Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Okie Newcomer to Forum

Good day to all.

Please bear with me as this is my first time of posting at RV Dreams.  I'm also new to posting on forums, enough so that I don't know yet how to get some things, like avatars, to work for me.

Since our names are almost generic for gender, let me explain that I am Terry and my wife's name is Jo.  So if by some extremely remote chance that someone talks of us (rather than writing), remember that Jo is without an "e" in her name.

We live in the Oklahoma City area and are about 6 years away from retirement.  We have out house up for sale and have been researching for both campers and towing units.  At present, we are interested in a Doubletree 38 foot Mobile Suites camper and a Freightliner SportChassis MDT.

At present, we own a 26 foot Rockwood fiver and a Ford F250, with which we like to go camping in Colorado a lot.  Love the mountains, but there is beauty everywhere.  And since I am a "serious, amateur photographer", I love taking picture of all of God's wonders of nature and wildlife.

With a little luck, our home will sell soon.  Then we will order our units with the plans on living in the camper until we retire, giving us the opportunity to get both units paid off.  Then shortly after retirement, we'll hit the road.

I look forward to meeting a lot of like minded people, both online and someday, in person.

Welcome to the forum and I have sent you a private message. We have an Elite Suites and love it. You are looking  at the right tow vechicle if and when you do get one. Good Luck in selling the sticks and bricks.

Welcome! This is a great place to get all kinds of information on fulltiming and just about everything else. We are like a family here and are glad that you have decided to join us. My husband and I are from Southeast Kansas and we are trying to get our house ready to put on the market so that we can become fulltimers soon. We are still in the process of sorting through all the "stuff" that we have accumulated. Good Luck with the sale of your home!  Again, Welcome to this great site!

Welcome to you both. Sherri and I have been fulltiming for 2 years now and really enjoy living in our 5th wheel. We are both still working...but will retire... good Lord willing in 7 months. We sold our house last month and are in the process of paying all our bills off. It is such a great feeling not owing anyone for anything. We will not be on the upper end of the fulltimer retirement Totem pole but I am sure our adventures will be as full of excitement as those on the top. LOL. I hope that your house sells soon and you are able to enjoy this wonderful life style. If you have any questions this is the forum to go to. All the folks here are so friendly and willing to help answer those tuff questions. If we don't have the answer we can tell you where to find out. Post often and help us become the best forum on the WEB.

Welcome Terry and Jo,

We too are awaiting the sale of our home.
We have received so many great ideas and help on this forum from the very beginning, and it all helped us to go ahead and decide to buy our RV and put the house on the market, and go for it. Everything from MH's...Toads...even Howard giving  advice on insurance and many other  topics. Arlene was down a  little bit and unsure of giving up "stuff" and Linda  really  helped her out there.
Now she is ready to just leave it all to get out on the  road fulltime. My.....how times change! Women!!!! wink
My point is ...do not hesitate to ask anything on here as the folks are the best.
We asked so many questions, and everyone was  very nice and very patient with us.
You made a wise choice choosing RV-Dreams.
Good luck selling your house, and choosing your new RV.

Larry and Arlene

Welcome Terry and Jo,
In my opinion you have found the most helpful family of people on the internet. There is allot of reading to do on this site, if you enjoy reading. Howard and Linda have put their entire RV life in a helpful format. Just about anything RV fulltiming related can be found here. We plan on retiring in 2009 and fulltime in our 36TK3 Mobile Suite. Hope to meet you down the road.

Stay Safe

From one Okie to another! I grew up in Sulphur.  Bob and I have been fulltiming since Nov 2007.  We knew nothing about this lifestyle.  We met Howard and Linda in 2005 and ask "what is a fifth wheel"?  The rest is history.

Everyone is right - this is the place to get all your answers!  When you get into a conversation in a park and RV-Dreams come up - you are instantly a family member.

They are the pied pipers of RVing!  We will be at Council Road RV park Sept. 15-22 when we leave for Sulphur (my 50th high school reunion).  Bob's not from OK but he's a keeper.  Maybe we'll see you in OKC.

Welcome from a neighbor. We live in San Antonio.
This is the first forum we have ever joined and all the process is new to us too.
I do wish there was a spell check!!!!!!    We can learn together.

We are waiting until I can retire, husband is already retired. He spend 20 + in the Air Force as a photographer, this was before digital, and many more years as an audio editor.

We haven't completely decided 5th or MH. It seems as if the Doubletree...Mobile Suite 5th wheel units are very popular. They must be rated as a good fulltime unit.

Hope you sell your house quickly and things fall into place for you.

Tom and Debbie

Welcome Terry and Jo:

Another Okie wants to let you know that you will find no "snobs" here.  We all get along and respect others opinions.

Having lived most of our lives in Norman Oklahoma, I feel like we were just next door neighbors.  Having been born in Sulphur and lived there until I was 9 years old, I feel a kindred to some other Okies on this forum too.  It truly is a small world!
