Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
When we decided to fulltime, I seriously thought about what I HAD to have. ICE! We bought a portable icemaker. We love it and think it's the best investment ever! lol
Hi Everyone, Brad (husband) & I are good hikers and are entertaining hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim. We think we'll plan to do this next year, 2010, but know we need to make plans now. Does anyone know of a good website or blog of people who have done this? Thanks & Happy Travels! Suzanne www.c...
Hello all! For everyone who replied to my original post with all the great advice I thank you. Because of this (and other) wonderful websites we found the support we needed to follow our hearts and move our plan forward. We have now talked to two of our children about our plans, as expected our oldest d...
I have decided on residency in SD when my house gets sold, but there are at least 4 different mail forwarding companies that I know of. They probably all do a good job and the fees are relatively similar, so I would like to know if anyone that uses a SD mail forwarding service can give me positive or negati...
For anyone who used to enjoy "Night Court" Harry used to ask his dad how he was feeling........in the spirit of Night Court....... How's your RV plan going? Well there was that one incident with the Nation's meltdown...........but I'm doing MUCH BETTER NOW! Last Saturday, I redistribut...
I just learned that NuWa, makers of HitchHiker 5th Wheels, will start up production again in June! Here's a message from Mike Mitchell, CEO of NuWa, that was posted today on the NuWa Owner's Forum http://www.nuwaowners.org/: NuWa is developing a new business model and will be back in production i...
Just wanted to share some info about the "green" bags that you store fruit & veggies in to keep them fresher longer. I was looking for the Debbie Meyer Green Bags & found them for $9.99 for 20 bags. I'm always looking for ways to save $$, and I wondered if anyone else made them fo...
I am kicking around the idea of painting the interior walls of my 5th wheel. If I decide to do it, I will start with the interior of a closet to make sure I like it before tacking the main living areas. Most of my walls have that border about 3' from the floor, and it is coming loose in some places. Has anyon...
Friends of ours with a Monaco diesel pusher just advised that Monaco is closing up. They were scheduled to go to the factory for warranty service and were told to go instead to a dealer, and they would have to pay for any work.
We've only been in the RV for six weeks, but we've run into something we think is odd. The RV park has a nice dog walk area, but will not allow dog owners to walk their dogs through the park. They must be transported in something enclosed. We've seen the oddest configurations of strollers, baskets on...
This isn't really RV related but it is travel related and I have to share a great place to stay with the RV-Dreams community. If you ever find the need to stay in a hotel in Pismo Beach area, here's a winner: My dad turned 90 years young and we decided to hold a family reunion at a Hotel in Pismo Beach, CA. ...
We are finally starting to move toward full timing!!! I am cleaning out closets and we are taking the junk to the flea market where we have rented a booth. So far we have had to fill the booth twice in two weeks which is good because we have a lot to sell. Of course we are pricing things riduculosly cheap.....

Greetings everyone! My DW (Cindy) and I (Chip) have listed our S&B last Nov. and are in the process of researching a FT rigs. Right now we are leaning towards a TT/pick-up set-up. We will be living in our TT in a fixed location for a few years before we quit our jobs and retire, so we can build up som...
We tow a 2000 Ford Explorer 4 wheels down behind our 38 foot gas motor home. We had the Neutral Tow Package installed on the Explorer, works fine. The problem is I want to install a suplimental breaking system in the Explorer. Most sytems push on the break pedal on the toad to perform the breaking funct...
We have a 2002 Class A MH with fiberglass roof. Roof is beginning to feel chalky and we notice white streaks down sides with heavy dew and rain. Is there a sealant or coating that we need to use?
Thank you, Brenda
Has anyone considered traveling with their dogs riding inside the camper instead of the tow vehicle? We have a wonderful little guy (Brody the Bichon) who is well behaved, well trained, sweet mannered, and is excited to get in the vehicle and go with us! Problem is -- once he rides for 5-10 minutes he s...
I got my rocks all messed up but anyway the camphosting job is at Rockcut State Park in Rockford, Il. Park Manager is Dave . Number 815-885-3311. Need 3 hosts mid May-mid Sept. Registration duties. Brenda
Fulltiming is still in the planning stage for me, but I have a question about boondocking in urban areas. One of the things I want to do is to experience some of the great cities around the country that I haven't been to before. I know there aren't a lot of good, inexpensive campgrounds around most cities...
My name is Katy, it’s great to finally be able to introduce myself, (I have been lurking unregistered for some time). Right something about me. I am twenty four, I live on the Isle of Wight (the teeny island at the very bottom of the UK) where I work for my dad selling Land Rovers and trailers etc. I joined t...
Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to replace the gaskets on a Dometic fridge & freezer? Does it require complete disassembling of the doors? Thanks. gypsy
All the posts with hints & tips about backing up (especially into campground spaces) talk about working with your spouse/partner. Well, since we travel solo there isn't someone to guide us from the back. I realize that backup cameras help but how do you do it? I've thought, especially while lear...
Hi guys, need some advice. When I get to the states on my tourist visa money is going to be tight. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to get a working visa as you have to have a job before you travel and presumably stay put and work there, not an option for me. I have been considering how to make money with...
We moved into our 5th wheel today to start our fulltiming lives. We will be staying at this RV Park until then end of the year. Our monthly rate doesn’t include electricity, it is metered and we pay for what we use at the end of each month. This is our first encounter with metered electricity. I understand...
Howard, What happened to the 'Recent Posts' link on the forum? I've used it a lot to make sure I don't miss anything... I sometimes don't get to the first summary page before new posts scroll off the list. Update - never mind. I found it. It looks like the colors have changed so that the link is barely visib...
I've done some searching here on the forum and it seems like the overall consensus, if you don't mind spending premium dollars, is that the newer Garmin Nuvi's (200,500,700 and 800 series) are the best bets for your money. The higher series have more bells & whistles. Clear visuals, great "...
Every time we go thru Mobile Alabama on I-10, we can see the U.S.S. Alabama battle ship off in the distance. I never stopped because I didn't know if there was a parking area for the 5th wheel, so I just waved and kept going. This time I did a little research and found out there was a very nice state park...
I have the Dometic in my 2004 Hitchhiker II, and I notice that once in a while there is "sweating" in that small space between the fridge & freezer. I checked the gaskets and sure enough, the bottom gasket on the freezer seems to be slipping a bit. Is there a way to fix this gasket back in p...
