Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello All,The wife and I are in the early stages of planning a trip that would circumnavigate the Great Lakes. Our questions are has anyone here ever done this trip? How long did you allow? What suggestions would you have for us?For those who have not done the entire trip we would welcome suggestions fo...
This makes me a little nervous -- but then so did driving a 40' Class A until I did it a coulple of times. We are considering taking classes, going to the range and getting up to speed again on owning and using a gun. How many of you have one and why? Is it something you would recommend? Thanks Randy and Pam
Another member posted a thread about changing something called a "hard starter" capacitor or something, but not wanting to hijack his thread, I thought I would post a new one. (Also, I'm not really technically minded with such things, as you will soon read about.)We've recently moved back to Oklah...
I know this may be a touchy subject and may not be allowed to be answered, but I feel it is important. I am looking for a good used (2008 and newer) fifth wheel 28' - 31'. There are a number of brands and models out there and I know there are some brands or models that are better than others. I don't want to cros...
Howard, I am researching fifth wheel rv's as we are getting ready to find and purchase our first fifth wheel. Initially, my first two concerns one we have found one is the quality of the tires. I have been around RV's for a long time and I know how important the right tires can be. I recently found a site tha...
On August 5, Jim Smith (Jim01) passed away.Jim & Linda were some of the first experienced RVers to embrace us when we started our own adventure back in 2005. They have attended several rallies and, even with serious health issues over the last few years, they attended our 2015 Reunion Rally in Nor...

I apologize, but I think I inadvertently deleted your thread while trying to delete a spam comment. Please start your topic again, and I'm so sorry for the inconvenience.
There are times when I would love to post photos to this forum. I have done it a few times but found it difficult and time consuming. Has anyone smarter than me (almost everyone) figured out an easy shortcut to post photos? -- Edited by Russ Ranger on Tuesday 31st of July 2018 10:08:30 PM
Well, 2018 is right around the corner and I haven't seen a "class" thread yet so I though I would give it a try. We are planning on pulling out at the end of January 2018 but being flexible on the exact date to allow for possible weather conditions. It will be the two of us plus our two little dogs which we co...
Hi I was wondering with a 30amp travel trailer. How much should a monthly electric bill run? I know location and how much you run the air have a great impact but please give me some ranges for summer, winter and so on... Thank you
(I apologize ahead of time if this is just a dumb question.) I know using cruise control isn't the best idea for good mileage and all that. But I tried it out with my new (to me) motorhome on the interstate here in central Kansas. So there's not really big hills or anything. But I found that after it acc...
We have had a pull trailer and two motor homes and we are now looking to purchase our first fifth wheel. Most set ups that I see use the rail mount for the fifth wheel hitch. I use my truck a lot and feel the rails are going to be in the way every time I want to haul lumber, dirt gravel or pallets of products. I am i...
Howard, Was wondering if you would mind saying what Agent/Broker you went through to get your new Health Insurance in Florida? Since I retired two years ago, Health Insurance coverage is my biggest monthly expense, as we are not 65 yet. I thought I may give them a try and see if they could do better than...
Howard, I’m following your Washington trip and was wondering about your statement that you would not have taken your 5th wheel in some of these places. Is it the overall length of the 5th Wheel that is the limiting factor or something else? If you had a 5th wheel that was 30’ have made a difference? Jo...
Will a Hard start replace or supplement a failing capacitor?
I have a domestic ac/heat pump that takes 10-20 seconds to fully start. When started it runs just fine - cold air, etc. we have 50 amp and a full 120 volt service.
Will a hard start resolve the slow start problem?
Was just pointed to this forum by a fellow member and RV friend of ours, can't believe we have been in the RV community for a few years now and had not come across such and excellent board. Dawna and I with our two little furry friends Reggie and Lizzy are the RVStrayKatz, we started as snowbirds and have tr...
So I am getting water on my bedroom floor only. I have sealed the roof, found my water pump and it seems to be dry. The floor and carpet get wet over a period of days. From the plumbing I can see there are no breaks. I am hooked up to city water. My fresh water tank is under the bed. Getting wet directly under the...
We have a small 5th wheel (dry weight 5750) that I love, but our tow vehicle is having some mechanical issues. Does anyone know of company that will rent you a truck with a fifth wheel hitch? I have found several options for a pull behind, but that's it so far. I've called rental companies and RV dealer...
Our new truck should be here this week. I have been looking at extended warranties, which are actually service contracts, and would like some input on whether to go with the Ford ESP contract or a contract from CNA National that is sold by our dealer. The Ford ESP product will cover the truck for a m...
Mobile Suites owners, Is there an outlet to hook up the Dirt Devil central vac in the bedroom? We have the one outlet in the kitchen area, but it would be a lot easier to vacuum if there was a place in the bedroom to also connect the central vac hose. I've not seen one up there, just wondering if I've missed...
Believe it or not, the original four batteries in our Mobile Suites fifth wheel seem to finally be getting weak after 8 whole years of ownership. I've seen comments here on the forums that when replacing batteries, one needs to "tune" the converter (in our case a SW-3000 Xantrex inverter/converter...
Okay guys and gals. I have decided to go with a roof mount system instead of ground thanks to the responses ( Sushi, Larry) on this site but have another question: I will have four 100w panels on the roof. I want to run them in series/parallal (sp?) configuration. Three of the panels will fit side-by-sid...

I have a small cargo van conversion and am wanting to install two solar panels on the roof. I'm okay with mounting the panels, etc. What I'm worried about is the excess wire under the panels, once hooked up seems to be unavoidable. I will be hooking the panels up in series but am concerned about the excess...
After trying for the last 2 Spring/Summer seasons to sell our house, this year we finally have a buyer! Third times a charm! We are 2 weeks from closing the sale and we thought we were getting rid of things for some time. In this home stretch we realize we didn’t get rid of nearly enough! Downsizing from...
