Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Looks good on the website, but oh man---expensive! That's been the only thing keeping us away. There was another in MA too, I'll post as soon as I remember the name. We loved it there and then it was nominated, I think in 2012 for campground of the year and the prices skyrocketed so we haven't been back (la...
So yesterday we arrived at our campground after getting our coach (borrowing Terry's word here) out of the body shop and a certain someone dropped a set keys down our Techma toilet. Jesse knew if we flushed it they might kill the Macerator feature. After 3 hours and borrowing a shorter ratchet from a ni...
Does anyone have information on the advantages/disadvantages of internal surge protection vs external. I understand the possibility of theft, I thought I would use one of the locking devices. We now have our new Keystone Alpine 3010RE and want to get this protection added. Any feedback will be gr...
I am so excited to be able to attend the RV-Dreams Spring Rally! Owning an RV and traveling our Country is on my Bucket List. Now that I am retired, I am ready (I think). I am looking forward to meeting other seasoned RVers! I retired in 2008 and since then I have taken classes; art, pottery, stained gl...
We will be leaving our cureent location in TX on June 8 and head to Alaska. Our plan is first to visit the Oregon and Washington coast. Coming up I5 are we best driving route 20 to 101 or Rt 299 to 101 in northern Ca? We drive a F350 dually pulling a 39 ft fifth wheel. Thanks.
I will retire in one year!!! Good Lord willing we will sell out and hit the road sometime next summer (2015). my wife and I have a fifth wheel and a truck and are looking forward the the freedom we hear so many of you talk about. The most difficult part will be leaving our church and church family, but believ...
For the benefit of those that may have to deal with tornadoes, I heard some information tonight that could give everyone some surprising hope.A study has just been completed here in the Oklahoma City area that were related to the tornadoes that hit Moore, Oklahoma last year. Moore is just south of Ok...
We like the idea of boondocking for moderate stretches and thus we are looking into a future install of solar equipment. My guess is that a 600-800 watt system with 4 panels, 4 AGM batteries and all recommended electronics and hardware will add about 600 lbs to the rig net net after removal of any not re...
Hi Fellow RV's!! Well we did our first Snowbird winter Nov 13-Apr 15th.. I had a little problem with the ticker before we left in Nov and spent some time in Boston Va Hospital. Glad we were not in Maine for the winter...Heard it was brutal. Fact is we are still running the pellet stove for a couples hours m...
I recently purchased a Coachmen Freedom Express LTZ 19 footer. I wanted a small-ish rig but one with a real bed, which it has, a queen. After hanging out it it for a couple of weeks I'm making some changes...and will gain a livingroom.First I nixed the supplied QN mattress -as it is much less than comf...
Good afternoon. We really enjoy looking through this forum and website, there's so much great reading. My wife and I are still a few years away from full on retirement, but we have begun the process of researching the RV lifestyle. We attended the Good Sam Rally and Hershey show last year and spoke with...
Does anyone know of free websites so I can figure out what size truck I need to purchase? There is just so much information I don't know where to start. And then how about websites to compare Fords vs Dodge vs GMC?
Trace had a good idea a couple of weeks ago. She requested a thread so we could keep up with the class of 2014. This can help us keep up and support each other in our new adventures. We sold our home on 2/27 and have been to Livingston to set up our mail service and are currently at Atlanta State Park in TX. ...
We have previously fulltimed in several sizes of RVs, the largest was a 34' 5r, others in the 30' range. We now have a 27' 5r with the floor plan I like best but with no basement storage. One storage bin under the dinette bench opens to the outside and my DH wants to use it for hoses, etc. My original idea was...
Well, we're trying to do our due diligence and are researching everything from budgeting of funds available to health insurance, etc.. My biggest worry is that I will be too old when we are able to start. There is a five year difference between myself and hubby and he will not be eligible for SS until he...
We are John and Carol from Sacramento, CA. I am 67 and John is 64. We bought a Holiday Rambler Presidential 5th wheel in 2003 with the intention of living and traveling in it while I worked as a travel nurse. As fate often changes our plans, we had to come off the road after several years. I was diagnose...
We ordered our Open Range 386 FLR (front living room model) without one of the couches so Lee could put in a work desk for me. It generated a lot of interest at the rally so I asked him to type up the specifics of how he did it. Cheryl was interested so I thought I would throw it out there for others who want a l...
Hi my name is Nancy and I am presently living in Pleasant Prairie Wi (between Milwaukee & Chicago). I purchased a Carriage Fifth Wheel in Oct 2013 and it is currently in storage. I am downsizing/purging and have my mobile home on the market but it will be a tough sell. Once the MH sells I can pay o...
Sold the sleeper sofa and one out of the two recliners to another full timer in the RV park where we are for 2 weeks, what a blessing! Found and had delivered our new loveseat today and re-arranged (5 times) before we found what we think is the right configuration for a work space for Dale and eliminating...
Just wondering if anyone will be at the Goshen Escapade Rally next week? I've been cleared by the docs to go so will be flying up on Sunday. Would love to see some of my RV-Dreams Internet friends in person. I'll be at the Bentsen Palm booth -- or maybe it's the Retama Village booth -- not sure how we are...

Having never camped on the east coast we're looking for any ideas of back roads and places not to miss while driving from Raleigh, NC up the east coast to Maine then over to the Finger Lakes area of NY. Before heading south for the Fall colors. We have a 32 Class A with toad, would hope to avoid freeways and...
We are finally getting our rig in order and getting ready for a weekend soon...still discovering things that need minor repairs. I did find two almost new jack stands in a storage compartment. What would I use them for? I have roadside, etc. Idea's on what the former owners used them for?
The DW and I have been discussing doing this for about 6 months. It was her idea, but I had a lot of questions. My main concern was how to get mail, bank, etc. while on the road and with no permanent address. We did find a UPS mail service close by (we live in SE Louisiana) that we will use to start off with. ...

We are currently in Middlebury, IN and would like to go visit where the Lambright Comfort Chairs are made. I realize these have been mentioned previously on the forum, but would like any new, fresh, updated information/ideas. All comments/pointers are welcomed. Time is of the essence as we have...
So today at lunch break at the Rally we came back to our rig and our sweet neighbors said,"Please we're not being nosy but was that black there on the front of the rig?" Um, noooo. Looks like something shorted out. We had read last fall that there was an issue on a few 2013 Trilogy's with the LED d...
We were at an RV rally for SOITC (Suites Owners International Travel Club) in Amarillo a couple of weeks ago. Rolling Retreats out of Elk City was sponsoring the rally and Slade and Alicia gave a couple of seminars. In Slade's seminar, he touched on maintenance items and options for new or replacing...
