Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello, We are John and Terri Shea, from sunny Pinellas Park Florida. We have always dreamed of living fulltime on the road in an RV. About 3 months ok, after running across RV-Dreams, I asked Terri what she thought about putting the dream into a reality. I then asked her how that would be for her 50th...

Hi, everyone. We've been full timing since April 2001. We actually started out in a 1986 23' Winnebago class A. That lasted almost a year. Then we bought a 34' Itaska. We kept that a couple of years and decided if we were going to really be serious RVers, we needed a DP with slides. We are now living i...
This "downsizing" stuff isn't for sissies! Talked to a couple of realtors this week about putting the house up for sale. Actually thought we might sell it without ever going on the market - 1 agent that I called had a very interested couple who wanted to look at the house immediately befo...
We just discovered that the local library will allow non-residents to have a temporary card. We had to pay a deposit that will be refunded when we return the card before leaving town. The boys were so pleased to be able to check out some fresh reading material! We had just assumed that libraries were o...
A Downsized Lifestyle This is my blog about our decision to downsize the "stuff" in our life and hopefully teach our kids that life is about so much more than that "stuff". I started it the day we decided to do this and will keep it going as long as I can think of stuff to write about. :) So please feel free to...
Jo and I are currently camping NW of Pagosa Springs and since I have been dragging in a wee bit of dirt, she came up with a question. You see, Jo doesn't do forums, so I get to ask any questions that she comes up with. And usually, they are good questions. What are all of you using for an outdoor carpet or mat...
In the last few days (less than a week) I've made the radical decision to sell everything and become a full time RVer. It all started when the latest work frustration had me looking for new employment. Somehow I stumbled on Workamping and then it hit me. I had no idea there was such a thing; plus it's org...
This year the annual California RV Show was the worst one I have been to in the past 15 years. The show dates this year are Oct. 16th to 25th. I assume it is the terrible economy, but the show was a big let down. For instance, Country Coach only had two RVs there and they were sporting the new Veranda (patio)...
Hi Everyone....we are Ron & Jan Sulick from Palm Coast, Fl. We have been avid boaters for the past 30 years but have decided it's time to realize our dream of seeing this great country without being anchored to a waterway. We sold the boat and bought our first motorhome. 8 months later and absoulut...
When we lived in the Sticks and Bricks home, I had a Craftsman shop vac that was a fabulous tool. Now, after 6 weeks on the road I see a need for something other than the upright we use in the coach. CQ does not like the idea of me using it for utility or cleanup outside the inside. So I am looking for recomme...
This question is for all of the full timers. I'm wondering where you went on your first full time RV trip? Right now I'm thinking I'll head for Florida because it will be Fall when I start. It won't be the first place I stop since it's over 1,000 miles away but it might be my first destination. How about...
For the folks who live/winter in the Rio Grande Valley, are there any places in the area who do RV renovations? We need to have flooring installed and would prefer someone that has experience with a rig with slides...we have a motorhome. We are also looking for someone to rebuild our overhead tv area to...
Are there restrictions on RV lengths in private or public campgrounds? How about state parks? The last thing i want to do is buy a rig, and have nowhere to park it, thanks Gene.
We love our 19' travel trailer and have made a lot of little (and some big) improvements to it to make it more user friendly. Everything from a simple 12v outlet to 270-watts of solar power. You can read about all of our mods and see pictures at our site: http://rvroadtrip.us/mods.asp Jerry n ' Cynthi...
Yes, I have done a search on this topic. There was 1 thread which while helpful, did not fully answer my question. Howard is always talking about planning his trip ahead. He plans his next 1 to 3 campgrounds as well as the travel routes, mileage etc. He also appears to select alternate campgrounds, sh...
This is just an alternative for some extra room if boondocking for a while as we do in Big Bend Valley for the winter for about 6 months, mixed with side trips on the motorcycle, sidecar for Spirit and a small tent. I just set up our Montana Canvas (most is Relite actually, lighter material). With wood bur...
I'm going. No idea what I'm doin' , but I'm going. Taking a friend. Actually I just want to see what the different manufacturers have to offer, build quality etc. No way would I buy a new RV even if I had the money (I don't). I figure it will be a good opportunity to get ideas and narrow the field of choice...
Hi everyone! We're looking at purchasing a Wildcat 5th Wheel, model 31TS. The Gross Vehicle Weight is 12,115 lb. What are your thoughts on pulling this baby with a Ford F 250 Diesel? Too much or too little? Your thoughts are appreciated!
We added solar to our camper recently and thought we'd share our experience with everyone. We have a 19' Palomino Gazelle G210 travel trailer and wanted to be able to boondock without having to tote a generator around. We put 2 Kyocera 135-watt panels on the roof with tiltable mounts and a Blue Sky 302...
, I think i am closing in on what type of RV, I had mentioned on an earlier thread that we wanted a class A toy hauler to carry a smart car, The Travel Supreme is a real nice coach, they are out of business, but 2007 and 2008 are out there, they are mid engine diesels, low mileage units. The other coaches that...
Hello! My husband and I are two years away from hitting the road, full-time. By that time, he will be 35 and I will be 32. We've been married for ten years, both have advanced degrees, "great" jobs....but hate having a boss, despise our mortgage and are ready to go out into the world to figu...
I just bought a new one. At first I thought it wouldn't be good to take when I go full time, then I realize it may be the perfect camping appliance. It blends, it chops, it mixes, it cooks, it grinds, it kneads, it freezes, it even cleans itself! Anyway I was just curious.
The HOGS play Flourda today @ 2:30CTS going to be a good game don't miss it. This is the first game I will get to see this year really looking forward, Got the Diet Cokes ready, dip, chips and new recliner I am ready. GO HOGS.
I am searching with no luck for a bakers rack type shelving unit to use when we are camping. Since we have a toy hauler I do not have as much kitchen space as some. I have a spot I could put the storage shelf when we are set up, but I need it to collapse when we travel. The items I would put on it have homes, but I...
Figured I might as well introduce myself. My name is Tony and my wife is Madonna. No, not THAT Madonna Anyway, we've been mulling over a major life change for a couple of years now that started with buying 36 acres of unspoiled land in Northeastern, AZ for what was originally going to be a "retirem...
The fat lady came into town this morning (Tuesday, September 1) and sang her sweet song. This has been the fourth closing in my life and the last damn one I ever want to deal with. The first 3 were non-events. This one was the closing from Hell. We had an o.k. realtor and a decent attorney. Neither one o...
Those of us that are transitioning or thinking about it, come from bricks and stix and I often wonder how I will live without certain creature comforts that I currently take for granted. What are some items that you can't live without or found after being on the road are a real necessity? And, what items...
