Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
This question is for our son who is camping as I type. He called his Dad this p.m. very frustrated. His black water holding tank will not empty when the valve is open. Can someone hellllp us tonight? Thanks, Lois & Don
Hi, I only joined yesterday and made the decision to get serious about fulltiming only Saturday. Been thinking about it for a long time though. Today I stopped at one of the local RV dealers and looked at some 5th wheels and 1 travel trailer. I looked at the TT last and decided that a TT was not going to cu...
Well we decided to sell our 2009 Landmark by Heartland and we ordered a 2009 Mobile Suites 36TK 3. We have long wanted a Mobile Suites, and since we weren't satisfied with the inclose bath room we decided the time was right. Tried to get a Big Sky Montana, the closest we could find with the floorpl...
I was looking at a floorplan yesterday that featured all the slides on one side of the 5Ver, which was also the side where the kitchen appliances were located. When you unhitch and set up, you level the unit right away, correct? Then when you open 3 slides on one side wouldn't that affect the level? Is...
I'm not too adept at this stuff, but I think I've created a place to post my journal, aka blog: http://gypsy97.blogspot.com Any feedback appreciated. gypsy
We are a bit afraid of a cat geting out of the RV. Unlike dogs ...they are sometimes skittish, and if they ever got outside may run. Heard a few horrror tales of not finding them. It would break our hearts. How dou you all solve this problem Any advice before we go fulltiming come Spring ? Thanks -- Edit...
Living alone and eating smallish size portions, I buy organic meats, dairy & produce. I also cook just about everything from scratch, so I don't buy many processed foods at all (the exception being my Jif Peanut Butter & Wheat Thins!). I'm used to shopping at a local food co-op, plus Earth F...
We are looking at the Heartland Cyclone Toy Hauler. We liked the fact that we can take our motorcycle, our bikes, and our kayaks in the "garage area" plus have extra storage. It looked like it was made well, but we have no experience in owning an rv..... Does anyone have one or any thoughts ab...
I need some ideas of which toilet to purchase. I want one that is somewhat reliable but for sure one you can get parts for. In May 07 I bought a new Doubletree Elite Suite that came with a SEaland/Dometic Concerto toilet. After 3 months of nothing but trouble (the last time waiting for weeks for parts) I...
Hi...Getting ready to put the house on the market and trying to get the 5ver ready to roll! Our latest question is the sewer hose. We would like a way to store it seperate from the other items in storage. We don't have a bumper on our Excel and so can't do the PVC pipe back there. Has anyone found any other sol...
So far I've viewed several 5th wheels on the sales lots and hundreds on the internet. Sometimes I come across one that has a color scheme that I find really awful and it would be hard to live with day in and day out. How difficult is it to change the larger items? Window treatments would be simple, but so...
We want to sell our 2 chairs that came in our new 5er we bought last July. I think $350 for the pair is a fair price. Nothing wrong with them, we want to have just one massive chair and a end table. Right now we are close to Los Angeles and we be close to Santa Barbara next week. 31"wide x 32" deep x 38&...
I have looked at every 5th wheel/class c/trailer mfr website, used rvs, etc., but don't have a clue as to going about researching a tow vehicle. What is it going to cost me, which model do I need, is the hitch installed separately somewhere else, etc. Buying a vehicle has to be the absolute least favor...
I have seen references umpteen times to buying a particular guide before you purchase an RV, but I have looked everywhere and read old posts, but can't find it. Can someone help me out here? Thanks. gypsy
I have just told the two family members closest to me about our plans. They think we are crazy giving up all the stability that we have now. I expected as much and have not been swayed from our decision. We are young to be fulltimers, I am 37, Damian is 35. What has been others experiences in telling their fa...
Hi everyone! New member and my name is Jon. My wife and I would like to go fulltiming but it will be 10 years down the road. In the meantime, we thought it would nice to have a good RV magazine to read and I hear Escapees would be great. However, I don't see a way to subscribe without being an Escapees member...
I didn't see Howard's original post about his mishap, until recently when he mentioned it in the 3 year financial recap. Reading about Howard's mishap with the 5th wheel dropping onto the pickup bed rails reminded me of a video job I had a few years back. I was asked to edit an accident re-creation vid...
Well I drove down the mtn to Marion, NC this morning and looked at 5th wheels at Tom Johnson's Camping. I was really impressed with a 2005 Cardinal 33 LX by Forest River. Terrific floor plan, seemed to be in great condition, and I could see myself living in it. There is a closet that is plumbed & wir...
Good day to all. Please bear with me as this is my first time of posting at RV Dreams. I'm also new to posting on forums, enough so that I don't know yet how to get some things, like avatars, to work for me. Since our names are almost generic for gender, let me explain that I am Terry and my wife's name is Jo. S...
We started this blog on our way to Alaska in May 2007. It is a daily chronicle of our travels with two Oci-cats. Enjoy! We're always interested in any comments or advice. Leslie W and RetiredGuy http://carpediemadventrues.blogspot.com/ -- Edited by LeslieW at 23:52, 2008-09-03
Howard, how much more could you have made if you would not of had cancellations at the rally ? You business totals look darn good for the rally with nearly $5000 profits. Also the month after with $1000 profits. Too bad you had the cancellations. Just wondering if you included the raffle money that was...
I'm looking at used 5th wheels and found one I think I would like more info on - a 2002 Newmar Kountry Air. I've read somewhere that some campgrounds have age restrictions on RV's and would like to think I wouldn't get turned away from the only CG for miles around. How do the CG people know the age of your R...
I've been lurking for a couple of months reading through the different topics and also following Howard & Linda on their journeys. Your excitement rubbed off on us & we finally made the decision to fulltime. We considered it 5 years ago but decided we didn't want to give up a home and instea...
Greetings, Damian and I are going to be selling the house ASAP and buying an motorhome for fulltime living. We have wanted to do this for 15 years and now have the ability to do so, we will make "camp" in Southern Oregon but plan to travel. We are currently living in Western PA. We are quite exci...
Hi everyone, we are Frank and Miriam. We live in Key Largo, Florida and love it here, but look forward to visiting other places in the US and maybe the world. We have 3 children (22, 21, and 18). One is married, the other one is in the Navy and the baby is just starting college (and living at home). Our goal is...
http://rvinglifestyle.livejournal.com/ We plan to be fulltime by Spring of 2009, sooner if the house sells. We plan on Damian continuing to work while we live in a RV park for a year or more to save money for a cushion while we travel.
Our house has been on market since April. Only three showings - no sale. We really want to retire and full time effective 2/1/09 We are considering a "rent to own" sale. We have met with a couple who recently moved back into the area. As he has started his own business (OSHA Training) the...
I'm starting the count down to January when we hope to take off for full timing. Of course the house has to sell first. My DH will keep working until then. I'm finished (teacher - ex :) ) So I am currently making lots of piles of stuff - stuff for the RV, for storage, for the kids, for Goodwill, and to try to sel...
