Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Anyone know of a carrier that will mount to the rear frame on a 2013 landmark 5th wheel. I want to mount a portable Honda generator, and store the fuel can there. It needs to hold 500-600 pounds. Will I need to first have a hitch welded to the frame?
We are looking at purchasing a 2014 Redwood 31SL. It is in very nice condition, looks like it was very well taken care of. We are wondering if anyone has and experience with this model, or Redwood in general. We plan on either full timing or at least long terming :) in it. This will be our first fifth wh...
Wall thickness – insulation and soundproofing? How thick – 3+”,R-15 batting, R-11 closed-cell rigid enough? Assume dual-pane windows. What is needed to stay comfortable (hot/cold) and not experiencing our neighbors sleeping habits?
I have been following many full time RV blogs for about 4 years now and so envy the people that can do this. I have been trying for that four year time to figure out how to make it work for me/us and quit frankly I am no closer now than I was four years ago. Well with the exception that I now own a truck and trail...
I am in my early 60s and will be retiring in the near future. Since I was in my late teens I always saw myself having a recreational vehicle of some sort and living in it once I retired. I started looking at Motor homes and 5th wheels awhile back and have yet to decide which way I want to go for full time living....
DH and I are getting ready to hit the road when most people are hanging it up. We are 75 and 84 and we plan to travel for a year to see if we can do it. If we can, and we like it, we will sell our house and become fulltimers. We figure we have to die sometime and we would just as soon do it while we are having fun, rathe...
Hello All, We have the Lippert auto system and it has stopped working as we were bringing the legs up to leave our campsite. The back and middle legs went up but the front are still down. The trailer is on the truck so we can't move our truck and we are blocking the campsite road. ARG! The relay to the pum...
My husband, Gustav, and I are very new to RV living and jumped into it with both feet full-time. We bought a 2008 Fleetwood Southwind 36D with low miles 11 April of this year. Immediately, we drove it (pulling our toad) about 90 miles to the location of our RVdrivingschool instructor's farm in western N...
We recently purchased a 5th wheel (Landmark) and intend to full time mid-2017. We are slowly looking at the accessories we will need - and we would like your thoughts and recommendations about air compressors. Do you recommend gas or electric - and why? Any information you can provide will be help...
I did a search and did not find a recent discussion on flow thru versus non-flow thru TPMS. I didn't look real hard so sorry if this has been discussed or is so obvious it doesn't warrent discusing. Currently I have a two axel TT pulled by SRW pick-up. Any pros or cons for either sensor? Steve
I'm considering buying a cheap used RV. So far I've only looked at on-line pictures in the 7 to 15 grand range. There seems to be a lot of good choices in the Phoenix area. I know nothing about buying an RV, and most of these ads all say their unit is clean, no leaks, runs great, everything works, etc. Sho...
The fifth wheel I am looking at has a listed UVW of 14,200, a hitch weight of 2,900, and a GVWR of 16,500. It has 2 7,000lb axles with G-rated tires. The trailer has a large amount of storage, both a pass through up front, plus possibly 10’ worth of pass through storage in the rear below the living area. I...
1 -- We have a Progressive LCHW50 with remote display hard wired into our fifth wheel and it has saved us a couple of times (open ground, low voltage issues). At our last stop, we had to connect to 30 amp service since 50 amp was not available. Checked the display and confirmed there were no electrical e...
I will soon be starting a six month tour of the US and Canada, and will be travelling in a Winnebago Sunstar which is quite big. While I will be on the major routes quite a lot, I also intend to take it off the beaten track. So I’m a little worried about bridges or underpasses with width and weight restricti...
We used to use Weather Underground where you could use their travel maps and find weather forecast along our route. Over a year ago, when they upgraded their app they broke that feature, that IMO was the best feature. Finally found a replacement!!Weather Route, allows you to put in start, end, aver...
Hi All - My wife and I are approaching retirement and we're thinking we kinda like the idea of getting an RV and traveling. We have so many questions that we're not sure where to start. Found this site today and think it's as good of a place as any. Hopefully we'll get a lot of info by reading through the po...
We were fortunate enough to find a little gem here off I-95 on the way back up to NC. Colleton S.P., S.C. For those of us with 35' or less its a nice spot. The Edisto river is here at the park and the ranger with transport you up river and you can float down back to CG. Just one problem we have yet to get our inflat...
Lola and I have researched many of Howard and Linda's suggestions and join workampers too. Absolutely amazed in all the responses to our many applications we placed. What really tickled us was with no experience and only our previous careers to use on our resumes, with most calls we receiv...
What an amazing time! We didn't even know what questions to ask, and they answered them all. We are preparing to retire by the first of next year and since we enjoy traveling we bought a small used c class 2 years ago to give us an idea of what RVing was like. WE LOVE IT!. Since returning home form the Rally, w...
This is probably a long shot, but does anybody have a dealer recommendation for us to get some minor warranty repair work done in New England? Prefer something near the Albany, NY area.
The first purchase that my new wife and I made in 1984 was a Mazda pickup and a 1955 Crown travel trailer. We rebuilt the trailer and used it for five years as we traveled around the Western United States. Since that time we have had almost every type of RV. We have been Full-timers and now own A Heartland Bi...
Generator starts. Engine starts. Have 110-volt power, but no 12-volt coach power. We have checked circuit breakers and battery connections. We read about a main breaker to the 12-volt system, but we don't know where that might be. Owner's manual is no help. Battery Disconnect Panel does not work....

Before I begin you should know I have a basic electricity knowledge (could wire a house) but get lost with electronics (have trouble setting up entertainment components). For 10 years fulltiming in 2 5th wheels, have used powered devices (crock pots, 1500 watt space heaters, toasters, hair dryer...
I hate to open up the tire pressure posts again, but I do not see my question posted on the forum.. I run Goodyear G 114's H rated tires on my 5th wheel. I have Dexter 9,000 lbs independent suspension axles. The max inflation is 125 psi cold. I am 99% certain that I am not overloaded. But, I have not weighed...

Hi everyone, Just looking for some additional assistance. Last fall after camping my black tank was accidentally left open, as you all know now I have a complete blockage. I have tried different chemicals, but I can't get any kind of wand in because there is an immediate 90 degree angle. Any ideas? Th...
