Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

AS I sit here scanning the various comments, I have come to the conclusion that everyone in the world must be younger than we/I were/are. All of the we/I and were/are may sound confuseing but being a recent widower, the things I'm talking about were made by the two of us over 25 years ago.    Of course the items are IMHO (in my humble opinion).


Some of these considerations may be of interest or applicable for others. Not wanting to create voluminous threads, thought I'd just mention a few topics and if some of the RV-dreams family members are interested, more detailed comments will be provided.  


Health Insurance- prior to and after medicare eligibility. Cost & residence.


Residency - Licences, Taxing (IRS) & National Voting  


Vehicle Insurance - Auto, RV, other property.


Medical information and records - personal and family


Impact of major medical/loss of spouse   


Property Tax Exemptions- This one was a surprise, think about exit planning.


Banking & Investment - Accessability to contact institutions/representatives.


SOME OF THESE ITEMS WERE LEARNED RECENTLY AFTER LOSING SPOUSE                          We too felt we were going to live forever.


 


 


Our experiences concerning many close friends from coast to coast and border to border, younger and older, who had to make changes for various reasons such as medical problems, age/handicap, deaths or other family related problems.


 


In the mean time keep the green side up and enjoy

I wanted to reply to your post...then I realized it was posted in 2006. Oh Well...here goes. A lot of the questions you posted are only some of the things I'm pondering. The "what ifs". It was wonderful to hear that you and you DW shared many years of RVing. At this point in time I'm still hoping for future RVing traveling. The hope is beginning to dim. We wanted too long....made some bad decisions (maybe). Drop by my Blog ..."Home Sweet Home On the Road". Trying to figure out how of IF we can sell our home and property. Since we have a "reverse mortgage" (seemed like a good decision at the time). Then we could live in our 5th Wheel and travel to visit our children and grandchildren. That would free us from property taxes, homeowners ins, stick'n'bricks utilities, etc. What would be chose as homebase. We like the upper northwest section of Washington and we have good doctor's and a good hospital here; a couple of bases are near for commissary and prescriptions. Soooo I ponder!
