Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Since the new year of 2008 will be getting underway and many folks may be preparing budgets and getting finances in order, I thought we would start off with a Scheduled Chat on Budgets/Finances. So, mark your calendars for January 2, 2008 and bring your questions! It will be at the usual time: 9:30 ES...
I need help from our experts! I was contacted today about using some of our photos in a local magazine. It's sort of a "chamber of commerce" type magazine for a small recreation area. Assuming they would be willing to purchase photos for publication, I have absolutely no idea what price t...
I know many people here make TX their home due to tax advantages for income tax. On the other hand TX is not any bargin when dealing with initial vehicle registration. Does anyone know how they deal with moving into TX with a vehicle you already own. There are 3 potential scenarios. 1) Vehicle is already...
Howard---Since you are an attorney in real estate. I have a question. We bought our house in 1993 and lived in it ever since. We paid about $86,000 and are probably going to sell it for around $160,000. Will we have to pay taxes on the capital gains or can we just take the money and use it to buy our tow vehic...
Linda and I would like to wish everyone on the forum a very safe and Happy New Year. We also hope that all of your "RV Dreams" come true in 2008. Jim and Linda
Would anyone like to share thier New Years Resolutions? Mine are simple: 1. Slow down and enjoy my family, life and God's creation 2. Take better care of my health and fitness 3. Appreciate the blessings that I have recieved I could say hurry and get on the road as a fulltimer, however I believe that is pa...
While we are in Flordia for the Holidays visiting my daughter we went to the biggest RV Dealer in the U.S.A. We got the grand tour and what a place!! It was amazing, and they even have a campground. Learned the most sold rig in the MH business as right now it is the Mandaly and saw 2 fifth new Royal Interna...
We are researching 5th Wheels to buy for when we retire in a few months. What we need to know is about how much extra weight do most people add in extras to your RV? We are trying to figure out what all we can take with us. Thanks!-- Edited by Howard at 12:17, 2008-01-01
Today truly was the first day of the rest of my life. After years of dreaming and planning; today we left our hometown of the past 30 years and started out on our fulltime life. We had been living it the 5th wheel since we sold the house in September but, I was still working. My official retirement date is 12...

We're thinking of going to the Everglades National Park area next winter and are looking for full hook up campgrounds in the area. We don't need all the bells and whistles just laundry, restrooms, and showers. Anyone know of anything close?
Holy Cow!!! I didn't think this was EVER going to happen. We finally closed escrow on our house!! We were supposed to close on the 25th of October and it finally happened on the 20th of December. I won't go into details as they are way to complicated and way too long of an discussion. Just suffice it t...
I have yet to see paytrust mentioned around here or on any RV forum ( I am sure it must be mentioned on some form, so no need to search to prove me wrong). It is a service where you have your bills sent to their address and they scan and organize them for you. So when paying your bills you go to the paytrust sit...
I have narrowed down my choice to the BF 21FB. I already have the truck to tow this light weight TT. It will be just me and it will have enough room. Would anyone care to comment on the Bigfoot TT for fulltime all season living? I think i have made the right choice. Thanks
I met a great couple while traveling, the first comment he said was " we are at 90/10 where are you?" He was referring to how well they get along full-timing. An interesting survey would be for others to "rate" their compatibility on the road. All we hear about is how great this...
MY wife and I have been rv'ing since we were kids with our parents and we now own a 2003 Georgetown 35 ft motorhome and tow a 07 Pontiac G6 with a Blue Ox Aventa LX tow bar. Howard, Back on August 10, 2005 you wrote: "Being out in the middle of nowhere, we could not help but be a little paranoid about our safety. A big expensive truck on the side of the road and no one around for miles." Since that time you have left your truck alone in remote areas many time as you ha...
Hi! I've lurked a few times here, thought it might be time to join. My name is Kris, we are not really in Colorado (well, not right this minute, you never know) but KrisinCO has been my screen name on RV.net for many years. Al and I have been RVing for many years, first with 5th wheels, then a Class A we called...
OK folks, our phone number can now finally really live the mobile life along with us. Google has acquired grandcentral.com which lets you pick a phone number anywhere. When you get a call to that grandcentral number it will automatically relay that call to any and all of your "real" phones...
We are planning a working "Katrina Relief" vacation in March and April. Our plans are to travel from DE to MS over a period of 4 days / 3 nights. Can anyone give us advice regarding finding RV parks along rte 85 near Sturgeonville, VA, near Greenville, SC and near Montgomery, AL?
I thought the RV-Dreams snowbirds might enjoy a few pictures of what they left behind. I have posted serveral pictures in my Image Gallery under "Wisconsin Winter" which were taken on December 16th, 2007 looking out of the windows of our stix'n'brix in Hubertus, Wisconsin. I hope they...
On previous trips up the east coast to Maine, we have found a lack of an overnight stop west of NYC. Departing the DC area north on I-95, as we approach the Edison, NJ area, we veer west and then north around the city to cross the Tappan Zee Bridge back to the coast. Five hours behind the wheel is doable, bu...
For some reason I can't get that post to open up, can only preview the start of the message....but didn't want to think you were being ignored. WELCOME to the forum!
We will be purchasing our MH next March. However, because we are on the mission field and won't be let go of it for several years and may not be for years; we will be using our MH for 3-4 day weekends around the city. There are several campgrounds around us and within 30 min. of the mission fields. I work...

Heading to California in about a week or so. We're driving a 36' gas MH towing a Saturn sedan. Proposed route is I-10 west to the Pamona/Covina area, then 210 to San Bernadino where we'll pick up the 5 North to 46, then west to Paso Robles. We've been through the mess of the metro area as far as the 210, b...
We're planning a 5 month trip to Alaska in summer of 2008. We currently do not have a satelite system. To any of you who have done the trip, did you have satelite TV north of Calgary? What about internet access? Who is your satelite provider? If we decide to get satelite, who do you recommend for insta...
Hello everyone and thanks for the great welcome in the chat room. There is a good deal of info on this site and I welcome the chance to learn more about this RV'ing lifestyle. My wife and I have not taken the "fulltime" path but are serious part-time RV'ers. We drive a 2002 Newmar Kountry St...
