Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
In Montana, Wyoming and Idaho are there BLM boondocking areas like in Arizona ?
I remember in the 60's we used to just find nice stream or river and set up camp in remote areas and it seemed to be ok with the local ranger or sheriff.
Just wondered if it's possible to boondock on public lands in those states. Or is it still acceptable to find some remote spot and stay a few days without the authorities getting upset.

Hi there Bear, I'm not sure about the answer to your question, but Sean and Louise post a great deal of info about boondocking areas in their blog, The Odyssey. They mentioned several places in Wyoming, if I remember correctly. Here is a link if you want to check it out: http://ourodyssey.blogspot.com// The often give GPS coordinates, so it might be of some help to you. Molly
Rather that the large "Long Term Visitor Areas" (LTVA's), like Quartzsite and Yuma; what you find all over Wy, Mt, Id are "Dispersed Camping" areas. Those are both BLM and Forest Service lands where unless camping is specifically prohibited, its allowed. There are some common sense rules, like camp more than x Ft from any road, any stream, etc.
I know some of the best views from camping spots are those on BLM. I would like to know where some of these are. I would not want to spend long term at any..but overnight would be cheap enough for me and the views would be great. I will have to look at this link and check it out for further reference. Thanks
