Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
In Montana, Wyoming and Idaho are there BLM boondocking areas like in Arizona ? I remember in the 60's we used to just find nice stream or river and set up camp in remote areas and it seemed to be ok with the local ranger or sheriff. Just wondered if it's possible to boondock on public lands in those states...
After reading the posts regarding Doug's surgery & Jerry & Kit's family loss, I want to tell all of you about a website I have been using for the past 3 months. After learning about my diagnosis of breast cancer, a friend told me about this website, www.caringbridge.org. I was able to set up m...
I was wondering if any of you are attending the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta this year. It starts today and the weather isnt supposed to be very good for the starting of it. We are missing it this year still in Pa. with family. southwestjudy
I'm not sure where the proper place to post this is, so I'll stick it here and if someone wants to move it to a better spot go right ahead. Doug (of "Doug & Joann" - Howard and Linda's friends /co-worker's at Poma) is scheduled for cancer surgery tomorrow, Friday October 3rd. Here's a link...
I would like to know if anyone has a comment or info about the Cruiser 5th wheel. I'm considering a 32/33 ft model with center kitchen. The dealer also has the brand with rear kitchen. RV Consumers rates the Center Kitchen model as suitable for snowbirding, while the RK model is rated for vacationin...
Any ideas on why my internet data speeds slow down from DSL speeds to dial up speeds when I connect the aircard (Verizon 727 USB) to my Cradlepoint MBR 1000 wireless router ? If I plug the aircard into the laptop directly, the speeds are fast, better than DSL. I'm wondering if I have some sort of conflict o...
The RV industry lost another manufacturer.
RV Industry Downturn Claims Pilgrim
Six years after Pilgrim International Inc. started producing towables and less than one year after introducing a recreational vehicle made from a new composite material, David Hoefer Sr., one of the founders,...
We have been looking at a Tiffin Phaeton diesel pusher. The one we are interested in is the 42 QRH. It has a rear radiator and thus, I don't see any easy access to get to the engine. For instance, having been a former truck driver, I am aware that diesels occasionally need to have the fuel filter(s) repl...
The question of what cell phone service and how do I boost my signal, etc repeatedly comes up, both on forums and in private contacts to us. So I wrote a quick section on our website about this topic. Communications on the Road. Link to site in our signature.
I've searched here in this thread and didn't see anything on this. My question is: Do you keep your stove cover on, so you can use it for traveling or do you just take it off and store it? Frankly it is a pain in my behind to keep opening and closing it, and when it's open then I can't get to my knves or spice r...
Well it's done. Our house is sold. We have to vacate October 24. A little nervous about the whole thing. We are wondering what club is the best for fulltimers if any? (Escapee ?????) We were heading for Florida first, however some places are very expensive and very overwhelming since there are man...
I know most of the good reasons to buy a 5ver for full time living, but most of them are out of my price range, and the ones I can afford are rated for snowbirding. I'm leaving no stone unturned, and found that RV Consumers gives New Horizons TT ratings that are excellent, and also classifies it as suitabl...
Hi everyone.... newbie to rving and looking for the right rig to travel at least half the year. We'll be keeping our home in the Florida Keys b/c it rents well as a vacation rental. OK, now back to my questions.... we really like the Cyclone 3950 cuz it has a great garage area for the motorcycle and extra st...
We will be spending our first winter as fulltimers. Currently we are in North Carolina, but we're thinking of spending the winter in FL, AZ, or TX. It is my understanding that some of the RV parks will fill up. Should we make reservations somewhere? If so, when should we make them by? Is early Decemb...
Has anyone gotten remarks from some people who disapprove of the amount of fuel it takes to RV? I got a real dirty look and a head shake the other day while refueling, but no comments. I assume the person thinks I'm over contributing to CO2 greenhouse gases and speeding along climate change. Glad I don...
I've seen a couple of 5vers advertised recently as "generator ready". Surely 5th wheels come with generators, just like they come with kitchen appliances, tanks & hoses, etc. Or must I not assume that every 5th wheel has a generator? Do I ever have a lot to learn! gypsy
Does anyone have any experience with Linksys Wireless G IP phone, Belkin wi-fi phone, or the Netgear one? I will be working this winter while in the southwest and would like to use Skype. These wireless phones allow you to use your skype acct. wherever there is open wifi. Free or 2-3 cents/min. if to...
Still on the campground/boondocking topic.....but in conjunction with the "personal security" (weapons for defense) topic (on another posting). I carry "protection" with us when we go tent camping. Mostly for "critters", however, also for "de'tente...
One group of questions I have is about campgrounds. As we are planning the "FT" plan, my borther-in-law has stated some "facts" about campgrounds which I'm looking for validity of the facts. I understand length of stay rules (no squatting, same as our tent camping rules more...
We had planned to travel a little south on July 6, but it will be delayed by a week. We have to have the roof replaced. We consulted with 3 RV repair places and took it into one place. We had hoped we could have it patched. The whole roof has to be replaced due to a seal not working around the airconditioner in b...
Bob and I have bought a small piece of land in N.M. again to live on. After fulltiming for 2 yrs it is just not for us. We shall keep the RV and just do 3 months in and 3 months out. Will travel to a warmer place in the winters however. We have decided to build a small southwest dwelling on it as we consider N...

Howard: I seem to remember your mentioning the internet/computer virus protection you use and that it was a free download. Can you refresh my memory with the maker and the web site where one can download it. If my memory is wrong it won't be first time, nor the last. Alan
Hello all, I'm glad I found this site thanks to some HDT'ers...Yesterday I found an important item on this site. TETON is falling back and regrouping......music to my ears, as that is what we were loking at for next year. I'm looking forward to getting as much information as I can before retirement n...
Well, we took a look at an RV Park yesterday in Creede, CO. Check out the Journal entry Trip To Creede. We are considering Mountain Views RV Parkfor our 2009 RV-Dreams Rally. Since we will be out west in early 2009, we will hold the rally somewhere in the west but not too far west. We are looking at June 2...
I am packing up the last of my possessions, separated by "TAKE" and "STORE". I have a lot of candles, oil burner, kerosene lamp (decorative kind), and so on. Somewhere I remember hearing that it's not a good idea to have anything with an open flame in an RV because of the flammab...
Fellow Rvers: The current converter in my 5er has died and I must buy a new one. My 5er has 50amp service and my old converter was a WFCO 55amp model 9855 converter. My question is that since I am buying a new one would I gain any advantage if I bought a converter larger than 55amp? Would this help or incre...
OK this is the question. We have a nice older Toyota Camry and get 35 mpg, can't tow as too heavy for our B+ mh. We plan on an 8 month trip starting in Sept this year. This RV'er is CHEAP and practical. If I buy a new Toyota Corolla for $15,000 that I can tow and it needs to be a 5-speed, I won't really like to d...
