Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I'd like to wish everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day. Please take a moment to remember all the soldiers who gave their time and lives for our great country. Hope you enjoy this little explanation of the Pledge of Allegiance. https://www.brownielocks.com/RedSkeltonPOA.html Jim and Linda
Hi all. We are retired military that were going to start full-time two years ago but hubby had some medical issues to take care of so now we are planning on next year. Joined the forum to meet others and learn.
What if I do not want to use my Good Sam credit card at Pilot/Flying J? Has anyone tried scanning your membership card to get the gas discount??? I know...dumb question!
We have found some city Campgrounds that were free or very inexpensive. Very nice and some with full hook ups. Here is a link to finding some. www.freecampsites.net -- Edited by Marblecreek on Monday 29th of May 2017 10:22:46 AM
A couple of years ago we bought several strings of warm white outdoor LED lights (rope lights) to put on the ground around our coach. Several sections of each string have now quit working, so I'm thinking that the whole mess needs to be replaced. Suggestions?
Like many other companies, Forest River has quite a lineup of names. Unfortunately, their website give little indication as to which are at the low end and which are at the high end of their lineup. We're full-timers and not interested in anything but a high quality coach. Which, if any, FR lines shoul...
My parents are retiring in a year and they couldn't be more excited. They plan on getting an RV to finally spend some time traveling around the country. The only problem is my father has a heart condition. I'm worried about my father having a heart attack or going into Sudden Cardiac Arrest on the RV and...
Since Saskatchewan is not exactly a winter RVing Mecca, what large-scale campgrounds we have tend to be 200-250 sites, and operated by the provincial government. These are well-advertised and widely-known. However, there are also hundreds of small campgrounds scattered across the province, a...
I thought I'd mention this fifth wheel brand. Again, I'm currently a "gonna be" (sometime after October) full timer. I'd be by myself with my cat. I was at a local RV show last weekend, and saw the Cedar Creek fifth wheel's. Subjectively, they looked good. The floor plan looked interesting (the bat...
Hello everyone, my name is Alan Bromley, and I go by "Captain Happy" on a lot of forums. I kind of found this forum while I was looking for some info on another subject. When I first started thinking about this lifestyle I found a Web Site called RV-Dreams which by the way was a few years ago. Never even th...
So we just purchased two new Interstate 6 volt golf cart batteries. They are wired together for 12 volts. We are doing more and more boondocking and would like extend our stays.
We are thinking of getting a Honda 2000 generator to help in that. My question is what type of charger is recommended so that w...
Our current circumstances are that we will need to tow our car on a dolly (dollie ? ) behind our MH. Looking for advice as to which one to get, what about brakes, and tips on usage Thanks, Bill
In my research I found very little actual vehicle weight numbers. This left me playing around with online calculators like http://rvtowcheck.com/rvtc_calculator.html somewhat guessing at what the actual weights would be. I would urge others to contribute their weights to this list. My wei...
I may have an opportunity for a traveling job with my boyfriend that would involve us moving every ten days and working long hours. He is looking for an RV now as he has been doing the job already and staying in hotels. The RV would be his preference. I already work long hours at my current job, so my cat is us...
Hello, All! I just joined up. I am a member of a number of forums, RV-related and non-RV-related. One should not put all his/her eggs in one basket, right? I am the author of The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan. Four months ago, I completed a 3-week cross-country trip from Los Angeles to Metropolis, I...
I not real good at placing imfo in the proper spot in this forum , just want to suggest to people that are looking for a unit , Myself and the Wife were looking for a fifth wheel for several years , on traveling around the western and middle states we looked for R V factories and did tours. We did about 4 tour's...
Can I (wife and me are the whole team) do full timing on $5,000 per month with no debt (truck and 5er paid for)? If so is there any wiggle room for savings?
Does anyone still use the bedspread that came with their rig? If not what did you change it too. I made a bad choice yesterday and washed (on gentle cycle) and dryed (on the lowest setting) the bedspread that came with our 5th wheel. Even tho it said dry clean only . The underside is a mess, it kinda me...
Hi; I'm Dave. I'm a (near) 62 year old single guy whose spent almost 40 years in the high end software development world. It turns out that I have a chance to retire in a bit less than six months; at the end of October. I'm really thinking about a transition to full time RV living. Right now I'm in a resea...
I have talked to two different people who have had a recent problem with their G114 tires. Interestingly, both were in DRV Mobile Suites. Both had the same failure ... tread worn out in the middle of the tire. One guy had it happen to him twice. That's a classic "overpressure for the load" wear patte...
Howard, I wish I would have asked you this at the Rally, last week, but I did not have all the facts yet. We have the residential fridge, which I have heard uses 15 amps to run. Also I read in another thread it takes 150 Amp-Hours to run ( I am assuming per day). My manufacturer installed Deka DP27 Marine D...
Hi,I'm getting closer to escaping Toronto at the end of October!I went up on the roof of my motorhome yesterday, and found that it's made out of some kind of sheet metal. The sheet met...
I know--we should be able to live on less. Til I pay my 900 a month for hospitalization, pay our real estate taxes of 3800. a year, pay for traveling 100 days a year, keep our house maintained, pay for gas, all our insurances(auto/life/ umbrella liability/2 cars/ a truck and a 5th wheel), donations, gi...
Hi everyone! I read online this morning that putting sage into a campfire might help repel bugs. Has anyone tried this? What are some other ways that you keep insects away from your camp site (preferably organic, natural ways but I am also open to other suggestions)? Thanks!
Greetings.....Just picked up our DRV Fullhouse and was curious what the brake setting should be on the integrated brake controller. There are 4 choices: Light Electric, Heavy Electric, Light Electric over Hydraulic and Heavy Electric over Hydraulic. I assume with a 24,000# 5th wheel that the cho...
I'm a wanna/gonna be...We originally planned to sell the house and store the stuff, and take off when we retired. But there's an old saying..."Man plans and God laughs." So two sets of parents needing help (one after another) and 16 years later. We are free as we decide to be. We love our home in Staunton...
