Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We sat down and figured out a 2 week meal plan complete with a grocery list and posted it on our site. We even shopped the grocery list so we'd have a price for the items. Now keep in mind it's just a guideline and our tastes may differ from yours, but it may give you some ideas on meal planning while camping....
http://rvroadtrip.us/ You're invited to follow along with us as we lightheartedly document our journey. Our blog will take you through the preparation to go full time up to the day when the good Lord decides we're not going to travel anymore. So sit back and relax, grab an ice cold Coca-Cola and a slic...
The wife and I enjoy several hobbies that we are able to do while camping. We enjoy geocaching, waymarking, metal detecting and scooter riding. Click these links to see pictures of our geocaching and waymarking. We don't usually take the camera metal detecting so no real pictures of that, however w...
We own this cabin as a vacation rental. It's a beautiful little cabin on a deadend street in Gatlinburg, TN. A short walk to the Arts and Craft Community. If you have friends or relatives planning a trip to the Smoky Mountains please tell them about our cabin. We're not sure yet if we'll sell it when w...
Looking for overnight parks in the area around Sacramento heading to Bakersfield. And for parks around Bakersfield heading towards Arizona. This is our first trip south for the winter, we expect to be travelling through in late November or early December and are uncertain how full parks will be i...
Howard and Linda! How you two have grown to this! Incredible as I stumble on this Forum while in the middle of a million acres here near by Big Bend, Texas... and yes, I got in just in time to buy a bit of land at $200 an acre and get the Big Bend Telephone DSL intsall (2.1 mile trench) for $10!!! Our winter Home...
I recently signed up for Workamper News - it seems like a great resource for finding workamping positions. In this month's edition, there are many US Army Corp positions for which you can "bid". I've read many posts & some blogs about private campground workamping (which mostly seem...
Saying good-bye is the hardest thing. This morning's breakfast and good-byes had my eyes welled up to the point of embarrassment until I looked around, then I really lost it. I wasn't the only one crying. Who'd a thunk it? We just met these people a week ago. How did we get so close, so quick? The answer t...
We need your help on learning about trucks with which to tow a 5th wheel. We've been pretty much set on a motorhome and then we attended the rally! We learned a lot about the pros of a 5er and had many hours on the drive back to Colorado to waffle back and forth on which would be better for us. We're still undec...
I have a chance in a few weeks to start looking into improving the ventilation system on my trailer (http://CounterMoon.org) and I was wondering how much interest the topic might have. I remember RV ventilation mostly as "turn on the A/C or go outside", but isn't there a better way? And do...
OK - I'm going to try to be delicate here. We've had Jake since early August, and he's our first Silky Terrier. He's a great little guy and a fun addition to our little family. The vet declared him to be about 1 year old. Full of love and energy. We've been feeding him Eukanuba Adult since that was wh...
Hello My name is Chad and I am a wannabe! I'm 39, been considering an RV as a fulltime lifestyle for years and am about to take the plunge! I sort of live a vagabond lifestyle already. I'm a truck driver and have been for 16 years. I have nearly 2,000,000 miles in a truck and am ready to see what it's like in o...
Can anyone explain the purpose and use of the "Battery Disconnect Switch" in my fifth wheel? When should it be "on" and when should it be "off"? Thanks Al -- Edited by poweredbytheholyghost on Tuesday 13th of October 2009 08:39:46 PM
We have tried using our oven in our 5th wheel, it takes too long to preheat. I added a tile to even out the heat, still takes forever. I am not a fan of gas, so I bought a toaster oven to use. I would like to use the oven. Anyone else have problems with their oven????????????
At this year's rally there were so many great dishes and desserts at our pot luck. Please share your recipes with us. Here's mine: Chipotle-Mango BBQ ChickenMakes 2-4 servings (I had to adjust this of course)Ingredients*1 1/2 cups mango, peeled, pitted and roughly chopped3/4 cup fresh cilantro (...
I feel like i was at the rally, following the journal of Howard and Linda, along with the journals of other RV DREAMS members, i have been on the emotional ride for the past week. So my husband and I have finished our travels and have planted ourselves in northeast Florida. We will be looking for work and moving into a condo this week and then putting our RV in storage. I was wondering what we should do to the RV before storing it. I just saw a ****roach in the RV this morning. Is...
I have had my Auto/RV/Motorcycle insurance with Geico for the past 28 years and I have tried to insure my house with them in the past but Traveler's is their underwriter for homeowners and they are too high. So, I am not able to take advantage of the Auto/Home (muti-policy discount) through Geico. I hav...
My wife and I are currently liquidating all of our assets so that we can begin a new adventure in our lives as full time RVers. To that end we have decided to try to sell our home on our own before working through a realtor. We live in Myrtle Beach, SC in a very nice Charleston style home in a Charleston sty...
Words can't describe how sick we are about missing the rally this year. We had planned to be there, had our reservations etc. and had already made our way to Texas. We were volunteering for a month before the rally when we got a call from Mike's mom that she was having some heart issues and would be need...
I am looking very close at a 2003 trail Bay 5er By R-Vision 27RLSS. Does any one know any thing about them. This one seems to be very clean and looks like it has not been used very much if at all. It still has the original tires but the dealer is willing to put new one on as part of the deal. I can't find any soft sp...
Can someone who has a "normal" size RV oven tell me if these pans will fit in it. I sold/sell Pampered Chef and I have several stoneware pieces that I'm wondering if I can bring with me. The sizes are- 15 1/2" x 10" (large bar pan) 15" x 10 3/4" (muffin pan) 12 1/2"...
I am a moderator of a forum called Military-Discussion.com. It is a forum where you can discuss a wide variety of military and historical topics from the ancient times to today. We also have a chat room and once a month we invite a Civil War author or battlefield guide to discuss the Civil War. We will be...
If the trailer I'm looking at isn't plumbed for a washer/dryer...what would be my steps for doing this? Is it harder than I think? Would it drain to the gray tank, it's own tank, or straight out to the sewer? Obviously I'd need power....how? plugs into the trailer or it's own separate line to the pedest...
Class A-----Class C------Definately want a toy hauler, Fun mover, Canyon Star, Dynamax, Bounty Hunter, Outlaw, Renegade, Safari, Jayco Seneca, and on and on, my head is spinning. As you know, you get one shot (in most cases), i want to make the correct choice, but how do you know? I read and read, then...
Sometimes I notice a particular member speaks to me and my research. Or, Howard will mention someone by Memeber name and it peaks my curiousity as to how they went from asking questions to being on the road. Is there a way to search for all posts submitted by 1 particular member? Thank you for your time, R...
I know that all of you lucky enough to attend this latest rally are having a blast. Bill and I wish you safe travels to wherever you are going next. Maryann/drsmom@aol.com
