Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We have a 2008 Carri-lite with a flat screen t.v. mounted in the slide. In order to get it hooked up we and our installer have been unable to remove the t.v in spite of the suggestions from Carriage and an r.v. repair guy. The 'Dish saga' has been ongoing for a month..... Anyone have any ideas for us slow...
I know some on the forum are workcamping for the summer months like Howard and Linda and JoAnn and Doug. How many others are also? I was thinking it would be a good idea to see so if you are raise your hand.... southwestjudy
Last night I was reading all the paperwork that came with our trailer and I read in a manual it said "This trailer is not intended for permanent residence as it could over use the appliances" Well we got our trailer for just that reason. How are your appliances holding up? How long have you bee...
I talked to a real estate agt this afternoon, who will come by my house on Friday to see what I need to do to sell, and what I can reasonably expect. The market is down here in the Asheville area, but not in my price range. I own a 3 br/2 ba doublewide on 3/4 acre, so it might just appeal to a young couple trying...
Hi, all- Actually wrote this while on the road after rally festivities had ended in Branson and we completed another one of our get up and go routines. For those that are still only thinking about the fulltiming lifestyle, please know that this was only written in jest and I wouldn't be anywhere else...
Hi All, I've been having trouble on the smugmug site all day. It seems to be running very slow and continually timing out. Anyone else having issues or is it just me? Beth
I am not retired yet but WORKING on it. I was chatting with the crew the other night inquiring about the cost of a blog, turns out it's free. Not to many things are free nowadays so I had to take advantage of it. Hope you enjoy the read. Stay Safe, John and Bridget http://travelsofjohnandbridget.blog...
Having owned some property in So Colorado a few years back we liked to keep track of the weather from home. I rediscovered this link, Pagosa Web Cams, while cleaning out my Favorites. Thought some might enjoy them as we follow the posts from H&L and Doug & JoAnn. Judy
Fellow RVers, I tow a 5er with a Dodge V10 dully. I have been looking for an auxiliary gas tank to put in the bed of the truck that will set level with the sides of the bed. Almost all the tanks I see are diesel or cost in excess of 1000 dollars. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get a gas aux tank a l...
Have any of you used those large storage bags that supposedly compress clothing, linens, etc by using the suction from your vacuum cleaner? Do they work as well as advertised?

We've moved a lot, but never before into a MH to fulltime, which means we have to get rid of a lot of "stuff". Our kids are all across the country and don't need any of our furniture. Ideally, a buyer for our house would want the furniture too, but we can't count on that. I just have this awful f...
What is the correct way to check to see if the engine alternator is not charging the house batteries? I know there is a solenoid that handles the charging of both the engine and house batteries. On my Journey, I think the solenoid is not working correctly and not allowing the house batteries to charge...
Hi, just thought I'd let you all know that there's a couple of new members, full timers, from the K.C. metro area. We've been retired for about a year and a half but full timing for almost three. We will be leaving K.C. again Aug 1 for the Miami area to meet our new grandson. We can't wait! We'll be...
Hi, everyone. I just discovered the RV-Dreams forum today and am looking forward to getting to know everyone. I guess you'd have to call me a wannabe since I won't be a full-timer for a long time! My family is young and... gas is expensive! Full-timing has always fascinated me. What a wonderful way t...
Our '97 Honda Accord with 210,000 miles driven and another 50,000 as a toad will die someday (maybe not) so researching what we will get. I like the CR-V and my husband the Element. The storage area in the Element is certainly a plus so we're kinda leaning that way. We know we have to get one 2005 or olde...
I have noticed that whatever the make or model, whatever the floorplan, the distribution seems to be pretty much the same - say for a 5th wheel, half the space is devoted to bedroom & bath, and the other half to living, dining & kitchen. I could do with a full size bed, and prefer a shower rather t...
How do solo rv'ers cope with filling water tanks & emptying them? I remember in the 70's going out with my brother & his wife in their motor home, and she poured something in the toilet from inside while he worked with the hoses outside the MH. I thought it was pretty gross back then, so I didn't...
OK I have tried many cleaners and some I see are better than others but I don't know if I have found the right one. I want your input on what you think is the best. I just got my new 5ver and I want to keep it looking as new as possible. The park we are living in now has trees all around us and I know that there will be...
Hello all. Can any one answer this question? I was told I could buy my own land and put my Rv ( that I don't have yet) and live on it. Is there some kind of zoning laws prohibiting me from doing this any where in us? We live in Hanover Pa now. Our goal is to buy a 5th wheel and go full time rving maybe 9 months out of t...
Is there such a thing as good fuel mileage on an RV? With gas prices climbing as they are, it seems like the worst time to buy an RV. Maybe even the worse time to own an RV, sadly. What's the best fuel mileage you've ever been able to eek out of your RV? Is a joke to even think about such a thing?
I just have to share my peanut butter marshmallow recipe. It's certainly not exclusive to RVing....could be done in a regular kitchen or over a campfire. No matter where you do it, be sure to invite me! Melt 1/2 cup peanut butter and 2 tablespoons butter in a pot. Stir in a bag of large marshmallows....
Our fiver has a gel coat finish, What is the safest, and best things to use when washing it ? For example, kind of cloth or sponge, and what kind of cleaner would all of you recomend, and do you use wax afterward? Thanks
I was so excited to see gas prices here along Alabama's Gulf Coast drop this weekend to $2.35/gal. Diesel is still at $2.85.
Wonder why it is not coming down in price like gasoline? Wondering what others are having to pay for fuel? It really makes a family on a tight budget think twice about trips even t...
We have a black 2006 Tourmaster motorhome that gets white streaks on the sides every time it rains. I power washed the roof and really didn't help for very long. The roof is a white rough textured fiberglass. I don't have a clue of what to do to stop this mess. Any help would really be appreciated. Th...
I am going to mount a CB antenna on the sidewall of my MH. I need to drill a dime-sized hole through the sidewall to pass the antenna wire for the radio. I don't want to hit a stud. Will a household type stud finder commonly sold at Home Depot work for this application? I believe the studs in the MH are me...
A year ago I installed a new Dometic Brisk Air 15K BTU A/C unit to replace our old unit. The 5'er has a ducted A/C setup and the new unit fit perfect and works great the majority of the time. Keeps the trailer a lot cooler than the 13.5K BTU unit. We don't often have to use the A/C but since it was new we've...
