Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi everyone,I'm wondering about sizes of campers - my husband and I are full-time dreaming. We live in a fairly large home (abt 1000 sq ft) but really do not utilize much of that space. We have an 8x8 office that we spend the majority of our time, and in the evenings we sit up in bed watching movies. We real...
Just a word of caution. At about this time last year we contracted for a job at Sun-N-Fun Resort in Sarasota, Fl. for the winter. We were very happy that we landed a paying winter job in FL. but, we soon learned we were treated like low-life by the management. We wish that someone would have warned us a...
My " other half" Dave and I are finally ready for our adventure. Although we have been living in our RV for four months now some set backs have kept us in Virginia; A bad transmission and Hurricane Irene. Thank goodness Dave has been able to either fix or help with both. He is a tree climber- by...
I am a single mother/woman in her mid 40s who is hoping to RV full time. My youngest will leave home in a couple years to go to school and I plan to RV full time then. Work virtually for a company now and hoping to continue with them full time while living the RV lifestyle. Have been researching RVs and have my...
I just signed a sales agreement at the Pa RV Show last week and will be taking delivery of my Infinity 3750FL on my birthday, this Saturday! One of the things that I have been researching all week has been the frames of Fifth Wheels. A little of what I have found out is the following: The frames for the Inf...
Hi everyone, I have been wondering about the availability of fresh fruits & veggies out "on the road", and where (in your opinion) is the best area for those fresh items. Also, how easy is it to find a "natural foods" (read 'organic') market? Next question: Does anyone h...

Does it matter what state you purchase your RV in? For example, does it have to be in the state you live/domicile in or can you purchase it anywhere USA? If so, what are some of the extra costs and issues you might face? Thanks,

Just dropping a Hello and looking for some new idea's for camping next summer. I always have to plan my trips well in advance. I get great ideas for trips from other forums in the past so I'm looking for new campgrounds for next year.
We are wanting to snowbird, this winter if we can, we have a 2004 keystone Laredo 5th wheel , it has an enclosed bottom but only single pane windows. We are looking at south Texas for this year. tell me if this is good or if it is a bad plan. South Dakota can be cold. Pinetree
We are currently in AZ and going to NM. We have been in 110 degree temps several days and it's more like 120 in the cab. The dash AC can't put out enough to cool us off plus we don't like to run it while driving because of the pull on the engine. And, going up hill kind of shuts off the AC, it seems. Someone sa...
I have been getting ready for our upcoming transition to full time RVing. I posted this on my blog and thought I would share it here as well. So, I started cleaning out the garage, which led to the closets, which led to the office, which…well you get the idea.As I created the different “piles”…a pile for t...
Well my eyes are crossing over trying to make up a maintenance schedule for Winnona our 2004 34' Winnebago Brave. Reading in the Winnebago manual, the workhorse chasis manual and the Allison Transmission manual I get totally different "facts" about how often to change the oil which al...

It's hard to believe that it's been 3/4 of a year since we decided to make our dream of full timing a reality. We're still in the planning stage but getting closer all the time. This blog is currently good to share with others who are also in the planning stage. http://mitcherylrv.blogspot.com/
Hello all! Well.. I"m surprising my husband with a 24' travel trailer that I have been purchasing from a friend for a few months and will have it paid for in Sept! Just in time for fall camping (if it ever cools off in Oklahoma) We have never had any type of RV before but have done a lot of camping over t...
Mother, after moving in with us in order to keep her safe, fell and broke her hip at 6:30 AM Fri morning. Surgery was done, and all seems to be going well, she is 82, and very tough. We are both ready to leave the corporate environment and transition to the more relaxed lifestyle of a full time RVer. We don't have a timeline set up but we are working on it. We would be most appreciative of any advice that the members can provide. Helen & Ray
For those that work from the road, this digital business card app may be useful. I came across this site and tried it out...seems to work perfectly. No more need to buy or carry business cards! I believe it is currently available for iphone and android but it can be emailed to anyone. Here is more informa...
So far, I found the states with no income taxes, which we would choose first as states to domicile and to work in. We have so far been thinking of choosing South Dakota to be our domicile state. I just located a list of most/least expensive car insurance rates, and SD is on the expensive list by about $600 m...
Do they make regular refridgeraters for rv's that dont run on gas and electric? Ive searched around and the only ones I see run on electric and gas. Seems one that runs on electric only would be lots cheaper than the combo one. Im looking for one for my rv that runs on electric only. Anyone have a link or in...
You all were so helpful with my other questions so i'm firing off another one :). The 5th wheel we are looking to purchase has a GVWR of 9500lb. We would be trading in our current truck for a Silverado 1500 that has a towing capacity of 10,400lb. My question is, are we pushing the capacity too close for pu...
When we recently parked for the month we noticed a large, deep gash on our back tire of the door side pair. We bought our 2008 Mobile Suites used at a dealer. We have put on about 7,000 miles on the trailer ourselves and have no idea how much from the previous owner. I believe we can get the tire somewhat l...
I am trying to get to Zephyr Cove Rv Resort on Hwy 50 on the East side of the lake from Reno/Carson City side. I see that there is a 12'4" tunnel just north of the resort. Is anyone aware of this? I called the resort and they said they had never had anyone else ask about it. I am right at 13'2" on m...
My parents had their fuel pump changed on their class c. It has a 55 gallon tank with a gm engine. the gen is a 4000 watt onan. The pump was changed on the road not by a local shop. Since that time the gen won't run. I disconnected the fuel line at the gen , there is no fuel. I traced the line back to the tank. It goe...
I know so many of you have sent us emails requesting that we start up our blog again. While we were stationed in Tampa for a while there just didn't seem to be enough interesting news to warrant posting..... but we are thrilled to tell you that we will be going back on the road fulltime from Friday and hve s...
Another question for those of you that have diesel pushers with air brakes. When parking on a hill, not necessarily in a campground, is the parking brake sufficient to hold the vehicle or should it be blocked as well?
We have a 2011 GMC dually with an 8' bed and a Reese Elite hitch; will be towing a Montana 3400 fifth-wheel.Although we've towed trailers for many years, this is our first experience with a fifth-wheel. Is it possible to use a cross bed tool box behind the cab that extends above the rails while towing a f...
