Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Using a Map to record your travels

We will start our retirement and RV adventures July 1st.  We are interested in keeping our family informed about where we are traveling and blogging about our travels.  Does anyone have a great software or web option for this project?  Thanks for your advise.

The two free blogging sites with maps that I know of are http://www.mytripjournal.com/ and http://www.travelpod.com/. Example RVer blogs for both are http://www.mytripjournal.com/wanderingwishnies (whom you will recognize on this forum) and http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog/thesairs/1/tpod.html (good friends of ours).

You can also use Google Maps GPS function if you have an Android smart phone like the Verizon Droid. Friends with Google Maps on their computers can track you every movement! Sometimes that is a good thing and sometimes...no  I also added a Google map to my blog and then everyone can see where I went. If I had thought of it I could have done that with each blog entry.

https://www.blogger.com/start owned by Google is a free blog site and works really well with Microsoft Windows Live Writer also free. You can put a Google Map of your travels into your blog.

I sure think that Blogger is the simplest way to go. We do a seminar called 'Every RVer Needs a Blog' ... we did it at the RV-Dreams rally just a couple days ago.
You can download the handout for that seminar on our website:

There are many ways to put your travels on a map. Probably the easiest is by geotagging your photos with Picasa and uploading them to Picasa Web Albums. See this free video to show you how:

The easiest way of just putting a map into a Blog post is by using Live Writer. See this free show-me video on that:
