Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Wondering what size crock I should get for the RV??? I currently have the large 5 qt. but it's too big for 2 people. I'm thinking 2 or 3 qt. for 2 pieces of chicken or sm. pot roast or turkey breast for Thanksgiving??? What size is yours???
Hello to all my RV Friends, I am heading out on my trial run for fulltiming,a six month workamping trip. I am very excited, until I look at all the stuff I still need to purchase.I need to buy this stuff with very little money, so I figured cookware was a good investment. I have the crockpot now what kind of...
OK since you all assisted so well on the smoke detector situation here is my next dilema.........the refrigerator. We live in central Florida, where it is hot as blazes in July & August so I am wondering if this might be part of the situation but I am not sure. We are weekend campers only at this point...
We have a GE Profile micro-convection oven and both times i have used it I have been unhappy with the results. After reading the book I found out that the oven automatically lowered the temperature 25 degrees from what you set it at to adjust for the fact that it was cooking by convection. I had also com...
My wife and I look forward to the day we can live fulltime in an RV. We are currently working on our debt retirement. We hope to be able to have our fiver and truck paid for as well. Unfortunatley we will not have much invested to create an income once we get there. We don't need much to live on and we know th...
not sure where to post this... Can anyone give us some guidance...looking for a good mail forwarding service in SD? Considering changing our domicle. Thanks
I am searching for cabinet/drawer pads made of foam instead of felt or hard rubber. Our current stix/brix had them on all the cabinet doors when we moved in 5 years ago, and they are so much quieter than felt. They have a sticky back. I looked at Bed, Bath and Beyond, and an Ace Hardware, and have been s...
While dreaming of what life will be like on the road , my wife and i where discussing how different life will be. It occured to me that part of the transistion will be about getting comfortable with our new found freedom. For the last 30 years we have been getting pretty comfortable in the discomfort of ti...
I just came in from shoveling the FIRST foot of snow from our driveway. Yep, you read right...the first FOOT! We're having a major winter storm here in Colorado and it's supposed to continue snowing for the next 24 hours (it started about 18 hours ago) with at least another foot expected! As I was sho...
Those of you who are not going to be with family this thanksgiving, will you prepare a turkey in your RV? Our little ovens won't even fit the breast. I saw how you can roast your turkey in a trash can that was interesting. Deep frying is a bit expensive if you are buying all that Peanut oil for the sole purpos...
I love to crochet or knit dishcloths with the Sugar N Cream 100% cotton yarn. However, there is a big problem when laundering the dishcloths after using, in that the colors fade and become discolored very quickly. Does anyone know how to preserve the colors when actually laundering the dishcloths? C...

We are starting a financial course by Dave Ramsey. As we get closer to fulltiming we need to get our stuff in order. Should have done this years ago. My question is, has anyone here used this course? We have to start a budget, sell everything, sell one house and the list goes on....on....on. Way...

The obvious answer is, ARE YOU GOING TO BE IN COLD WEATHER? or are there other factors? Also any Fun Mover or Four Winds Class c owners on Dreamers, thanks...
I was wondering if those of you that are retired from the military and are fulltimers, did you retire from another career too. Or are you just doing it on your retirement pension? Hope that is not too personal of a question. How often do you stay in fam camps on military installations?
I just received my second order from PPL Motorhome Parts and just wanted to highlight what a great RV parts supplier they are. Each order has been handled quickly, I've received exactly what was ordered and my credit card charged exactly what was expected. Plus their prices seem to be about the low...

Hi Friends, I have tried and tried to set up a satellite manually and found myself mechanically declined.Instead of paying $2000 for permanent antenna to be installed, i am investigating the VU QUBE 2000.Has or does anyone use this satellite as thier primary antenna? Second I have always had Dire...
My hubby and I had listed our RV for sale and we had a nice couple come and look at the RV tonight. After showing them the rig, we got cold feet. We just couldn't stand the thought of parting with it. We had to call the couple and apologize profusely for wasting their time - fortunately they were very unde...
I'm sorry, but I must be missing something. Seriously, why would anyone want a rubber roof or an elastomeric roof instead of fiberglass? And why would you put one over a perfectly good fiberglass roof? IMHO, Fiberglass is vastly superior to rubber on a roof. Fiberglass is flexible, it doesn't te...
Curious to what would be considered the appropriate life expectancy for a fifth wheel unit as a full timer such as Howard & Linda? Currently looking at an Open Range fifth wheel and wanted to see how long most fulltimers keep their units if well maintained.
I'm not sure if this is the right area or not. I'm trying to decide what to do about the floors on our RV. I would like to rip them all out and put in cork tiles, but I read somewhere that you need carpet for the slides to work right. I have no idea if that's true or not. If not does the slide just go over the til...
It is a sad day here in northeast Florida...hubby and I decided to sell the RV. I am back working fulltime and Pierre is in the process of starting up a practice. We just don't think we'll be able to do much RVing in the next year or so, so it is time to say goodbye. If you know of anyone that is interested, he...
We finally got around to getting step covers for our rig. I was tired of tracking dirt into the trailer! After some searching online, I found the following site. Price was reasonable and I liked the look of the step covers - colors and the extra contrasting side strap... so I ordered four. http://ww...
Don't know if you remember us but we first met you at Denton Ferry in Arkansas and then again at Arches National Park campground when you were camphosts. We just bought a 39' 2006 Cambridge in July. We have some questions we hope you can help us with. The large back window is starting to fog up between t...
Is anyone else having a problem viewing the RV-Dream blog? My AVG software stops the connection with the warning of a possible virus. This has occurred the last two days. What's up with that????
Does anyone know where I could find a wooden handle bar, the kind you would hold onto when coming down the inside steps from the bedroom? Camping World does't have them. They only have the metal ones for the outside. Thanks, Lois
While we have been looking for some time and have had the house up for sale for over a year, we have always been in the position of backing out of the full-timing idea at any time. That is, until yesterday. We found a used 2008 Ford F450, King Ranch package, with 46000 miles and managed to get it for just over...
We started talking about traveling full time about 10 years ago. Five years later the topic got serious and a date to retire was set. In 2005 we purchased our Montana 5er and started counting the days. It seemed like an eternity. I will call December 31, 2009 freedom day and Sherry will retire Mar...
Hello to all, my name is Don (aka Sergeant Major). I have read blogs about people full-timing in RVs, on cruise ships, and in timeshares! Since the wife and I like all three types of living (travel), we plan on doing all three. I will be 50 and my wife will be 47 when we retire!!! We have purchased a 45 ft. Ne...
