Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Ron and I just started full timing July 1, 2013. Here's my blog that started with the selling of our house. Hope you enjoy and if you are in our area, please let us know! www.lifeinarv.blogspot.com Liz
At Sam's Club and I'm sure other retail outlets do not buy a product labeled OMG Unless you want to become addicted.... I thought Cronuts were great but this OMG is unbelievably good. It's graham crackers, but it is also made with toffee and diced almonds, all which are covered in milk and dark chocolat...
I know that this is an open ended question but...I am in the market for a Class A RV 30-34 ft GAS. Does anyone have any suggestions on manufactures reputation as far as quality is concerned. This will be our first RV and will be used. I am looking for something under 50k miles. Here is what I have seen and...
One thing I like about diesel pushers is that they can be had with an automatic generator start feature. Onan makes one called the Energy Command 30, wireless control panel for Onan RV generators. Do any of you have any experience with this product? I will as on a couple of forums to see if I can get a littl...
Hi, We haven't been on the forum for sometime as life has thrown us some curves. But the FT RVing is about to start. We got an offer on our house this week and are waiting to hear a date for the inspection. The closing is set for June 2nd as long as all goes well. Our house was on the market for 11 days and we g...
Well I'm doing just that. Doing a little preventative maintenance on the coach. Replace the air-bags (old ones starting to show signs of slight cracking). Replace the old Bilstein shocks. One huge problem with the Spartan IFS is the cracking and deteriorating of the ball joint boots. To top it off th...
Thought I would share what has become a "catch phrase" for us and a great way of defusing frustration as we've adpated to a much smaller kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, etc. over the past 10 months. We have a habit of both trying to do something in the exact same area of our RV at the p...
I ordered a Lifestyle 36FW 2 months ago, Thursday I go to pick it up! looking forward to spending alot of time in it. I have a plan to retire in 10 years and this will be my home.
Has anyone who has sold their house ever had a problem that it fell through before the closing date, and if so, for what reason? My realtor is putting such fear and worry into me and filling me up with so much anxiety. Almost every day she has another horror story to tell me. Before the inspection she was...
Our 2005 GMC Sierra Diesel Dually (with two years left on the extended warranty) is starting to overheat on steep upgrades. It's not done this before and if I gear down and keep the RPM's between 2,000 and 2500 it's still sending temerature warnings on our Banks electronic engine braking system. This...
I've been designing websites since 1996 and plan to continue my career going forward to support our full time RV lifestyle. If you were thinking about getting a website for your RV travels or business I would love the opportunity to work with you! Thanks, Dan www.websitedesignsbydan.com
I am about 10 years from going fulltiming but check local craigslist RV section for the heck of it. Link below to an older RV that would fit the bill for me I think. And no this not my RV I am trying to sell. Just find it interesting that there some older models still in good shape that don't cost a fortune. Hop...
Hi All, A lot going on this year for me. Turned 30, happily single again, graduating in 1 month with a master's degree, and beginning a new career in eastern WA (currently in CO). I am in the process of selling my house, but have already splurged on a new truck (the RAM 1500 ecodiesel) and a new 2013 22FBS...
We may have a week to stay in the area and wonder what your favorite park is and why. We like full hookups with 50 amp, no need for wifi, tv, playground or dog area. we like a nice view, a bit of shade and a bit of privacy on level ground. we quite like fishing villages and working marinas and beaches, thoug...
Some of you may be interested in this notice from the manufacturer. "Dear friends. Recently we have experienced an abnormally high rate of failure with respect to the small lenses that cover the PIR sensor on either side of the Smart Light 1000. We traced the failures back to a container we recei...
The question I have to my RV-Dreams family, why do I not have the calling to see my family like my wife. My wife has to see our son, his wife, 4 grand kids and mom about 2 to 4 times a month 70 miles away, I see them maybe once every 2 months, I have not seen my mom, sister, or brother in over a year 120 miles away, I d...
Hello everyone!! While I am not new to full time rv lifestyle, I am new to this site My husband and I purchased a 2013 Silverado by Bighorn in October of 2012 and set off for Elk City, Ok to build a gas plant (my husband is a construction manager for a company out of Tulsa, OK but we actually moved from Cl...
Just wanted to share this tip again in case some have not tried this. As part of our winterizing process, I decided to pour vegetable oil into the gray and black water tanks and work the dump valves to lubricate them. Have done this before but had been a little over a year. I had forgotten what a differe...
I know this is a very normal phase and everyone here has gone through this. So I appreciate your advice and encouragement. We're getting down to the wire now and I think it's only now beginning to sink in that WE'RE REALLY DOING THIS!!! A dream we've had for the past 30 years and have been actively pursu...
Heard on the new 16 dead so far. Hope no one we know. That's the part of the weather I don't care for down South. Our harsh winters seem to be small potatoes when it comes to tragedies like tornadoes. Up here we are getting more tornadoes more frequently than the old days. Not sure if something with climate...
We all got together last night...except for Cori and Greg and Deb and Steve (who are both trying to get her through the crazy weather and were sorely missed) and it was absolutely fantastic. Talking face to face with people doing the exact same thing at the exact same time was amazing. Thanks to Guy and S...
Hello All, I'm trying to get an answer to something that should be simple. I am trying to estimate our future federal tax burden to see if we can retire or not. But in order to anticipate our NET income (upon which we will live) I need to be able to figure out how much of our GROSS income will be misappropri...
I looked up Weather Radio and saw some posts about it, but they were 3ish years or older. So I was wondering what you all use to keep track of, stay ahead of, and just montier the weather. We have our Smaprt Phone which I know will not always work. And I can remember some vacations in the early 2000's that...
Just like there are pre and post check lists when purchasing your RV and checklists for packing up the RV is there a list somewhere on these boards for an exit plan to full timing? We have the RV, the truck the desire etc. We have decided it is time to put into place an exit plan to leave our jobs, first prior...
Does anyone who sells at flea markets or street fairs that are outdoors require electricity and when it's not available (which it usually isn't), what do you do? Do you have a small, portable, quiet generator?
Not the day we leave, but we are picking up our new to us travel trailer! Yay. I must admit I am a bit nervous about the drive home, our previous rv was a 10' pop up. The trailer is 31 ft. But we have brought along our buddy who hauls Jaycos for a living to coach us along on our 1st trip back home.
My husband & I are looking to sale our RV Membership. $4k or any reasonable offer, to purchase ownership in Rushmore Shadows in the Black Hills of South Dakota. You will also have full access to Hidden Bluffs in Spring Grove, MN. After your initial investment your only expense is an annual main...
We have been toying with the idea of an RV lifestyle ever since my husband returned from Vietnam in the 70s; his plan was to modify a van and travel our great country. That didn't happen and, well, life ensued. Yet the idea still simmered on the back burner, and the research and planning were turned up s...
