Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

What an Old Man Does to Fill His Spare Time.

So what does an old man do with his time after retirement?  Our Winters in Mexico leave me with extra time.  There is only so much time that can be spent eating fresh shrimp and listening to great live music.  I needed a hobby to fill my days in the sun.

I joined the "Women's Painting Group" as their token male.  They are a fun group of ladies.  After a few years they ignore me and will talk about anything with me just sitting there quietly.  Sometimes following an interesting subject one of them will turn to me and give me a simple apology for the discussion that just happened.  I smile and nod my head and go back to painting.

Who would have thought I could paint?  Not bad for an old man.

Outstanding! Heck, I can’t get past doing a stick man and even that’s questionable.

Good job, Russ.

I grew up at the knees of a woman that taught herself to paint with oil paint.  She started out just doing it for fun and to kill time as she raised me.  After a while, others saw her paintings and she started bartering with them with her paintings.  Many years later, after she and Dad divorced, she started teaching painting.  While I don't have the talent to paint, what I did learn from her, unknowingly at the time, was how to compose with my photography.

Fortunately, I've got a fair idea of what looks good, and long ago, I stated that everyone could be an art critic.  If one saw a piece of art that they liked and would put in their home, then they were a critic.

I think a lot of critics here will say that you did good.

Ya know you could have taken up fishing, the result wouldn't have looked as good. Nice work!

Those are beautiful! The only problem with painting is having a place to display them in your RV!

When I saw the heading “what an old man does to fill his spare time” I thought maybe there’s something I can do. Image my disappointment when I saw what Russ had done.
Really nice work!

Great work, But when I retired I made myself a Promise that I wasn't going to do anything. Why retire if you are going to continue working. and that is what I do, Nothing

I would like to thank you all for the kind comments on my paintings.  It's fun to discover new talents in retirement.

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is coming up soon.  I get to paint us up for this fun celebration in Mazatlan.

Never looked better than being dead in October.

Life is good.
