My " other half" Dave and I are finally ready for our adventure. Although we have been living in our RV for four months now some set backs have kept us in Virginia;  A bad transmission and Hurricane Irene. Thank goodness Dave has been able to either fix or help with both. He is a tree climber- by profession- and was called on to assist in cleanup here in Eastern Va. This has helped us in that we now have a travel fund that is so much better than it originally was! 

To introduce ourselves- my name is Sheri and I am a native Virginian. I hail from the S.W area of this Commonwealth and am a mountain girl to the core. I am 51 (much to close to 52!) and I have three grown children and 6 wonderful grand children. I am a retired/disabled LPN and I worked in the Geriatric field for over 25 years. I have traveled much of the U.S but there are so many places I missed or have yet to see.

Dave and I have been together for 9 years this month. He is also 51 (a day after Christmas baby!) and a native of Maryland but was raised in both Delaware and Texas. He has also traveled a lot in his profession and- like me- has many places to see. He has never had any children or granschildren so I share mine with him even to the point of the youngest grand child being named for him. 

After a year of thinking, discussing and a bit of trepidation we sold our vehicles in May and all of our furniture- downsized all of our possessions and bought a 23 ft. 1983 Coachmen on a Cheverolet Chassis which was great- at first- as Dave's old tree work truck was a '83 Cheverolet and he has lots of repair experience with it. The Coachman- supposedly- has only 35, 000 miles on it and was very clean although the interior had been upgraded and remodled some.  We had the RV for a little over a month with only two minor outings when the transmission went out. Of course it was very aggravating and we felt like we had been duped but- in Virginia its basically an "as is- no return" on used vehicles so we made the best of a bad situation and bought a rebuilt tranny that was the same as the original (a 400) and so far so good. We have made two 350 mile trips with it so far.

We will be leaving Va on Friday headed for Houston Tx to help Dave's Mom downsize so she can return to Delaware and then on to NM for the winter- we hope. I have been keeping an eye on your site and another and have gleaned some valuable information- thanks! Now I will stop lurking!
