Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
When we started out blog I posted it in the non-rving section but we are now living in our RV. We have to stay in our area until September 1 and then we are off on our adventures. The flaming on a stick is a play on Jeff Dunhams' jalepeno on a stick. I just happen to have a flamingo my sons gave me for mother's day...
We have applied and are currently in the process considering a position for this summer. They actually called us. This is our first year workamping and thought we would really have a problem getting our first jobs. If you have any thoughts, advise, or experience, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
Well I am going to look at a 2001 Sunnybrook tomorrow. I is not for full-timing, it just to get back to traveling in a TT. It is 24 foot with a rear bath, front bed, center kitchen. The owner bought it new and claims it has been in covered storage. They are selling it to up grade to a 5er and do more travel. G-Ma...
Our boss was out here today and it is a green light for us working as roving/relief/interim managers in the Fall and Winter. This will be on an as needed basis. Both sides will have to work together to see how it goes and iron out the details as we go along. The company has never had a position like ours...
Hey All, We'll take our TT(trade in) to the dealer tomorrow(Thursday) afternoon, finish the paperwork, do a walk thru on our new 36XTRM5, then spend the night on the dealers lot where we can check things out (our PDI) all evening and next morning till they open. I'm hoping the list will be...
Hi Folks, Are travel trailers welcome at Casinos that permit RV boondocking, or is that reserved for the Class A folks? Any other tips for travel trailer boon dockers? Is Wal-Mart less likely to approve an overnight stay for TT full timers? Thanks! Matt
Hi Dreamers!!! I just had to jump on here and post my experience with our Financial Advisor. I met with her so I could discuss our finances and so forth for when we plan to go Fulltime in 2013. Needless to say, her reaction was LESS than supportive. Essentially, she called our fifth wheel (which she had n...
Researching a trip to Gunnison next month. Highway 50 over Monarch Pass is looking pretty intense. Anyone pulling a large 5er have first hand experience with this pass??
Hi all, I am scratching my head, perplexed. LP gas tends to make me cautious as it is, and now I have a bit of a problem... If I turn on the gas on my stove and then turn the igniter, nothing happens - the flame does not ignite. I do smell gas. I went out to check the indicator on top of the tanks, and it was gree...
I'm new to your website. First, let me say, It's GREAT! A wealth of info that is so so helpful. In reviewing your getting starting and overview pages, I notice that you list a picnic table and bench, but then indicate that you no longer have it. You also indicate that your slide out tray is no longer t...

We arrived this week and learned that there are still positions available. Work 30 hours/couple in exchange for site, FHU, some meals and all camp activities. Located very close to "The Villages" for restaurants, free nightly entertainment, shopping, etc. - about an hour to Orlan...
We are getting ready to take off on our first road trip (I don't think the mile from the dealer counted!). We are a little confused about tire pressure on both the truck and the 5er. First question - is the PSI listed on the side of the tire the maximum PSI or the recommended? On the truck, the label insid...
I am looking for a passanger side rearview mirrir for my 1992 Itasca motorhome. Does anyone know if there are any RV junkyards or a parts supply house for motorhomes? Thanks for any help Rodger
Planning a camping trip from Salt Lake City, UT, to Yellowstone. Any suggestions concerning routing from SLC, either up through Idaho or Grand Teton NP Wyoming. Which routing would provide best camping opportunities, in a travel trailer, best scenery and roads? What about camping opportunit...
My name is Daryle and I have been in the Air Force for 22 years. I have 2 years to go then I will be retired at 42 At that point I will become a full timer, but my story is a little different. My girlfriend will still need to work so I will be near my family (actually on my brothers farm) about 8 months out of the yea...
As some of you may know, I live in a stationary RV in Half Moon Bay, CA with my 21 year old son. A month ago my son and I took a week-long vacation and flew to Tampa, FL to visit relatives. We left his then-girlfriend in charge of the RV - she stayed here full-time while we were gone to take care of the critters...
Hi All, As a new member of the "Dream" family I just have to say what a treat it is to read what you ALL have to say. This is only my 2nd-3rd time to post anywhere as the other RV Forum sites which I have checked out ( no offence to anyone intended) do not have the "friendly" feel I find...
We are back home from our outing to Double Lake. We sure did enjoy the days off to relax before hittin' the ground running on our return home. We again learned about our rig and about ourselves on the trip. Now it's taking care of things that need to be done before we leave or in order to leave and cutthroat...
I am looking at purchasing my first GPS and like everything that I do, I research the topic till I am thoroughly confused. The GPS will be used for vacations within North America (not necessarily via RV) but the first big test coming up will be in Alaska in an RV. In reading some of the reviews of GPS models...
We will start our retirement and RV adventures July 1st. We are interested in keeping our family informed about where we are traveling and blogging about our travels. Does anyone have a great software or web option for this project? Thanks for your advise.
Hi everyone... I have a 2007 GMC Sierra Classic 3500 Duramax/Allison dually. I recently bought 4 new rear tires, Firestone Transforce HT 215 85R/16, Load Range E. I looked up the load rating for these tires and it's 2,760 lbs per tire. That's 5,520 lbs per side, and over 11,000 lbs total capacity on...
I've seen several posts on the subject of selecting one's state of domicile and/or residency. Howard also has some good information on the web site. However, all of the information on taxes, insurance, registration, etc. seems mostly anecdotal. Has anyone found a web site or book that helps wit...
I would just like opinions about the pros and cons of a dually truck for towing a fiver. We are still in the planning stages of working our way up to full-timing and I just want to do it right the first time
We’re trying to decide on the most cost effective Home Base. Our pension is significant enough so that avoiding State income tax is primary. That narrows our search to Nevada, Texas, South Dakota, Wyoming, Florida and New Hampshire. Do you know which of these states charge personal property tax...
Thoughts or experiences would be welcome. We'll be pulling a new Jayco 29 RLS which is 33'long and weighs 9000, loaded. My research causes me worry that the 5.3 V-8 would be underpowered, but that the diesel would be more than I need. I was told to consider the Gas V-10, which is far less costly than the d...
I had heard there was a GPS that would provide routing that takes into consideration of your vehicles' height, width and length. Has anyone used one of these? What model / brand was it and would you recommend it?
This is our first posting, so we are no longer "Lukers". We are 2 "born and raised" Minnesotans who are still working 8-5's, but have announced our plans to retire in November and hit the road in January 2011. We are both too young for Medicare, so we will be studying the Health...
I am considering adding a tire pressure monitoring system. I am looking at the one in the camping world catalog however I know there is one discussed here called pressure pro (however it costs about $200 to $250 more). My question is does anyone know about the quality of the system from camping world...
