well one of us is a fulltimer (Richard) and I will be shortly! He is up at his new job in Virginia and I am not quite fulltiming yet. I'm back in Florida finishing up the house packing and getting our daughter moved. But in 4 weeks, we will both be fulltiming. Not traveling much yet...but saving up the mo...
I just realized I posted a question already (yes, the one about the all important virtues of TP on the road). My husband and I are both retired Air Force and in our early 40's. After retirement, we moved to Key West on a whim. We always loved it here so when the opportunity arose to move here we jumped o...
I am looking forward to traveling in my RV, either parttime or fulltime. I also enjoy surfing the internet and about all my financial stuff is handled online. I know there are satellite systems and other ways to get onto the internet out there, but I am curious as to what kind of ISP(Internet Service Pro...
Howard, We are looking at laptops and would like some ideas on what things we will need on the laptop for fulltiming. It will be for personal use not a business. We looked at a Mac and Lenovo(IBM) which we were impressed with. The rest we were not. The Mac is pricey but nice. We have an HP that is severa...
Does anyone have a recommendation for a campground close to Chattanooga? We will be headed down that way in a couple weeks for a V-Star Motorcycle Rally. We have hotel reservations but are thinking of taking the trailer and pulling the little MC trailer behind. Any thoughts?
Concerning Howards post a couple days ago, we had the pleasure of having the Bar D Wranglers entertain the snowbirds at Desert Trails RV Park in Tucson this past winter. I thought they were great. The winters can be COLD in Durango so they tour the warm southwest areas and play at campgrounds. Sure beat...
I know there are a lot of computer gurus out there and I am hoping to get some good advice on which virus protection services are best. I have been using McAFEE online security suite, which has done a good job until recently. They did a major upgrade recently and ever since then my email program has not wor...
Well, today we got one baby step closer to full timing and completed our 1st garage sale. Now we are sitting back watching the Live Earth concert and enjoying a beer. We started early Friday morning and had steady traffic flow throughout the day, selling about 3/4 of our stuff. There was much le...
Walmart has a combo washer and dryer delivered to a store near you for $680 approx. My fiver is washer dryer ready and the brand at Wmart is HAIER. Has anyone tried this particular combo unit or know anyone who has. Would appreciate any info. Thanks

After reading the latest edition of Rv Dreams Journal and how Big Bend teaches hikers and campers who is boss, we just have to share and invite you to share memorable experiences. Some of our most memorable experiences involve hikes and camping trips that didn't go quite right. Sometimes the reason...
Hi, We are looking at our options now; we are babyboomers who are still working but close to retirement age (born in '45). We have helped our kids so much, one has a special-needs daughter, and we are limited funds-wise. We are looking at this life style as an option. Anyone else in our boat and making i...
