Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Our volunteer position at Big Shoals State Park in White Springs, Florida will be available Feb. or March. We plan to move on the first week of February after 3 mos. of volunteering. We've thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer. The position includes a paved site, water and 50 or 30 amp ser...
I have a 1 year old travel trailer that already has some frame rust. In reccomendations for the best way to treat that? It seems the worst on the bottom of the frame's I-beams where the plastic sheeting (belly enclosure) is screwed to the frame members. Thanks!
This question has been in the back of my mind for a bit. Say it's raining out and you have no choice but to pull in the slides and head out. We have slide toppers, but what about the slide sides? Won't there be water in the 5er? Climb over everything and dry them off? Maintenance tricks and tips, how you ha...
Has anyone used an independent inspector or survey service before their purchase of a used MH? We are planning to fly to TX to look at one on consignment at a dealer, and being the newbies that we are, I am not sure that a dealer is the best inspector to trust. It's a 2003 Dutch Star 38', and just by asking I...
Just wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with using The UPS Mail Store for your mail forwarding service. We want to retain our permanent residence in the town where we now reside. Guess, I'm full of thoughts today. Must get things done before Monday. Judy
Well everyone, we got a "kink" in our plans this week. So much hoping to get our house sold and get on the road sometime in the spring or early summer. House was set to go on the market this week and Judy now has to have surgery. She will be having a rib re-section to remove a bone tumor on one of he...
Hi RV-Dreamers, Do the run of the mill portable dishes sold at Camping World receive Internet and TV signals if you subscribe to both like H&L, or does that take a special (expensive) disk? Thanks. Matt
Browsing through the internet I ran into this article from Yahoo about what people are cutting back on in times of a weak economy. In reading it, I thought not only has all this stuff made sense to me in the past, it's actually what many of you RV'ers have been doing for years and why I have become interes...
I now have a new blog at http://phoenixonceagain.blogspot.com It will be our RV blog, starting now with life/preparations leading up to hitting the road and continuing with our journeys once we begin full-timing. A couple of reasons for a new spot. It is a new life for us. I am "playing with&q...
Hi, yes we are building a brand new RV park in Alabama and why not ask the people themselves what they need and want in a RV park? Is there anyone how could offer some advise?
Hey All We've been searching high and low for the RV with the IT factor. Haven't found it yet but we have narrowed the possibilities. Our first thought was for a DP about 40'. So we looked at Allegros, Monacos and a few Winnebagos. Then we got sticker shock. Last week we decided to look at 5ers. Wen...
I hope no one has made serious plans for this show. From what I can find on the web, it's been cancelled. Anyone have info to the contrary? Bummer. This was going to be our first serious RV Show. We've been planning for this show for months. Thank goodness we live in Las Vegas and didn't make any financial t...
We have two flexsteel recliner swivel rockers, that we do not use and would rather have another couch that folds down into a bed. These recliners are tan leather and are coming out of our 2008 Newmar. We are in the Houston Tx area.
We are planning on attending the Rally in South Carolina in April. We would like to break the trip up into 2 legs. We are in St Petersburg Florida and would like to travel about 4 to 6 hours each leg. So we are looking for a good place to stay about half way. That would put us somewhere in Southern Georgia...
First = thanks for all the well wishes from this great family as I recover from Cat Scratch Fever. I do believe I have turned the corner and am well on the mend. I go for blood work today and see the doctor tomorrow. I pray my liver enzymes have stabilized. Then we will talk about when we can FINALLY pul...
We have the typical Dometic side by side reefer with an ice maker in the freezer side. We never use the ice maker and want to remove it so that we have more room for frozen food. O.K. for ice cream. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions. I have turned off the water but wonder if there is another line that...
We are full time wantabes. Just put our house on the market. We will be spending at least a month in Canada this summer. My questions are: 1) Cell phone service & cost. What providers do you all use, what is the fee for out of country & how good is the service? 2) What about internet & using skyp...
Well i am back. I had some computer problems and lost some of my favorite sites, this one is at the top of the list. Got it fix and could not find the Home page, lucked into it on another site. So I am back and trying to play catch up on my reading. Dan
I borrowed a nice Garmin GPS from a friend to play with on a recent trip. At end of the trip, I decided that I preferred my laptop and Streets and Trips. There are so many more things that I can do with it that aren't available with a GPS. For one, waypoint use is more user friendly and useful. Instead of t...
Gidday! My name is Frank and I come from a Land Down Under. As I sit writing these lines it is 9.30pm on Thursday night, 21 january 2010 I am aware that you are, or should be, asleep. I have been following the adventures of Howard & Linda almost from the beginning. I had just bought a converted bus and wa...
Ok. We have purchased our tow vehicle. 2008 Ford F450 2 wheel drive. Doris even test drove it and feels she will be able to handle it. Loaded with pretty much all the options you could want and more with low mileage. The hitch gets installed on Tuesday and have the itch to tow with it to see how she does...
I'm considering participating in the Adsense program. Guess I'm wondering is it worth it? Does anyone actually see any earnings from this? I know it won't be much but just wondering if it actually has any results. Thanks!
It's been a couple of years, but we were at an RV show and there was a farming group asking for Workkampers to come and help harvet the beets. I have looked aroud some on the internet, and can't find anything. Does anyone in RV Dreams have a clue where I can find them?? Any information would be appreciate...
We are going to be buy a used 5th wheel to keep our entry costs low and we hope to get a model that is 2-3 years old. What should we be on the lookout for in terms of use and abuse? Should we stick with a dealer or private sellers?
For those who are looking and researching 5th wheels. One thing I really like are the Frameless windows. This is our second 5th wheel with frameless windows. They in my opinion are far superior to the rubber framed windows. The frameless windows are roll out, and can be left open when its ra...
Jo and I went to the Fort Worth RV Show on January 9. We went primarily to see a new 2010 DRV Mobile Suites fifth wheel and talk to the factory rep who we had been corresponding with via e-mail. Before getting to the area where the Mobile Suites were, we stopped at another dealer area and started looking at...
We currently are towing with an F-350 CC LB DRW truck but are considering moving up to an F-450 for all the reasons that have been discussed on this and other forums. Currently we do not plan to have a chase vehicle when we go full time so will be using the truck as our only means of transporation ...
Opportunity-maybe...Recently the opportunity to purchase a 2003 F-250 Diesel, short bed with 7,000 !! miles on it was presented to me. I know this vehicle and am friends with the owner, so, I can personally verify the mileage. The truck is a 6.0. Not knowing all that much about this type of vehicle...
Greetings all! I must confess I've been lurking and reading and researching for about a week now and have decided to join the conversation and family. After we returned from our annual 2-week rock climbing trip to Las Vegas over Christmas, we decided that it was time to liquidate the house and cars an...
