Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Seasons Greetings! Bill & I have been full-timers since Aug 2014 and we’ve put together a post with some great ideas you might pass along to friends and family who are looking for a gift for you! Check it out! https://bkamericanodyssey.com/...
My husband, Tom, and I are seriously considering the full-time lifestyle. We toyed with the idea of full-timing a few years ago and weren't quite ready. In the meantime, I retired at 53, moved to a 55+ community in SW Florida, evacuated for Hurricane Irma four months after moving. We purchased a sm...
Any good outlets for finding a toad? We are switching back to a class A and I can't decide if I want to use a tow dolly or try to find a vehicle already set up for flat towing. I don't want to travel hundreds of miles to find a toad, so something in the Seattle/Portland neck of the woods is preferred.
G'day all:I came across a passing reference to a possible limit value in the Energy Management System software for maximum current or power draw that caught my attention. I can't remember which forum I found this on, but it raised a very interesting point. The writer mentioned something abou...
Not been checking on this website for a while until recently, as it had gone rather quiet on both the forum and daily write ups, a virus lost all my top sites which this was one of and ........ Anyway's so the story goes, but for some strange reason tonight decided to click on the FAQ's and Holy Guacamole H...

Hello everyone. I recently joined the community because I've been planning to go full-time in the next 3 years. I have my plans ready but I need more knowledge and ideas to make everything concrete. I'm currently saving up and I'm really excited to fulfill this goal of mine. - Clariden
Today we lost our wonderful 16 year old traveling cat, Evita. She loved exploring new places and came running to greet people who came to our RV. We will miss her and have a big hole in our hearts.
A couple of months ago I went to the Remco web site and it said I could tow the above-mentioned vehicle. Well today I decided to confirm that with the Ford owner's manual and it said I couldn't. Does anyone know why by any chance. I can understand why I can't tow an automatic due to lubrication issues w...
We are in the St Petersburg area and will be heading to southwest FL. Going by way of this bridge is the shortest route, we are travelling in a motorhome w toad. FWIW, I have gone across the new Tappen Zee bridge. Just looking for others' experience, we arrived by I 275 and came across that part of Tampa Bay...
We are coming up on our one year FT anniversary, since we have paid till then, I calculated our average nightly cost for a site. Personally all of the other costs of life are so variable, and others post down to the dollar budgets. But this seems to be of interest to most, since it's the biggest expense one...
Hey Everyone,I was contacted yesterday by a physician in Seattle that says he has a weird side-hobby of renting out his Verizon unlimited data lines. He has had a line open up and asked if anyone here might be interested. It's $140 per month and I know nothing else about this fellow. But I will provid...
In my old age, I've become terribly interested in photography; but, I find I don't have even the elementary skills necessary to be good at this. I greatly admire the beautiful pictures many of you post on your blogs and so I'd like to pick your brains..so to speak...about some things. I already have a...
So what does an old man do with his time after retirement? Our Winters in Mexico leave me with extra time. There is only so much time that can be spent eating fresh shrimp and listening to great live music. I needed a hobby to fill my days in the sun. I joined the "Women's Painting Group" as their token ma...
RAM has just unveiled their new 3500.... impressive specs upto 400 HP and 1000 ft lbs of torque. They upped towing to 35K and payload slightly to 5600 lbs(4x4CCDRW w/aisin tranny), not that most people will ever need that much capacity, but heh more ability should mean less strain on the components fo...
Even though the State of Michigan seems to think I can tow a 15,000# trailer without any brakes I don't think it's a good idea and I'm not too sure about other states accepting my "geez I didn't know" excuse. With that in mind, I've been looking at braking systems. Since I don't plan on changing toads ve...
So I have heard here, along with some other places, that there are campgrounds that don't allow RVs over 10 years old in their campgrounds. I know that there are variances between campgrounds, but in general are these rules strictly enforced or are they used to keep the so-called "undesirables" out...
My husband and I were fulltimers for 8 years. We started in 2009 but were stationary that year due to still being employed. We retired and hit the road in February 2010. We came off the road fulltime in December 2016 when we bought a house. Below are things to think about..... from our experience. ...
Does anyone currently make a full-size fiberglass travel trailer? There are lots of small ones (Casita, Egg Camper, Escape, Oliver, Scamp) but I don't see any full-size ones. Some years ago someone (Keystone?) made one that looked a lot like an Airstream, even to being painted grey (close enough to...
I don't normally post a link just to a blog update but this one take you to our yearly analysis after 6 years on the road so I thought some might be interested. https://wp.me/p2Dund-3PB
was just curious if anyone has ever tried a 110 tankless water heater as a preheater to the gas/electric hot water heater in your rv. Some in my family like to take a long hot shower and the current heater can't keep up. I was wondering if putting in a 110 tankless electric that hooks to the 110 15amp on th...
Long time member here although I haven't posted much lately. I own a Rexhall Aerbus but will be selling it and have just ordered a Capri Maverick which I will be picking up in the Spring. I ordered a t.v. with and it does come with an antenna but I am not sure how strong it is. Which HDTV antennas do you think a...
After 7 years the seal in our toilet is leaking a bit and the bowl drains. Before I get a repair guy to rebuild it...thought I might try lubricating the rubber seal with something...the seal doesn’t appear torn or falling apart. Whats the best thing to use...Vaseline, dielectric silicone grease, or...
We're glad this didn't happen on a dark, rainy night in an unfamiliar campground. The cargo door handle (pot metal) made by TriMark broke on a jammed, side-swing power cord bay door, making opening the door nearly impossible. A motorhome mgfr phone tech suggested "getting a putty knife and prying th...
