Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Our fiver has a gel coat finish, What is the safest, and best things to use when washing it ? For example, kind of cloth or sponge, and what kind of cleaner would all of you recomend, and do you use wax afterward? Thanks
A gel coat finish is one of the most durable you can have and is easy to take care of. We bought a automotive wash concentrate at Wally world and it's served us well for a couple of years now. We just wash the rig when it gets dirty enough and it looks great. It's only been waxed once, last winter in Mexico, and it really didn't need it then, but the price was too good to pass up. I think you'll be very pleased with the durability, Fred
Gel coats are far more durable than the automotive clear coat finishes on many full paint rigs. The gel coat is the same as what a boat has, and for that reason.
Look at the marine products section at a Boater's World or even at Wal-Marts. McGuires (for example) has a fabulous line of marine (i.e. Gel Coat) products from cleaners to waxes to restorers. Not that regular car washes are bad in any way, but gel coat specific products certainly have an edge as does the marine heritage.
Like Jeff said I polished with McGuires this Spring, and it is very shiny and easy to wash and keep clean. I was told to do it twice a year to keep it up, and hopefully I will do that...but no promises. Larry
