Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello, I'm brand new to this forum and wondering is there anyone that tows a 5th with a SRW?! We have a 2018 JAYCO North Point (315) on order. We decided to purchase a 2017 RAM 3500/Aisin/6.7 Cummins/Air Bag Suspension as our tow vehicle after talking to several seasoned 5ers. Our 5th will gross out a...
Recently I was in the market for a new 3500 dually GMC or Chevy (I have been a general motors guy my whole life.) all I kept hearing is if you want that you can't have this. What I am looking for; general motors, capable of towing 20,000 lb. 5th wheel, 8' box, extended cab / not crew cab, (only my wife and I)sho...
I'm not too confidant in the news source, but there is a story out there that Fiat is possibly going to do away with Chrysler. The story at the link below says nothing about "selling the Chrysler Group off," so I wonder if they will just drop the brand. The story does speak of them keeping the Jeep brand b...
After lots of research, looking, questions - mostly here - I've finally bought an RV: it's a 2000 Winnebago Chieftain 36L DP. Normally I'd be concerned about the age, but it's in really good condition. I'll replace all the tires ASAP, though, and have the engine serviced and given a look-over. No...
Once again my wife and I are going to be full-timing in a couple of years. I have been camping for years so I understand a fair amount about what needs to be done to camp, but most of this was done in a pop-up or tents. What I am looking for is the one thing, OK maybe two, you full-timers simply can't live with...
Hello Linda and everyone! My question may be a bit tricky. But first, the back story: I'm a disabled veteran and domestic violence survivor in hiding. In my introduce yourself post, I mentioned that there was a local program that helps veterans get into donated RVs. They have big hearts and few res...
One of the 5th wheels we looked at, a Jayco Seismic, came with a Sani-Con Macerator pump. From what I have read it will empty the black and gray tanks in a faster much more clean manner. What are the pros and cons of this type of system and will the permanent installation allow you to dump continually at a...
Hello again everyone. i have had a rough patch. I have bought an RV that I fell in love with only I could not get papers for it. So I parked it on my dads property and stayed in it for a year or so and if one thing went wrong everything went wrong. So I donated it to a deer lease for a friend of mine. So I have yet to st...
Hello Community! I would like to fly next winter to Thailand, rent me and RV there and explore the countryside on my own. Because I never was in Thailand I wanted to ask here if someone would know a good place for it. I would also love to take part on one or more sightseeing tours or rent a private speed boat...
Hello all, Army vet retired from the Army at least. We lived in our RV a Keytsone Cougar 5th wheel for a year and pulled that thing up to Alaska after I retired from the Army. Now I am in the process of getting a degree in Computer Systems Technology. The plan is to go full time and travel after I finish my degr...
Hi, would you be willing to disclose which company you are using to insure your rig these days? I contacted Millers, and they quoted a policy with National General. AARP uses Hartford, American Adventures thru your site quotes Foremost, USAA refers to Progressive, etc.
Online reviews of all of th...

I know this has probably been beaten to death in this forum but I do have a question about extended warranties. We have decided to get one, have already started one with Wholesale Warranties, but now we have heard some horror stories about how companies will deny claims if you don't have written proof...
People are all but claim-jumping to get first-come-first-served campsites they can hold through Memorial Day around here. I may have to just stay where I am through this week rather than risk moving on and getting locked out. But, now I'm worried about July 4 and Labor Day. I really don't want to...
I'm looking to replace my 8 existing batteries in my all electric bus. I want to upgrade to a maintenance free series. Looking for sound suggestions of a "fair" priced battery that has had good lasting power. I need to do a quick buy since my existing batteries are really in bad shape (just bought the...
It's been awhile since I last posted. Life has been busy. We are back looking at the idea of full-timing, at least for a couple of years, and are currently looking at used fifth wheels rather than new. Having never purchased a fifth wheel, I am a little unsure how to proceed with evaluating a used fifth...
Everyone here seems to love their Breville ovens... but what model. I looked at Breville's web site and they have several models. All of them draw 15 amps to there is no power savings to be had among the various models. My question is what drives your choice of model, size, features, price, somethin...
First of all, you don't get decent mileage so I'd suggest lead-footin' it in the TOAD. But even with that, what gets you down the road? With me it's old-time rock and roll. Seger. Skynyrd. The Who. Stones, Delbert, Lee Roy, Kentucky Headhunters, Waylon, Willie, Tom Petty, many others. Kind of appropr...
Hi Guys: We've been full-timing for 6 years and love it. We have a manual awning and opened it yesterday but as luck would have it a rain storm with winds came through. Before I had the chance to close it the wind lifted it up and back down. Now, neither arm will slide closed. I tried using a rubber mallet t...
I just purchased this new to me 1999 National RV Tropi-Cal to full time in when I retire. Though an older RV, it only has 28K miles and looks pretty good inside, with only one owner and full maintenance records. I got a pretty good deal on it considering its condition. The carpet is a little faded but we pla...
Life has been hectic with a cancer diagnosis and surgery and of course in the rush to get things taken care of the door of our frig was accidentally closed when we took our 5th wheel in for repairs. RV had been in storage for 5 months thouroughly cleaned and dried with doors left open. Door accidentally sh...
We are considering offering electrical power to customers that rent an enclosed RV storage space from us. Assuming they plug in their RV to keep batteries charged and to perhaps run their refrigerator, can someone provide an approximate number of kilowatts that RV will use in a month. Depending on t...
