Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Campground etiquette

We've been full-time for nearly five years now and have stayed in all sorts of campgrounds. In that time we have never had people walk through our campsite - until yesterday. Two people walked through our site, one of them on the paved area. This morning I moved the car so it partially overlaps the motorhome, and someone walked between the car and the coach! I went out and told her that our site isn't a pathway. When she came back a few minutes later she walked through the neighboring site and made a point of telling me that that site was part of her group. I put a small stepstool between the car and the coach, and there is a sign on the windshield of the car that says "This campsite is not a path. Please use the walkway." Another copy of that sign is facing the rear of our site, propped up on the picnic table.

I've talked to both a ranger and the campground host. Both agree that what I've done is about all that can be done. The signs seem to be working, though. While I was out chewing the fat with the host Jo Ann noticed two people heading for our site. When they saw the sign on the windshield they stopped, read it, and went elsewhere. The host said that the weekends here are filled with groups who have been coming here for years, and seem to think that everyone in the park is part of their group.

We have had it happen a small hand full of times in our 6 1/2 years of fulltime and we just chuckle and shake our heads. It did happen again this morning, first time in a very long time but no big surprise over a holiday weekend. And this guy was probably in his 30's.

I just chalk it up to vagaries of full timing. Because we are out all the time compared to the “weekend” camper we will experience this more often in my opinion. Doesn’t make it right, but it is what it is and due to the fact isn’t an every day occurrence I refuse to let it upset me. Just my take.

You could also set-up a bear fence if it bothers you that much. That should nip it in the bud.

I'll bet if you ran a single wire and hung a few "Electric fence warning" signs on it you wouldn't have to buy one of these.
