Panels with photovoltaic cells for houses

Panels with photovoltaic cells (PV) absorb sunlight and convert it to direct current (DC) electricity. Have anyone installed such panels for their roof? How was the experience? Are you pleased with such an alternative electricity? How much did you save money?

None on my home. TT yes. Didn't save any money. They work great and quietly.
