Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Our Baby

Our plans as some here know included our three cats, now there will be two. Unfortunately I came home today and found BABY on the floor in heart failure, my wife came right home, we went straight to the vet, and the options where put her to sleep, or begin a long process of tests, scans, injections and a bunch of other things she would hate. The doctor informed us the chances would not be good for a full recovery. We stayed with her, watched her take her last breath as our hearts broke. Baby slept with us every night, always a good friend, a beautiful black cat that was and always will be an Angel.....

Thinking of you, Gene.

Like the others, we tend to really get attached to our pets as well.  TJ is our oldest at about 15 years old and Lady (registered as TJ's Lady Dancer) is about 14, so we are wondering how much longer they will live.

Keep your spirits up.

Terry

Know from past experience what you are feeling. My little Pepper is 13 now and I am dreading the time when she is not with us.
Can't think of a thing to say that hasn't already been said. Just know that we are so lucky to have our little fur babies for what ever time we are blessed to share with them. Pat K

I am so sorry for you Gene. Wish I had all the right words to say to make the pain easier but I know there aren't any.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Gene,  so sorry to hear of Baby's passing.  We've always said that the only down side to having a pet is that their life span is so much shorter than ours.  That being said though the love and fun times they give us while they're around gives us such joy that it makes it all worth while.

So sorry, I know there's never an easy way to lose a pet, especially a beloved kitty.
Blessings as you remember the good times and the love a pet can bring.

Gene,

Following up on RVRON's comment about the life span of dogs and cats~

The reason they do not live as long as their human family members is it simply takes more than one dog or cat to teach us to unconditionally love.  Where Baby left off, another will pick up and continue your family's education about unconditional LOVE!

I'm so sorry you lost one of your cats. It can be like losing a family member.

We have three cats and they go eveywhere with us, from long weekend camping trips to snow-birding in the winter.
