Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Our Spring & Summer plans to visit Alaska hit a bump in the road just before leaving for the North. Following a bunch of tests and scans I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma - Stage 4 (throughout my body). I'm in chemo for the next four months so RV'ing is on hold for now. We have just entered o...
We have a verbal deal on a 2018 Winnebago Horizon 40A and so are driving to Hammond, Louisiana tomorrow to check it out on Friday, test drive, etc. We'll be leaving here tomorrow as soon as Jeff gets everything running at work -- technically not a holiday for him since he works in Mexico. We agreed on a...
Heading east from Foster area on Tuesday to Bend…US-20 is our planned route. Back in 15 there was some discussion that although there are passes it's certainly worthy for RVs. In Foster there are some signs heading east that say 53 foot trailers and doubles over 75 are prohibited…and googling says th...
We are looking to add an auxiliary fuel tank to the bed of our Ram 3500. Having read some older posts on this subject, it seems some tanks are better quality than others. We were looking at a Northern Tools 32 gallon tank that fits the dimensions of our bed under the rolling bed cover. Are there any othe...
We (wife and I, no pets) will be leaving Florida July 8th for a four month trip in our 27 ft. TT. We have taken two month and a six month trips within the last few years, so aren't rookies, but haven't RV'd in the eastern part of the US and Canada before. Our itinerary: Florida to Buffalo, NY through Pittsb...
Hello Everyone !Just a quick intro. Have a couple of years left to work and would like to go full-time. But, I'm afraid at the end of the day we are too attached to our stick and brick to permanently leave it. So most likely will take month long trips returning to N Louisiana (5 miles north of I 20) to rest...
Well my dad passed away recently and my brother and I have a plan for liquidating estate over the next few months. I'll also use the time to continue to lighten my load of "stuff" and join you all at a full-timer. I'm watching the RV-Dreams site so I can register for the next educational rally. I'm work...

Hi All!My husband and I have been dreaming of spending time traveling the country in our own “prairie schooner”!After much research, both at RV shows and on line we decided that a 5th wheeler would be the best choice for us. My husband, Mike, retired 4 years ago and I have 190 workdays left.Last mont...
This is my first post and I am confused as to how this works. I hope I can find whatever page if need to get responses. I am a "gonna be" RVer. I've been retired since 14' and have decided to try RVing, and travel part of the year. I am currently in San Diego and am looking for a used (2007-2012) Class C (mayb...
I just received our insurance renewal for our 5th wheel and was surprised by the 19.2% increase from Safeco through Miller Insurance. I am wondering if others have experienced the same thing? I have a call into Miller to discuss other options. Would love to hear about any recent experiences from f...
I'm looking to get a sprinter based rv and use my generator all the time. I can't have an LPG generator because I would need to fill it up constantly and I find LPG refills to be a bit of a pain. I want to have a diesel generator and that would probably have added reliability. My concern is that the LPG gener...

My dad passed away recently and I'll be traveling more and will need to tow an approximately 20-24 enclosed trailer containing my Spyder and business material. In my searching on RV Trader I found this: https://www....

Has anyone considered a Smart car as a toad? It would certainly be light-weight. But I know that not every car can be outfitted with a tow-bar. I've just started considering something like this and I like the prices of them. It would be sufficient for any run-about occasions I'd have.
After 7 years of full time traveling and living, we have decided to turn in the keys. We've decided to build a house where George and I and my Mom can live together. As she ages, we're finding the need to be with her more full time. Our Vilano is only 2 years old, and packed with extras. We're asking $70,000 f...
On our last leg, our refrigerator (Samsung residential) tipped out about a foot. This was due to it rocking past a vertical board at the back of the refrigerator, which was supposed to prevent this. However, once it happened (the overlap between the vertical board and back of fridge was too small),...
We've been full-time for nearly five years now and have stayed in all sorts of campgrounds. In that time we have never had people walk through our campsite - until yesterday. Two people walked through our site, one of them on the paved area. This morning I moved the car so it partially overlaps the motor...

Thought I'd share a "real life" experience using the CoachNet Discount Tire service. Howard wrote about this in his blog several months ago and I was interested, knowing that after we had an alignment completed in February after an issue with our shackles, we'd most likely need to consider tire repl...
Howard has given us all permission to us this site as a place to share our planning, experience and knowledge for a trip to Alaska in the Summer of 2019.
