Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I think I found another answer to the question of where to hide the litter box: if you Google 'hidden litter box' you will get several hits for covered litter boxes that are designed to look like a planter. They're not cheap, but you could put them anywhere you like. Tim Fansler
I have always wondered about the mattresses in RV's and just read in RV.net blog that they aren't comfortable. Can I substitute a mattress from home for one that comes with the RV? Or are they different enough in length that it wouldn't be advisable. I have a really good queen mattress as well as a ra...
This isn't exactly the right Topic but I didn't find the right one so I chose this one. We will be in Durango for the next week and are planning to spend some time in the Ridgeway campground operated by the Colorado State Parks. We don't mind towing in the mountains but occasionally get the drift from s...
Since this has been started in the introduction thread, thought I'd get it started in it's own. Solo travelers may feel intimidated by all the couples/families out their traveling & camping. What is your style? How do you fit in? How do you find the campgrounds that suit your style? For me it's eas...
We are taking our cat with us, I purchased an expensive but hopefully worth it Littermaid Deluxe self cleaning litter box. Has anyone else used on of these? Besides the litter box situation, is there any other problems, or issues you have had living with your cat on the road or in an RV park. I already mad...
As I read the various blogs and websites I know that so many of you have some really neat experiences while on the road. Maybe it was a local music fest you just stumbled upon. Perhaps it was a truly unique museum. Or maybe you found a small restaurant serving native, home-made food that was too die fo...
I have seen that it is not a good idea to buy a Fleetwood Motorhome. Is this because they are not made well or because of poor service after the sale. We tyhink we have finally decided on a Motorhome and have looked at the Phaetons and a couple of Newmar. We keep seeing nice Fleetwoods but is that just fluff o...
Greetings We are also researching whether a fifth wheel or motorhome would be right for us. If we were going to buy either and want to keep it for say 20 years or so which one, FW or MH would be more dependable and hold up for that long. Has anyone seen or still use an old rv for fulltiming that is dependa...
Just saw this this morning from RV Travel newsletter. Losses mount at struggling Fleetwood Enterprises Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., announced a big quarterly loss on Thursday, hurt by a steep decline in sales of its motorhomes. The company reported a net loss for its fiscal first quarter, ended Ju...
Now that we have purchased our new-to-us used motor home I am selling our RV Consumer Group package of four CDs and paperback. This was a great resource in my search. The package was about $90 new. I will part with it for $45.00 which includes shipping by Priority Mail. Included are four CDs: How to Outw...
I know this subject has been discussed but I am curious. We are going to be going full time very soon and a decision has to be made soon. I would like to know how many of you folks that have the Datastorm rooftop system feel that the large $$ investment was worth it or of you had it to do over again would you opt f...
My 89 year old dad recently has had to stay at a nursing home while he received an intensive antibiotic treatment for a urinary tract infection(UTI). At first I was very impressed with the nursing home staff and the quality of care they provided. He was supposed to be there for 7 days. It's 6 weeks late...
Both: $71,000
We had this rig custom built for full time RV'ing with computers, Internet, and cats. We fulltimed for three and a half years, but have now moved into a house.

Hi I came across this site several weeks ago and now I find myself checking in just about every day so I think I should join. The information I find here is invaluable for someone just starting out. Right now I rent an RV several times a year for a couple of weeks for vacations. My first time out in an R...

We currently have the house on the market priced to move, we plan on living in our RV stationary here in PA so Damian can keep his job while we save up enough for us to have a one year cushion. We eventually want land with a self-contained, off the grid Yurt and our RV to travel as we can, we are relatively youn...
I love to read and would love to have one of the e-book readers. Does anyone have one? which one? do you like it? My eyes aren't as good as they once were so screen size / legibility would be important to me. Thank you for any suggestions, experiences, etc.
Hello Everyone, My husband and I have been living on this fantastic website and are so excited about going fulltime next year. We have been doing lots of research, bought the 5th wheel info ratings at rv.org and plan to go to a big RV show next month. Choosing the right 5th wheel and right size is a bit tr...
We are so excited about becoming full-time RVers, just as soon as our house sells. I turned 60 Wednesday and we put the house on the market yesterday. We are both retired and have adult children living in Georgia, Florida & Texas, who probably think we're crazy for selling our home and posse...
Hi, I've wanted to run away from home for a long time. I've joke for a few years about selling the house and everything in it and buying a 5th wheel. Only taking a few clothes and the contents of my sewing room! I was semi-serious but everyone thought I was just being funny. Well yesterday my daughter's...
I just read through 2 pages of posts on various types of internet connections, and frankly, my brain just isn't wired to understand all that stuff. I'm not quite there yet, but hope to be in an RV within a few months. I'd like to stay in national park CG's, COE etc. when available, so that rules out wi fi,...
Wondering where most of you will be on Labor Day?? The day after we shall be leaving N.M. and traveling to see family and friends in Pa. also hoping to see some of the leaves turning while there. southwestjudy
I am so happy to have meet some of you in the chat room a week or so ago. Things have changed drastically for us! First, I was in Texas visting my 7 year old son the last week. I am in a custody battle, not to get off topic but it seems I need to be back in Texas ASAP. So we are going through WeBuyYourHouse.com and w...
We have been considering selling our new Teton fiver and go back to a motorhome. Just not happy driving a MDT when we get to our destination. It restricts our ability to travel the backroads. Our only complaint with motorhomes (we have had 5), is the TV located over the dash. Most seating faces each o...
Looks like we may be travelling to McAllen, TX, area around the end of December. Does anyone have a favorite place to park in that area? Also, please let me know if you think reservations would need to be made ahead of time at the place you are recommending. Thanks
I would like to hear from anyone out there who is workamping solo rather than as a couple. I have tried to read about some of the jobs that are out there, particularly with COE. (I'm a retired COE civilian employee, btw.) It seems that many if not most of the positions want a couple to be camp hosts, with...
