Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
In our little town, our firefighters have an annual pancake breakfast - it was today. We walked down to the old lodge and saw Tom, who is a retired firefighter, busy realtor for the mountains, and unofficial mayor. He's the one who sold us the house we're in. We had a nice chat over pancakes and coffee, an...
We've made the decision; just can't do it yet. But I'm working on getting rid of the stuff - I'm the ebay/craigslist/freecycle/thriftshop/garbage queen! Someone told me a few weeks ago on my blog that this process is liberating, and I agree. My husband Don is retired from the AF; he's been a patien...
I have found a 2002 5er by R-Vision Trail Lite. It is very clean and seem to have been used very little. It has been kept in covered storage when not being used. I am thinking this maybe the one I can use until I decided that the full time life is for me. I am wondering if this is too old and if anyone knows anythi...
Has anyone traveled into Canada with a pet in your vehicle. What are the restrictions regarding your pets. I wouldn't want to get there and not be able to bring her back to the US with me. She is our baby. Curious about how this works. Judy (and Bob)
So I was kinda bummed about the upcoming weekend, I WAS going to try and get away to my "retreat" in N.E. Arizona and meet up with some folks up there, but the weather was threatening on Thursday, and I needed to get an oil change and transmission service before taking my little rig on another t...
As I stated on another thread one could call me simple minded but I much prefer to manage my own money... which got me to thinking... Does anyone here currently full time and trade stocks? If so I would like to hear the challenges that you may have faced trying to do this given the limitations of technolo...

We went on Saturday and got the new 5'vr out of storage at the dealers. Had to fill the fresh water tank as the parks around here don't have the water turned on yet, and headed to our first campground. It was exciting and stressful all at the same time. Everything went well. Used the check lists I've garne...
Dear Friends, Instead of spending countless hours researching for a tow bar and brake system I thought I would ask my friends their recommendations on a tow bar and brake system. Also, when I am ready to trade my element for a jeep I would like to use the same equipment minus base plates of course. Lookin...
How do fulltimers get counted on the Census? Our South Dakota mail forwarding address is a place of business, so we did not receive the Census in the mail. We picked one up in town, but not sure how to answer the questions. We were on the highway on April 1. So are we homeless?
Ok we are going to try this living in our camper FT from May 1st until late Oct... We do have a 10 day trip planned at the beginning of May to Disney for our Grandson's 10th B-day but outside of that we are staying put ... We are still both working and this is going to take about 20 miles off my daily trave...
We have six days off starting tomorrow. The 5er is loaded except for last-minute items. We are headed back to Double Lake Recreation Area near Livingston and will return Friday. Hope everyone has a safe and joyous holiday weekend!
I have had a houseboat, a power boat and a fishing boat or two but a couple of canoe trips and reading about other people enjoying the kayak we decided to try it. Our first impressions are listed below. Feel free to add your impressions about our sanity or your experiences. The cost of $320 with free shi...
A thought was rumbling through my head last night. IF I had solar cells on the roof AND enough batteries, would it be feasible to run the refrigerator on electric during travel? The reason I ask is that running with the gas on during travel may not be feasible in some areas (going through tunnels for ins...
I know most of you have pretty much traveled all over the country. What I was wondering was what is the furthest you have traveled from the mainland United States. have you traveled to far Northern Canada or have traveled through South America? Have any of you ever taken a cruise across the Atlantic and...
Our boss happened to stop in yesterday, hoping to catch our relief manager; he had forgotten that we would be working. Tues/Weds are our usual days off. We three were talking and we told him our plans. He knew full-timing was our long-range goal and he said the only thing we'd get from him was a bit of en...
I have heard from folks on this forum and others out "in the world" that satellite Internet is not as outrageously expensive as I thought. If any of you sat Internet users have a minute to take a look at this site I found http://www.maxwellsatellite.com/personal.htm and can give me an ide...
It seems those of you that have sold your homes always mention that you had to fix certain things after the house inspection. They always find something it looks like. What sort of items did they find.Maybe if I could have some idea in advance I could hopefully get ahead of the game. Thanks for any help.
Hi my name is Sherry and I've been dreaming/researching/reading about owning an RV for about 4 years now and just bought a 2004 34' Winnebago Brave 2 slides and hope to be full timing within the next 18 months. Husband David is coming along. Trip to the rally will be a Brave maiden voyage for all of us....
Well -- we are still in the sticks and bricks house that is up for sale. But hopefully by September we will be on the road. I have been thinking about the best way to store stuff. We all have stuff to store. I was in a store the other day that had translucent (not clear) rectangular bins about 12 to 14 inche...
I live right off of I-70 and looking out of my window I am seeing more and more RVs going by. It is getting to be that time of year and I can't wait to get out with my RV.
Judy and I are in the process of giving up our 3 years of fulltiming for our new found Shangri-La. It is amazing how much value you loose on your RV each year while on the road. Everyone needs to count this into their monthly and yearly expences. Once this figure is caculated in the "life on the ro...
Yup, that is not a joke. Thousand Trails is giving away 1,000 memberships. (as of 20 mins ago they had only giving away 280 of them). That's an awesome deal, (but not for us that paid for one, it's like a slap in the face). If your interested, (and I don't know who wouldn't be that RVed) go to their website an...
It’s getting closer only 160 days until April 1 when we begin our full timing adventure. We will continue working until September 1, but I am counting April as the beginning because, the Good Lord willing and the creek doesn’t rise, we will move into our new fifth wheel. We have downsized considerably...
After our house being on the market for two years, with two accompanying price drops, I really think it is getting desperation time for me on this house being sold. Let me take you to my world for this last weekend. We are on 3/4 of an acre with a fenced back yard. (Think large area and a very long obstruc...
Well I guess we kind of took the plunge. Made an offer on a 2008 Jayco Designer RLTS today. Its on a RV auction site so we have to wait for auction close this afternoon to find out if we are the new owners. I hate playing the waiting game, but if we win I feel we will get a fantastic buy.
Hubby and I are heading to Maine this summer.....looking for any and all information that you may have to share. We have a 40ft toyhauler, so we will need bigger sites. That being said, we still like to hang out in the cozier places. We park the rig and take the bikes out to explore. Also, anyone going to...
