Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I just read Sat. edition of www.RVtravel.com that RVA approved to increase the mazimum size of fifth wheels from 400 sq. ft. to 430 sq. ft. and the new rule takes place immediately so they are saying to keep your eyes open for more spacious fivers in the months ahead. Maybe this will help some of the indu...
Are they any full-time RVers out there that have or have had their tow vehicles of possibly there RVs or fifth wheels wrapped with vinyl graphics as a moving billboard? We are doing all the planning and preparing for our full-time RV life while we are waiting for our house to sell and we've been trying...
Sorry Howard about your beloved Louisville....they were a little off today and Michigan State played well. The pressure did not seem to faze them. I think I will now cheer for Mich State (never have been a fan...Larry Bird baby!). They have to be the "feel good" story for this year's Final...
I have been an occasional poster here and we have finaly made our move into our 5th wheel. We are not retired yet and are tied to Central Indiana for the time being where we are still working our jobs and looking forward to the time we can head out. Would love to have you follow along with us. http://workinr...
As retirement draws closer for us, we want to become full timers. If we spend winters in the southern U.S., will we be able to workamp for our sites? Texas, New Mexico and Arizona would be our choices to winter in. -- Edited by pmwade on Tuesday 31st of March 2009 06:35:31 PM
Hi Y'all! I don't have a trailer yet, but probably will in 2 years or less, and plan on full timing. My online business is taking off very strong, and as people say, you can live anywhere with an online business, so I say, why not live everywhere? I have been eeking by in the SF Bay area on a 'mere' 40 gran...
Why don't RV manufacturers put bigger pads on the bottom of MH levelers? I was thinking of having a thick steel plate welded to the bottom of mine. Then I wouldn't need to keep putting something under them when I get to my locations. Seems mine are just the right size that they punch a hole once the weig...
Can Canadians workamp in the southern U.S. in winter in exchange for their campsites? We plan to spend winters in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona . -- Edited by pmwade on Tuesday 31st of March 2009 06:37:45 PM
We are currently staying in a campground on the Oregon and California border. We are planning to spend the next three months exploring California. We have flown into California before but we never camped there. We would love suggestions on things to do and the best campgrounds. We have a 40 foot motor...
Howard, Recently we've had a couple of hawks or falcons in the area around my office building. I believe they have nested on top of a 10 story building across the street and come over to our building in search of prey. I haven't seen them close enough to determine if they are hawks or peregrine falcons. T...
I tried to figure out where to post this question, hope I got it in the right spot. With all the reportings about tornados, and the devastation in Kansas, my question is about weather and those weather alert radios. I have looked at the ominous/scary weather in Howard and Linda's journal(and those pic...
DirecTV has informed me that my request for Distance Network Service has been denied. DirecTV told me to call the networks and ask them for their reason for denying me service. Has anyone else been down this road and how should I handle this to get service when I'm not in my 'home' territory?? Barb
When I was a little girl my Papa called me "Heifer" instead of Heather. He was a cowboy and it was a term of endearment and never bothered me. It was not uncommon for me to be referred to as "crazy little heifer" or "crazy heifer" because of my outgoing and fun-lovi...
Lets see if I can make this short. We just received an RV at a VERY low price. We were on the lucky end of a nasty divorce and bought our 2001 31' fifth wheel for a steal. We had been looking into buying one for years, but just kept putting it off. We have rented some bumper pulls and had a pop up too. Anyhow. We ha...
Things have been pretty hectic here. We had a bearing freeze up on the trailer axle. Three weeks later it still hasn't been shipped and we have to get to MD for a wedding, actually two...ummm, now it's three....LOL! We are towing the motorcycle behind the Freightliner and head to MD on Monday. We'll mov...
If the high-voltage sockets are three-pronged, how is the TT/5er/MH grounded to the planet? Is it through the leveling jacks? Do we know if that's good enough? Has anyone had any problems with static electricity build-up on the appliances?
Hello! We are new to the forum and new to RVing. My husband Paul and I have decided that the full time RV lifestyle is for us! We are in the planning stages now and would like to leave by this fall. So what is the PROBLEM? Our youngest daughter will be starting college in the fall, and our older married dau...
Good day, All. In our past camping, we have very limited experience in using a shower numerous times and how that affects the hot water heater in a camper. Our experience has mostly been one week vacations, so there has not been a lot of hot water usage. With that in mind, I have a couple of questions upo...
My question---Will my 30 amp service in our Sundance 5er power our A/C, electric hot water and fridge at the same time, plus let's say my daughter runs a hair dryer when all this is going? I have an opinion but would like info from the experts here. Thanks, Larry
Anyone towing a Toyota Tacoma? I know it is not recommended in the manual, but I have heard that some have figured out a way to do it safely. The truck is out of warranty but has been very well maintained and runs like a top. We'd like to keep it. It is a 2000, 4 WD, V6 that we'd like to tow four down. We don'...
I called Last Resort RV park in Rockport, TX and made a date for all of March 2010. This is a step of faith that we will sell the condo. I even have a site number of 83. There's several of the RV Dreamers going to be in that area, so we decided to go ahead and sign up now. We can cancel by January 2010 if we do...
I need something to keep me busy. I m looking for a paying job that can be done from anywhere we happen to be with the RV. I haven't figured out a way to get decent results from internet searching so thought I would ask here and see if anybody has some ideas. No get rich quick schemes, just something to kee...
Howard we have been following your RV journey for some time now. I am wondering if you forsee yourself (with Linda of course) coming off the road anytime soon and back to the "rat race". What would you and Linda do should you make the decision to return to "sticks & bricks" or d...
My wife of 36 years and I have been full timing now since June 2006. We were avid campers in Florida, for over 30 years. When we were married in 1973, and some of last remaining cash we had received at the wedding was used to buy our first tent! Been camping ever since. When weekend and vacation campin...
I have been looking at the Winfield stabilizers for my fifth wheel. I would be interested in hearing opinions from anyone who has them on their fifth wheel. Do they work? Are they worth the money. Thanks,
Will someone tell me if I'm way off base here? Several days ago I emailed a dealer with a question about one of their Bighorn models. Today I called the same dealer and spoke to a salesman about a Heartland Sundance. This afternoon I got a call from the dealer,in response to my query about the Bighorn,...
On March 1 after packing for weeks we finally went and moved in to a RV resort. This is just to sort out what we really need when fulltiming. Now we are in the process of scaling down "We don't need this!" On 3/14 I leave for a Workamping position in Fl. DW will stay here until she retires (7/31) I w...
